There are two versions of my story on this site. Both are works in progress.

The original Night to Day has a M rating because of the content of some of the chapters. The second version has a T rating with the content of some chapters changed to reflect the new rating. I wrote a different version of this story because of requests from younger friends and family who wanted to read my story but who were concerned about the parts that merited an M rating.

The idea that sparked this story can be found in Chapter 8.

It was Kiwi Anime's story Reine's Candles, formerly found on this site, that finally sent me over the edge and made me stay up all night and start this story. I had been reading phanphiction for about a month, and decided to try my hand at writing. The first chapter came out amazingly fast. I showed it to a friend of mine who is a professional writer and he said, "Post it!" So up it went and what followed has become a labor of love.

I'm fortunate to have all my chapters edited by a friend who earns his living writing and has done so for over 20 years.

Whenever possible, I try to be historically accurate. If I make mistakes and find them, I rewrite that part if it doesn't damage the storyline. So far, I've been lucky not to have that happen. And I rely on the occasional reviewer to point out my errors so that I can make necessary changes.

I received a review in Oct, 05 from someone who thought that my occasionally dressing the heroine of this tale in pants was historically inaccurate. I responded to that assumption with a historical note which you can find in the review section posted on Oct 21, 05. It has facts that some readers may find interesting.

If you find my story interesting or simply have something to say, please leave me a review. We authors live on reviews. They encourage and inspire us. Sometimes they provoke ideas which end up in my chapters, and they always let me know what readers are thinking which does influence my writing. Sometimes they just give me a good laugh.

So, keeping that in mind, a special thanks to madfrenchmonkey who wrote a review for Mandy the O's first version of An Eternity of This (5-12-05). It's one of the funniest reviews I've seen on this site.

I hope you don't mind me quoting you, madfrenchmonkey, but this is too good to lose.

"Yay, another chapter! Writers block is a real kick in the ass, isn't it? I just have a little problem with your latest chapter, which I'd like to run by you. It's just the pattern that Erik's thoughts go, if you know what I mean? It just sounds like Erik doesn't feel like killing anymore, which just doesn't sound like him at all. If you've read the book you get the idea that he doesn't see anything wrong with murdering people who get on his nerves. (Everyone! READ THE BOOK! IT ROCKS!) Erik is a psychopath. A complete, certified, has-a-degree-in-it, written-on-his-passport psyco! No matter how happy and content he may be, he'll never think he's done anything wrong. In his eyes, the world owes him something for all the hell he's been through. He asks the opera managers for money because he CAN, not because they owe him anything. And he murders Buquet, and Raoul's older brother in the novel, because he CAN. I'm not saying that he's a cold, un-loving nutcase, just that he's a bit egocentric. He sees himself as being above common murderers. The musical/movie Erik is slightly different (e.g. being more emotional), but is still mostly the same. The psyco comes through when he is nearly strangling Raoul with the lasso, and other bits like that. Dropping things on Carlotta is just fun. Maybe I'm being picky, maybe I'm not, and maybe it's just writer's block taking its time to vamoose, but just try to remember Erik is a killer, no matter what. That's what makes him very human, and therefore lovable in his own violent way. Decide if you think I'm rambling, or if I have no point, but, above all, UPDATE SON!
