"You can analyze. And you can write. But you should never do both at the same time. If you try to analyze while you're writing, you'll never get anywhere. But you can always analyze after having written" My Father About the Author Please, call me Bari. I am a third generation Texan, old enough to smoke, drink and drive (but not all at once). I was born, raised and currently live in an architectural disaster someone dared to call a house with a varying assortment of relatives, four cats and a dog. What I publish here I publish for the interest and amusement of others. My intent with my writing is to express ideas, experiment with styles and relieve stress (usually my own), but most of all, these stories are written and published for fun, hopefully both mine and yours. Reviews, Author Notes and Messaging It is not my habit to respond to reviews, as most often the response would be a simple thank you for reviewing. But I do love reviews, and cherish every one of them (be they positive or negative), even if I don't respond. I try to keep Author's Notes (A/N) to a minimum because they break up the flow of a story, so normally I put them only at the beginning and end chapters of the story, as I feel that the reader experience is better without author's notes cluttering things up. I have received no complaints about this. I will usually respond to messages quite happily, though I will not Beta Read for you, Role Play with you or agree to co-write a story with you. You don't need an excuse to contact me though, I'm perfectly happy to social message. The Annual Christmas fic When I wrote my first Christmas fic, I did not intend for it to be an annual event, but that is how it has worked out for many years running now. It all actually started because I wanted to practice writing comedy, with heavy concentration on the style of the show I selected for the exercise: Lab Rats. That it was a Christmas story was almost incidental. There are now a few traditions associated with this annual project. I nearly always write the first draft in October, and work on the proofing and editing in November. With one past exception, I begin posting on Dec 1, and post a chapter a day until completion. With one exception, the stories are 24 chapters long. Therefore I conclude publishing on Christmas Eve. All chapters of every story are quoted lyrics from Christmas songs, and so far I have not repeated any (song lists are sometimes included at the end of the story, and yes I do have a file devoted exclusively to what songs/lyrics I have used for which stories). I do a different franchise every year. Like all good traditions, none of these were planned, they simply happened by accident. I hope to continue the tradition for years and years to come. Below, I have listed every Christmas fic I've written by year, and included what franchise they belong to: 2014 - Christmas Lights (Lab Rats) 2015 - This Christmas Present (Power Rangers: SPD) 2016 - Good Will to Men (Transformers: Prime) 2017 - It Was a Good Christmas (Bonanza) 2018 - Quicksilver Bells (Invisible Man, 2000-2002 series) 2019 - The Thing with the Feathers (Supernatural) |
