Author has written 2 stories for How to Train Your Dragon.

Welcome to my profile page! Here you will find details regarding my How to Train Your Dragon fanfiction.

My main story for the foreseeable future will be Fly to Live, a coming-of-age story with a particular focus on Hiccup and Toothless’ characters, branching off from the first movie the moment Astrid finds out about Toothless. Its full storyboard is complete, but writing it will be a slow process. I’ve put considerable effort into setting up this story, so I’m not planning on abandoning it anytime soon (or ever). Nonetheless, keep in mind that updates may not be regular.

Basic information on the story can be found in the preface, on the first page. However, for those who want to know more before they dedicate their time to a story, there are further details below. The information will be divided in a 2-tier spoiler system, where Level 0 contains no spoilers, whilst Level 1 reveals more important details. I’m not revealing major plot points, of course.

A world-map for this story is also available for those who want to keep track of Hiccup's journey. If you want to know why I'm not using the Earth's geography, please refer to point no.4 of the Level 0 information below. Keep in mind that some aspects of the map are still a work in progress. Consulting such map is not necessary for the enjoyment or understanding of the story, but if you like fantasy maps, as I do, you can find a link to it in the Links section below.

In my small repertoire you will also find A Vow of Silence, a short collection of scenes which stand as a sort of prequel to Fly to Live, revealing my reinterpretation of the secret events behind Valka leaving Berk, and Gothi becoming mute.

Reviews, comments, questions, and critiques are always appreciated. Private messages are very welcome as well.

Thanks for reading!

Details about Fly to Live for readers who want to know what they are getting into:

LEVEL 0 SPOILERS: No Information about the developments of the story. Principal narrative guidelines that will be followed. Exceptions may apply.

  1. This is going to be chiefly a coming-of-age, adventure story, with a heavy focus on the bond between Hiccup and Toothless and the struggle of both to understand their place in the world. Nonetheless, the story will not ignore the development of other characters too, like Astrid, Stoick, Gobber, and others, as well as a few original ones. The OCs will however never surpass the relevance of the known protagonists of the franchise.
  2. Whilst character development is one of the main interests of the story, keeping the protagonists in-character with regard to canon is also paramount.
  3. This story will try to be a more mature, gritty and realistic take on the “what if Hiccup leaves” genre. Therefore, for the sake of realism, this story will be void of divine interventions, or other supernatural events that with deus-ex-machina fashion save the day and drive the plot into a predictable outcome. The requirement for suspension of disbelief will be kept to a minimum (except for the existence of fire-breathing dragons, because, you know… why else would you be here?)
  4. The story is set in an alternate universe with a completely original World Map (drawn by me and provided [see links above]). Vikings and tribe relations are still going to be kept as close to their portrayal in movie as possible. Since Berk is a fictional place with a fantasy element (dragons), I found it easier to place it in a likewise fantasy world different from our own (where dragons have obviously never existed). In fact, as a fan of realistic fantasy, I cannot reconcile the existence of dragons with the actual medieval history of our world. Some writers in the fandom have tried admirably, merging history and fantasy with great talent, but I am not versed in history enough to be capable of such a feat. Besides, the Barbaric Archipelago, both in movies and books, is an unspecified, imaginary location (presumably near Scotland's Inner Hebrides), but geography does play a small role in my story (distances, time of travel by sea, flight speed, climate, etc.) so I needed something more specific as a basis for my calculations.
  5. Foul language will be present insofar as it is realistic.
  6. Sensual matters, though not central to the plot, will be an important secondary theme. Visual descriptions of possible sexual acts will still be avoided. While the theme will never be faced crudely, just keep in mind that this is a coming-of-age story from an adolescent boy’s perspective (for the most part), in a medieval-like, fantasy setting, with its relative moral standards. Set your expectations based on that.
  7. I’m not sure it’s necessary, but I’ll just put this here: While I don’t have absolutely anything against any of these genres, this is not a transformation, genderbending, smut, slash, mpreg, or bestiality story. I hold no prejudices towards any of the writers or readers of those categories. I’ve appreciated quite a few of those types of stories myself (some probably more than I should have) but they don’t apply to this one. This story might contain some heavy bromance, but I don’t think it’s a synonym for any of the above.

LEVEL 1 SPOILERS: More specific information about characters and developments.

  1. This is a “what if Hiccup leaves Berk” story, diverging from the original movie plot the moment Astrid finds out about Toothless. In this interpretation, you get to actually see what happens when Hiccup leaves. There will be no time skips (not substantial ones anyway). This is not a “five years later” kind of story.
  2. This story is planned to loosely follow and substantially expand on the first movie only.
  3. There will be no major protagonist deaths. That is to say, Hiccup and Toothless. All other characters, both OCs or otherwise, are not protected by the Holy Spell of Protagonism, also known as plot armor. Please have your emotional belts fastened at all times.
  4. Regarding hiccstrid, you can rest assured that it will be a thing (mostly towards the end of the story). Hiccup and Astrid's is of course the OTP of the story, as it is in canon, but this doesn't mean it will be central to the narration, nor that it will be developed in the same way. In fact, there may be other romantic (or carnal) relationships as well. Either way, while romantic and sensual matters will be tackled in this story, they won’t be the dominant topic.
  5. Toothless and Hiccup will gradually learn to communicate in some form. That form will borrow more from the genre of science fiction, rather than fantasy. (It won't be regarded as magical or supernatural.)
  6. Hiccup will eventually return to Berk, but I shall not reveal after how long. He will be more mature but not excessively so, he’ll still need to develop, learn more and deal with his past. He won’t be going back as the badass genius sword-master assassin hero with god-like powers, just to finally humiliate “those stupid Vikings” and save them from themselves. He’ll still be our little Hiccup, with a bit more self awareness and a bit more knowledge about the world. That is not to say that he won’t pick up a few surprising traits, maybe a scar or two… who knows? Well, read and find out! ;)

LEVEL 2 SPOILERS: Send me a private message if you feel the need to know beforehand about major plot points. A specific response is not guaranteed.

HIATUS NOTICE (May 2019): My apologies to all, but Fly to Live is currently on a temporary hiatus. As I said above, I don't plan to ever abandon this story. In fact, I do plan to resume publishing soon, but my current work is not allowing me the spare time and peace of mind that proper writing requires. If it's any consolation, I'm still occasionally working on the upcoming chapters, but not with the attention this story deserves. I do hope to be able to resume proper writing in the next couple of months.

Thank you for your patience.
