Author has written 20 stories for Longmire. Hello, possible readers and other fan-writers, I am Nana to three little boys under 3, a former geologist and teacher. I have had ups and downs in my life, as have we all in different ways. I was divorced in 1994, and my daughter was developmentally delayed and died in 2008 after fighting the instantaneous side-effects of a DPT vaccine for 23 years. I became interested in writing during "Beauty and the Beast," CBS, 1987-1990 and did substantial fan writing in that universe. In 1990, I decided I would prefer to write "in my own sandbox," and have only written short stories and novels in my own universe until 2014, when Longmire nudged me back into the fan realm. I will say that my genres, romance and science fiction, do not overlap very much with contemporary detective western novels or TV, but with Longmire, the romance, and the 'shipping,' grabbed me. In the writing department, I will only dip in and out, because I admire what Mr. Johnson and the show's writers do very much. Anything I write may fill in holes or provide more satisfying (okay, admittedly, to me) resolution in certain areas. I bow to the show writers' creativity, and Mr. Johnson's increasingly wonderful writing and complex plots. For example, as much as I don't like or agree with certain events leading up to the ending of "Serpent's Tooth," Mr. Johnson's ending is overwhelmingly evocative and tender. His recent post-it was remarkably poignant. Okay, so, I'm a fan. I plan to go to Longmire Days this summer with my husband and just enjoy the heck out of it. To all you other fan writers, kudos to your intestinal fortitude and creativity, and thank you for all your efforts! Janet Washer Centennial, CO |
