I'm a graduate student studying history in Texas. I've had this idea for a Sherlock Holmes story rolling around in my head for a while now and uploaded it on a spur of the moment, afraid I would just keep editing it without posting it.

My inspiration for many of the scenes and story lines come from certain songs, usually by Ingrid Michaelson, Sia, or Coldplay. I will try to reference which song I mean to go with a certain scene so you can always look them up and get a feel for what I mean. These chapters are not "song fics" per se, just inspired by certain songs. I'd love readers to look up these songs so it can be sort of an interactive experience, ya know?

I would love it if you let me know about yourselves. I want to know who the people are on the other side of the screen reading a little piece of myself. That is why I would dearly appreciate any reviews or even just info about who you are.

Questions to contemplate: Where do you live? What made you decide to read my story? What do you like about it? What do you think could be improved? What would you like to see in my development of the storyline/characters? etc.

Reviews are always welcome and even encouraged because the story isn't fully formed yet. I have a general outline but any input is greatly appreciated. Again, I'd like this to be an interactive experience. If you'd like to critcize my work, please be courteous and constructive. I'm new to this whole experience so input is helpful.

I plan to update once a week until further notice. I will be going on vacation so we'll see how that goes. Plan on seeing a new chapter every week either by Friday evening or Saturday. Watch me promise to update on this schedule and something happens to make me late, lol.

Note: The title, Academia, is a song by Sia. Take a look, or listen rather, and see what you think. The lyrics are really great for the tone of the story and a hint of where it is going.

It was painted in 1893, two years after my story in 1891, but her clothing is pretty spot on. I love the way she is sort of defiantly staring at the "camera" or artist in this case. This could be a version of Catherine. She resembles how Catherine might look, though with a few changes. She's wearing a house dress, it looks like, so picture her in a dress with a high collar and long sleeves.

This one has the same enigmatic expression, so I like it. Imagine her sleeves less poofy, and that might be your Catherine.

10-13-2012 - I just made a Facebook account completely dedicated to my fan fiction. Feel free to add me as a friend, you'll find my as Her Storian, and it will have a picture of a pink corset. I'm trying new ways to get the word out.
