I was fannish in college in the late 70s (went to some cons, wrote a few Star Wars fics for printed 'zines), then put fannish things aside for 30 years to work as technical writer until I was introduced to anime and manga and on-line fandom in 2002 (resulting in a few dozen stories for YGO). When I retired from tech writing, I went back to writing original fiction as well as fanfiction. (I have finally stopped apologizing for the latter.)
