Author has written 8 stories for How to Train Your Dragon. Welcome! This is my first foray into publishing fanfiction. I'm a musician and marathon runner with more academic degrees than I know what to do with. My oldest favorite fantasy universes are Star Wars, LOTR, and the animes Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha. I saw the original How To Train Your Dragon movie a few years ago and liked it a lot, but after the second movie came out I was high as a kite for a week (You remember "Avatar withdrawal," where people got depressed leaving the theater, wishing they could stay on Pandora? It was like that). I didn't want to leave Berk, so I built myself a little hut on the outskirts, purchased some yaks, and moved in. A writing resource I've found very entertaining and helpful is a podcast called "Writing Excuses," hosted by Howard Tayler of Schlock Mercenary webcomic fame, and Brandon Sanderson (the Mistborn trilogy and other epic fantasy works, also he finished the Wheel of Time series). Check it out at writingexcuses[dot]com. Here's the chronological order of my stories: Growing Pains (in progress)--NOT to be confused with the upcoming story by KateMarie999 (you should read her stuff, BTW, it's got Haddock domesticity down to an art form) Cold Shower Wedding in the Mead Hall Wedding Night The Morning After Firsts Winter's Gift (started as a two-shot, will probably be the start of something longer) AU: Berk Phil (I will update this soon, cross my heart, I write on it every day.) I am also currently working on the third act of a novella-length HTTYD fic that will take place about three years before the events of the second film and tie into my other fics. It will have mystery, romance, and Terrible Terrors. [UPDATE: After 30,000 words of pre-write and a slight change to the chronology, I've started posting the story under the title "Growing Pains." The title refers to the challenges that will be faced by our eighteen-year-old protagonists, but also to my own experience in writing the thing; it's my most ambitious story to date, with a decently complex plot and about six times the number of POV characters I'm used to writing for. I'm determined to finish it before the next season of the tv series comes out, but we'll have to see, haha (bangs head against wall in frustration).] Anyway, thanks for visiting and come back again soon! |
