Author has written 3 stories for Harry Potter. September 1st, 2007 : Li'l ol' me, aged 11,standing in line with the other first years looking around the great hall in awe. Takes a moment to wave at the staff table and gets a few waves and a single glare (guess who! Yep, he's still alive) in return. Steps out of line when McGonagall reads out name, sits on the stool and puts on the sorting hat. Sorting hat: Hmmm...difficult...very difficult...plenty of courage I see. Not a bad mind either. There's tal - actually you know what, you're not that difficult to sort. In fact, you're the easiest. No matter how many times I have to sort you you will always and forever be a - Sorting hat: *roars out to the rest of the hall* GRYFFINDOR!!! Me : *Marches off to the Gryffindor table to loud cheers, grinning as the ghosts of James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Fred Weasley catcall* Present day: Me: Comes home after a long day at work in the tombs of Egypt. Me: *dusting hands* That's that. Now for introductions. I am a 22 year old woman (more like an overgrown child, I am told) and I proud Indian with a passion (though some will call it an unhealthy obsession) for all things Harry Potter. Well, maybe not Cursed Child - I'd be lying if I said I considered that to be canon. So if you've got a Harry Potter trivia for me, I say bring it on. At the moment, I divide my time being lazy, going to work, improving my writing and surfing the internet about all things Harry Potter under the guise of (it's what I tell myself) researching for my fanfic. I love music, movies, TV shows, cooking(I'm okay at it) and books and can talk about them all day, everyday. I don't, however, read/write fanfics outside the Harry Potter fandom. As a reader, I will read anything and everything as long as the story is well-written, interesting and the characters are relatable . I don't have many preferences, but I don't read too many dark fics(unless they are really well done and can't be avoided) and anything that has too much of supernatural elements or gore and vore. It's one of the things I love about the Harry Potter series; there's a sense of normalcy to it despite the inclusion of magic. It feels natural. That holds true to some extent for Percy Jackson as well, I suppose. The moment I feel the story crosses a line when it comes to this stuff I'm out and never going to look back. As a writer, I'm not the best there is out there. I'll freely admit that I need a lot of help when it comes to brushing up my stories. I try to be as creative as possible but also try to maintain the integrity of the story at the same time. I don't think I always succeed but thankfully I've got quite a good beta helping me out there. Writing is something I got introduced to only recently and I like to think I've improved a lot since I've begun. It might be a hobby but I do my strive to make my stories into the best version they can be. I'm all for receiving constructive criticism, so I definitely would a appreciate a review or a PM with your thoughts about my writing and stories. As a beta, my tastes will, of course, be the same as what I enjoy as reader. I don't edit stories, though. I've tried my hand at it, but neither am I good nor do I enjoy it. Instead, I prefer to act as a sounding board for your ideas and helping you develop new ideas. I've learned through experience that talking through stuff helps and I'll be willing to lend my ears and thoughts happily. After all what I want is what's best for you as an author. (Note: I'm not accepting beta requests at the moment) I'm all for discussing and debating the novels (I mean Harry Potter, of course. Well, maybe even others as long as it isn't fanfic) and reading any new fics you recommend. No crossovers though. So if you think you've got something of interest, PM me. Just know that I enjoy talking and debating a lot, so be prepared for a storm of messages and large walls of text if you decide you want to talk to me. My favourite works: I'm a die-hard fan of mysteries and I'll never ever get bored of it. I've read only a few Mysteries on this site but my favourite story is The Aurors by FloreatCastellum. It's sequel, Hollow Ash, though incomplete, is also extremely well written. There aren't many other fics that I'm following at the moment mostly because I prefer reading completed ones. And I guess I haven't really found a fic I enjoyed as much as I did the above mentioned. That's not to say that other fics are bad; there are certainly some very good ones out there, but I guess I'm very partial to these stories. My Works: I have plenty of ideas going on around in my head at the moment, but my main focus is my current WIP. I'm really enjoying writing such a long story but every once in a while I end up spewing out some one-shots. I mainly write my one-shots to bring out the character's personality using a situation that is almost always in the background in canon. I also have a couple of ficlets and drabbles coming along. My Current stories: 1) Kate Potter and The Chosen One: It's the old trope of Harry-has-a-twin! again. The story revolves around Kate Potter and how she deals with being with the Chosen One's sister. I'm trying to stick to the canon plot elements without falling into the trap of rehashing the canon, and hopefully, I'll succeed. Summary: Living with the Dursleys might have been a terrible experience for Kate Potter and her twin Harry, if it hadn’t been for their godfather and his wife. The twins also hide a secret from the ordinary folk of Little Whinging - they are both magical. Join Kate as she attends Hogwarts, struggles with her dyslexia and her status as the sister of the Boy Who Lived, and goes up against deadly enemies, all of whom have one goal - kill Harry. The story was previously titled as The Potter Twins and I only just took it down since it's going under some much needed re-construction with the help of my beta James018. I'm not entirely sure when I'll be posting the final version, since I'm still outlining all the years. The first year is being re-planned as well since much of it is a bit too similar to the canon. When the story finally goes up, the entirety of year one will be posted in one go and after that one chapter will go up every week. So I guess it'll be at least 5-6 months (so, August or September, 2019) before I can post it. Completed works: 1)Luck, Meet Fate: A one shot that focuses on Petunia Dursley and her reaction to finding her nephew on her doorstep one morning. (Beta'd by: TheWolfParadox) 2) The Date: A one shot that explores James Potter's character, his interaction with Lily and the future Mr. and Mrs. Dursley. The story plot revolves around the Pottermore article about how the first meeting between the two couples went down. (Beta'd by: TheWolfParadox) Future: 1) Murder Mystery: I got the idea to try my hand at a Mystery when I was re-reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and my interests were piqued when Blaise Zabini was introduced (or rather, re-introduced for those of us who re-read the books). It occurred to me that I could put a new spin on the hints we get about Mrs. Zabini's history and come with a whole story revolving around her. It's still in the plot bunny stage, but James018 (who is a co-author for this story) and I hope to have a concrete plot after my current WIP has progressed some more. 2) A Marauder Prequel: This is my version following the adventures of the Marauders during the first war through James' eyes. I think more than any other character I've always wanted to know more about James Potter, who certainly had the potential to be a character with a lot of depth, a human with flaws just like all the characters in the series, and in this story I intend to explore his personality and how the environment affected who he was as a child and, later, as a man. (Also, Jily. Enough said.) 3) Untitled one shot - 1: I've been wanting to do a one-shot on Harry's life at the Dursleys before he went to Hogwarts and, for some reason, I picked up on the idea of talking about why he turned his teacher's wig blue. So that's basically what this story will be about. It'll be a mixture of humour and hurt/comfort. 4) Untitled one shot - 2: Sirius Black, without question, is one of my favourite characters in the series and I just had to have a one shot with him as the main character. So in this fic, I'll be focusing on his thoughts the Halloween night James and Lily Potter died. 5) Untitled one shot - 3: Another Sirius Black one shot. The scene will be set in the Order of the Phoenix right after the conversation where he told Harry "You're a lot less like James than I thought." Other info about me that you need to know: Patronus: Eagle (I assume it's my animagus form as well but I'll know soon. I'm part way through with the transformation process) Wand: Cedar wood, Phoenix feather core (no relation of any kind to Voldemort's),10 3/4 inches, solid flexibility. Illvernmorny house: Thunderbird. Me: *Does a Miranda Priestly* That's all. |
