Firstly, before you all read this, Know with the fact that I for a long time try as hard as i could not to delete guest reviews, no matter how destructive or volatile the message as long as it gives a good advice... Anyways, here's the issue.

Before going to sleep i decided to check facebook and this site. The gall of some people to leave flames behind while hiding behind their 'guest anonymity' just to inflate their own egos. While I don't normally delete guest reviews, ones that give no insightful or helpful things tend to get deleted. Whoever you are, you know what you typed.

but i digress, the heart of the matter is or you specify it to be is that none of these three ideas are original... And I wholeheartedly agree. I mean it's quite hard to be original in a site that literally has millions of writing in here. They are not original ideas, they are based on something or some stuff... But that is what fanfiction is. It is based on something, how you make the story different is how you put your own twist in.

It is now fully a rant but here's my last defense on my case. Do you really want 'Originality'? On a site that basically says "FANFICTION"? All stories here are based on something else. It is impossible to find original content here. What you will find are stories that even though based on a different thing still has its own creators flair. What makes it the same yet different. Its how the author of said story makes his story different... USING THE SAME ELEMENTS.

Here, let me put it in perspective for you, the difference between being being original and unoriginal.

I'll type the definition word for word found on a dictionary. "Original: present or existing from the beginning; first or earliest. Created particularly by an artist; not a copy or an imitation." Those are just the adjectives, here comes the noun. "Something serving as a model or basis for imitation or copies." There's also another one but that describes a person and has no connection to this whatsoever.

Next in line to be typed word for word "Unoriginal: lacking originality; derivative." Basically its just every meaning of the word original upside down.

If you really want originality go read a book or novel but even then, most books and novel are based on something else so good luck finding your originality there.

Now keep in mind, I'm not saying everyone here is unoriginal in how they make their story... In fact that's the only way you can make the story different... By adding what YOU as the WRITER feel will make things different but better. Just because you based your story on something or used some aspects and elements doesnt mean its a bad story or unoriginal. No story is unoriginal as long as you dont copy someone elses story.

Here's a very heavily Naruto based Chinese novel, you can read it in the internet it's called "in different world with Naruto system." The author obviously copied Some aspects here and there for the story. Does that make it bad? no. (Well legally speaking unless he got the go sign from Jump or Kishimoto... It is bad on the law sense since he's making money of off it.) story wise, it is by far, has nothing to do with the the characters we all know and love themselves. His story is by far the very farthest ones from being unoriginal compared to ALL stories in this website itself. Is the story good? That my friends, depends on the readers.

To put it in a different perspective... Video games. Not all RPG games follow the same story, yet they will always follow the same gameplay. "Star Oceon has a different fighting style compared to final fantasy!" Yes, absolutely correct, but they still follow the same adventure aspect of having to go to long distances to advance the story.

Not All MoBA games follow the same style of dynamics. "What are you saying? They're all about choosing a character and then clicking until your team wins or lose (which may or may not be entirely your fault.)." Yes, however there are always a few differences let's use DoTA2 and LoL as examples, on DoTA2 we have the Creep/Tower Deny in which we kill/destroy a low health creep/tower to deny the enemy of gold and full exp gain. In LoL they have the Jungle Buffs (Courtesy of Baron/dragon/Red/Blue Jungles). They have the same mechanics... But a little bit of different dynamics. "Are they different gameplay wise?" not so much, but it's that little bit of difference that make them not the same. ProPlayers playing league and ProPlayers playing DoTA2 would never lose against the other in their main games, because they know the dynamics of their own game.

I may get a bit of hate because of this but I need to type this anyways for the defense of all 'Non-Original' as the flamers say.

DoTA2 is based on something. LoL is based on something. TF2 is based on something. WoW is based on something. Overwatch is based on something. I know there's a lot more games I could use but since these ones are well known (and I probably have lots of haters with just these 5 titles alone) I'll stop at these ones.

DoTA2 is based on DoTA which was a mod based on WarCraft and its character sprites were sprites that came from the game.

LoL has LOTS of things its based on, some characters are based on the game developers (i.e. Ezreal and Zilean), one of the items in the game is called "Rylai's Crystal Scepter" that causes slow on enemies hit with spells, based on the Ice Mage of DoTA named 'Rylai' and both LoL and DoTA has an item based on one of the developer's developer name which is "Guinsoo". Guinsoo's RageBlade and Guinsoo's Scythe (Which is now called Scythe of Vyse in DoTA2. Reason? I'm not entirely sure but maybe it's because Guinsoo isn't working for steam.) And lastly, LoL's Favorite shout-out. Baron Nashor... Or Nashor for short which is an anagram of Roshan. An Homage to DoTA's Roshan in which both games is the strongest jungle monster to kill.

TF2 hoo boy, here we go. Team Fortress 2 is based on the first game Team Fortress Classic. Team Fortress Classic if you all don't know was based on a mod for Quake aptly named "Team Fortress"

World Of WarCraft is... Obviously, based from the WarCraft series using the lore, the character designs and some easter eggs from the original game. The gameplay? Definitely not the first MMORPG, same elements, same setup, same skill system as other MMORPG, even character selection isn't different from other MMORPG. "But they have their own races based on the original lore of WarCraft!" Agreed. And so do most MMORPGs. They let you choose the race of that game's lore.

And lastly, Overwatch. Which in my opinion is quite original in the fact that Overwatch was originally supposed to be an MMORPG but was scrapped due to some issue. In the making of Overwatch, they decided that instead of making a new game from scratch, why not base it on something else? And lo and behold, they used the characters, backstory and even some of the lore of the scrapped MMORPG and used it to make what Overwatch is today.

The skill system is definitely not the first time seen before on a game, most MoBAs have different skill systems depending on the character used. The movement, is also a no. There are lots of games that fly through the air, grappling hook(widowmaker only) and other mobility types. Shields, heals, turrets, invisibility. All no. Other games have these as well.

But are these games bad since they're not original and are based on something else? FUCK NO. They're all great games in their own way and are very fun to play. (except when you get teamed with a feeder or YOLO types that dives each and every time even when alone... ugh.)

Are they original? No definitely not. It's hard to make an original game without accidentally copying another game or the game's mechanics or gameplay.

So much so that I already have a different Viewpoint regarding "Originality"

For me there are 3 stages of Originality.

1. Very Original - The hardest thing to make these days whether it be anime, manga, fanfic or any other thing. (In alcohol it's the alcohol itself.)
2. Original - The ones mostly scene these days, uses other bases and elements to make an entirely different thing. (in alcohol this is Cocktail drinks.)
3. Unoriginal - The very easy and boring ones to make/read. Basically a copy pasted thing taken from something else. Didn't even try to change up anything. (In alcohol this would be the leftovers from last week.)

Keep in mind that this is not made JUST to defend me. I made this to defend other authors getting flamed by guest reviewers leaving the same nonsense, non helpful and volatile reviews from people who thinks it's easy to write a story... Based on their experience reading someone else's story. This ends my rant.

if any of you reading this writes or plans to write a story, use this as your defense. And keep on writing, dont mind the comments saying "you suck" or "this is shit". Those dont matter. What matters are you getting better and taking helpful advice.

Uhh, do people still remember me? I've been gone for so long due to various reasons mainly RL stuff... and also because of RL stuff is why I'm back weirdly enough. The whole Epidemic and Lockdowns/Quarantines helps me in staying at home and with nothing to do or distract myself from my problems brought me back here... I don't really wanna divulge the reasons in full but let's just say I've been stressed these past few years I was AWOL from writing and the idea of ending it all has passed by my thoughts more than just a couple of times... I'm in a better mindset now so no worries there... but anyways...

I'll have to re-read, polish and rewrite before I do anything more. It's been a while since I've been back and its a very long while. I don't much remember the ideas I once had or the stories' path I had before.
