Adrienne's writings: at the end of all things hiatus unrequited in rememberance hope and valour It's been a while since i've updated the profile area, so a little something about myself! Just approaching 30, female and living in a beautiful part of Wales that is wonderful for the creative muses that habitually dog at my life. i write for the simple pleasure of doing so, and i post fiction to share my love and to provide others with a moments respite from the more mundane aspects of our lives. I have have worked and trained in several areas of interest, from the arts to sciences, but have just been denied my application to study medicine due to an un-diagnosed neurological condition. Fiction creates an escape for us, allows us to meander (although with guidance) through the more pleasant lanes of our minds, and the allowance to walk those paths with our favourite characters allows us to widen our playing field, to let us explore our own characters and desires within the safety and confines of the rules laid out for us, testing them, bending the, even breaking them in an attempt to better understand ourselves and uncover truths that maybe we needed a little more help in finding. Niel Gaiman once wrote that: "Sometimes life is hard, things go wrong. In life and in love, in business and in friendship and in health and in all other ways that life can go wrong. and when life gets tough, this is what you should do: make good art." things have indeed gone wrong, things have gone wrong for all of us. but do not put your face to the ground. look up. take the moment that you need to gather yourself, and pull back your shoulders, you don't have to smile, you need never say you are sorry, but take what you feel you cannot show and pour it out. write. draw. paint. these tangible things will hold that which has hurt you, and these tangible things you can control. there are those who will read this and scoff... ...and then there is you. you understand. you will smile to know that there are those who understand. and you will hold your chin a little higher, and i shall apllaud you. |
