Author has written 18 stories for Godzilla, How to Train Your Dragon, Terminator, Spider-Man, Kingdom Hearts, Star Wars, Dragon Ball Z, Frozen, RWBY, and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. Notes about me: Casual writer. I hop back and forth between interests on the flip of a coin. When I write fanfiction, I tend to go pretty unconventional (Note: does not necessarily mean of higher quality, don't freak out. Also, this is informed of me reading other stories and drawing my own comparisons, and I cannot read every fanfic in existence, making this an entirely subjective opinion. I'm also fond of unnecessarily covering my pootis) Stance on declaration of non-ownership: I don't do disclaimers since I feel it's entirely implied with a site under the name of Fanfiction.net, but you do you. If I do get legal threats for it, sure I'll start disclaiming. State of Affairs (2020) Good evening, readers! I'm here today to inform you all that I will be taking an indefinite (but hopefully short) sabbatical from posting (not writing, I'll still be doing that). Allow me to explain why: I'm sure many of you have run across the large, blocky and flow-breaking problem that has infested our story browsers, author pages and even the stories themselves, but for those who have been fortunate enough to avoid this frustration, many (myself included) have been discovering massive Google ads slapped in the middle of our stories, in the middle of the story browser, and even on author pages. Needless to say, many people (myself included) have become rather incensed by this development. This has been made worse (at least to me) is that has not bothered to even acknowledge that this is happening, and has not responded to any issues recently since April 21st, which is 11 days as of this writing. The earliest trace of this problem I could find was April 26th, based on Twitter posts from other incensed users of this archive. I will be keeping an eye on the situation as best I can, and I will keep writing for all of the works I am currently updating, but until we get word on the situation, I will not be uploading any of my completed chapters. I am not just doing this because I am angry about the situation, though I am indeed in a foul mood because of it. I am doing this because I do not want to put new work out there when there will automatically a poor first reading experience due to factors beyond my control. I would rather you all be able to experience my story, be that experience positive or negative, based solely on the quality of my work, and not because this archive has shoved seven ads into my story and completely compromised it. Should come out and say that this was a bug, I will not start posting immediately, but I will begin preparation to begin posting again. However, if they come out and say that this is all working as intended, well... I will not stand for that. I will protest this undoubtedly, and I have a feeling that many others will too. However, I also feel that should they say that, the site may be compromised for good as I doubt that they will be able to recover from such a boneheaded move. Thus, I will probably begin to consider where else I can put my work. I have considered AO3, but I'm not sure that archive would be a good fit for my work. I am not trying to turn up my nose at other archives, but I investigated a few of the franchises and fandoms I write for on AO3 and in terms of material, the audience for my writing doesn't appear to be there. If any of you know of any upcoming archives besides AO3 and Wattpad (I've sworn off Wattpad after two minutes of poking around) please let me know so I can begin making plans for a possible migration. I don't like the idea of jumping ship, honestly. However, I am not going to write for a site that will knowingly and intentionally compromise the reading experience of those I write for just for a few extra pennies. Hopefully it doesn't come to that. Update (May 8th): Good day to you all. It's been almost a week since I started the State Of Affairs section of my profile page, and near as I can tell, nothing's changed. There's been no responses to me or anyone else offering concerns about the massive influx of ads on the site, no moves to fix it, nothing. Total radio silence. I have gone out of my way to get an ad blocker and it is indeed working, but I still think it is incredibly poor form on the part of that they won't even acknowledge that this is a thing that is happening. At peak, the ad blocker was removing 8 ads from one of the chapters of my story; eight ads that would have been shoved haphazardly into my work, completely ruining the flow and compromising the experience of anyone who wanted to just read a story I'd put on this site. I say this next part directly to ; the state your site is in is unacceptable. There should not be eight ads placed inside a story, completely at random and completely ruining the reading experience for everyone that just wants to read a story. Even more unacceptable is your complete lack of communication regarding this issue and only leaves negative PR to pile up. If this is a glitch and you're trying to fix it, then tell us! Even if you don't know when it'll be fixed, or even if it can be fixed, at least you've gotten that out there and we won't keep stewing in frustration. Update (June 6th): Well, I'll be damned! By all appearances, The Adfestation has come to an end! Having scrolled through... I wanna say 5 stories and well in excess of 150 chapters, I have seen not one ad in a place it shouldn't be, and I couldn't be happier. THAT HAVING BEEN SAID, I am still incredibly displeased by the radio silence that FictionPress engaged in (and continues to engage in) throughout the Adfestation. I consider it to be unacceptable that there be no communication when something like this happens across two websites owned and operated by the same company, especially when an event like this only stands to make them more money. Make no mistake, I will be keeping an eye open for if/when this happens again, and I will make sure that this event and FictionPress's silence is in as many heads as possible. And rest assured, if this does happen next year, I will be pointing it out and calling attention to it and making sure as many people know what has been allowed to happen under FictionPress's watch. Review Etiquette: As pretentious as the name sounds, I feel that "Review Etiquette" best describes what I am about to rant about for the next few paragraphs. So, I'm writing this because, having trolled through a few review (should be renamed to comment) sections, I've come to the conclusion that a good number of reviewers are doing their reviewing rather poorly. And while I'm sure no one will read this, I'm putting out there anyway so that they (you know who you are) don't have an excuse. But I'm getting ahead of myself. What do I mean by 'reviewing poorly' you ask? Well, allow me to provide a few examples of things that will automatically make those more experienced shake their heads and immediately dismiss your review. 1) No punctuation. This is one of the biggies. If you aren't putting in any periods, commas, or using any of the VERY ELEMENTARY tools used to make sentences easier to organize and read, you have effectively pissed the integrity of your review away. And before you got on my case for spelling errors and misplaced punctuation, don't. I at least try to use punctuation and good sentence structure. 2) using 'lol', 'lmao' or 'lmfao' in a 'negative' review. This is usually accompanied by number one, as well as writing said review as a guest, making it impossible for the writer to attempt to engage with the writer in question. Here's one from someone who recently posted on one of my stories, with no name attached. Oh s* power level has been thrown up, here comes the inconsistent powers of characters with little training they are powerful like that damn, they have become saiyan without reason now plot power lmao The moment I saw this review, I just rolled my eyes, shared it with my Discord server and they had a good ol' laugh at it. It's not cute, it's not funny in its intended manner, and it just makes the one who posted it look like a complete and utter tool. Especially if it's posted as a guest. Fortunately, writers get the option to simply bin guest reviews if they so wish. 3) And now we get away from the ones that just annoy me and/or cause me to write of an entire review as trash, regardless of whether or not there's merit to it. This next one is why I say should rename 'reviews' to 'comments', and that is simply asking questions or asking for updates. Asking, or even demanding updates from writers will not make them write faster. As for questions, those ones are okay, but I'd rather hear what you liked, what you didn't like and possibly suggestions for improvement. Certainly, go ahead and ask questions afterwards, but don't make it JUST a question. Even if it's just something like "this sentence seems wonky" or "spelling mistake in chapter X, paragraph Y" goes a long way. Not really much else to put here, this was kind of off the cuff. I'm sure I'll think of more things to add to Review Etiquette in future, as well as other small tweaks. Also, let me know if you have your own thoughts on Review Etiquette and share them with others! Well, that's it for Review Etiquette! Ta-ta for now! The Big Plan: I have a long-term plan for my stories, but it'll take time. Here's a current list of stories involved in that plan. Completed: New Dawn was going to be here, but it's spot was usurped by Venom: Resurgence. A Very Bad Idea: Based in the Legendary Studios Monsterverse. Underground science organization called E.V.O has developed a procedure to splice DNA of two completely different species together, resulting in cross-species, and the first human trials use Kaiju DNA. This is a very bad idea. In Progress: Before: Kingdom Hearts: As Sora returns from the Sleeping Worlds, he is waylaid and whisked away to a strange world, blanketed in shadow. Left without any other options, Sora sets out to discover the mysteries of this strange world, aided by a mysterious being in a gray cloak named Archive. Meanwhile, a strange boy named Ryo is thrust into an epic journey to regain what was lost, right a most ancient wrong and find his new place in this new world Venom: Resurgence: After the world is conquered by symbiotes and all the superheroes are dead or worse, only two nations remain safe, those being Wakanda and the supercity called Safe Haven. Follow Ana, descendant of Spider Man as she becomes a hero in her own right, as well as Garter, a human who lives in the wilds outside of Safe Haven and Wakanda before he unwittingly takes the mantle of Venom. History: Was born in the mountains outside humanity's last known stronghold against the invading symbiotes. Spent his early life learning how to survive on a conquered Earth. Lost his parents during a surprise attack by symbiotes. Has mild psychopathic tendencies brought out by fighting, and is incredibly conscience of that fact. his symbiote helps keep him in check, should he be about to go too far in a fight. He was last seen being imprisoned in a cryo-pod to be launched into space. His current whereabouts are unknown. Ana Sturm: Description: 5.5, 17 years old, blue eyes, long black hair, average complexion. Bonded to a blue and black spider-based symbiote. Bonded to a dark purple and black symbiote she created herself. Symbiote is artificial bred and has the ability to assimilate material and take on it's durability. There is a physical limit to how much mass it can assimilate and must eject material if it finds a new one it wants. Has moth-like wings (Similar to Big Chill from Ben 10), can form talons on the fingers of it's host (Like spiderman 2099) and can fire energy blasts when it has a host. History: A scientist who intensively studied symbiote biology. Invented a process for creating artificial symbiotes through genetic samples of organic ones. Created the symbiotes that would go on to bond with herself, an unnamed soldier who goes by AS-04, Marie, Will and Medusa. History: served as a Gorgon soldier and fought Ethan alongside Viper leader. After Viper leader's death, she became obsessed with hunting Ethan down. After his capture, she broke into his cell to kill him, only to be beaten within an inch of her life when Grey entered a psychotic rage. After being healed by the first artificial symbiote, the bond slowly broke her down as the symbiote urged her to follow through on her desire to kill Ethan, until she became Medusa. Was possessed by the symbiote Queen to become Gigas prime. Current whereabouts are unknown. Presumed dead. A Very Bad Idea: Grey: Description: 5.7, 17 years old (At time of writing), green eyes, short black hair. Born in Canada. Strength is further enhanced by flooding his circulatory system with ionizing radiation, causing said system to glow electric blue. History: Was abducted when he was sixteen to be used as a test subject for cross-species genetics, due to having a specific adaptability gene. Shortly after mutation, was driven into an animalistic rage through pain, which allowed him to escape. Was pursued across the country before being discovered by Monarch after a battle between Godzilla and a burrowing creature. Shortly afterwards, world was attacked by same organization that mutated him, using an army of cross-species from the same set of experiments. After defeating and subduing the army, led a raid on the lab where he was experimented on, rescued remaining cross-species and killed the man who mutated him, who had mutated himself in last ditch effort to kill Grey. After much needed R&R, became formal representative for all cross-species to the UN, as well as first responder to all cross-species related incidents.
