![]() Author has written 12 stories for Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. Who am I? I am a 26 year old dual British Australian citizen born and living in Australia. I think I have a unique background to call on, as a writer, because one side of my family were penniless working class English and Scottish coal miners, while the other side of my family were nouveau riche adventurers who took part in the New Australia Colony and were close friends of aviators and authors in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. I'm a Scout, a teacher and a scientist. I play the violin and love British comedy such as Black Books. I'm scarred from adventures and mishaps, have the accent of an Australian newsreader from the 1950s and I am currently completing my second university degree - so unfortunately, actual study sometimes has to take precedence over fanfiction writing! What's in a name? No, I'm not really named Fox Fireside. Fox was my great-grandmother's maiden name. She was a genuine 20s flapper - a dead ringer for "Phryne Fisher" - who worked as a chambermaid in northern England and flirted her way into a happy marriage with a very eligible gentleman bachelor. Fireside is the name of one of the British Merchant Navy ships my grandfather worked on in the 1940s, prior to jumping ship due to an ongoing dispute over being underpaid. Why write fanfic? I'm very slowly working on some novels of my own in the hope of one day being published. I'd jump at the chance to have any sort of job that involved writing for a living! But fanfiction is a wonderful guilty pleasure. When I watch an engaging show, I see the threads of other stories in my head - stories that I would love to see played out in the show but which I derive at least some joy from writing out for my own interest. I'm posting these stories online for others who are frustrated at the gaps and missing scenes, the 'what ifs' and 'could happens' of their favourite shows. |
