"I… Is she okay?" The detective asks after a beat because Kara is bubbly, but not this bubbly and it feels as if she should have heard at least a whisper of something happening if it's bad enough for sun lamps. ll Kara solar flares, Alex and Maggie take her home.

And there is something off about her, something the detective can't quite place, but the thought is pushed to the back of her mind because although it is very worrisome that there is a six year old in a shipping container, alone in the dark, it is not as nearly as disconcerting as what she's wearing. The poor kid is practically swimming in an adult version of Supergirl's uniform.

Maggie pauses, sweeping her flashlight beam, left, where there's nothing, and then right… where the path continues, and it definitely continues, and this time when she raises her flashlight, an angry flash of lightning throws light into her path. Supergirl is pardoned after seven months in prison for her alleged role in the White House Terror Attack and in an ill-conceived road trip as they wait for the media outrage to die down, Maggie realizes that fighting to get her released isn't nearly as hard as the recovery. "Supergirl..." The blonde's hero moniker barely scrapes out of Maggie's throat. "S-Supergirl… You can let her go." Kara doesn't answer.

Her head is spinning and the walls are moving and there's a floating orange color staining the backdrop of her vision that she wasn't entirely sure was there before and she's so… so thirsty, but goddamn if she still had her service weapon she'd shoot them all to death. Because when they come back, they bring another bucket with them. xx The DEO doesn't negotiate with criminals.

Sometimes she thinks it would be easier to come in the aftermath, to not know what happened, to not see horrific atrocities occur in real time. She understands now that the pain of the moment can never exceed the woe of the aftermath. ... ... .. .. . .. Reign makes her first appearance. It doesn't end well.

Six months ago, Maggie had noped the hell out of National City, because certain things were above her paygrade, certain things were too fucking uncontrollable, and maybe because she was running from Alex... but somehow even when she runs from National City, all of its drama still seems to follow her. lll Maggie runs into a familiar face while undercover. It all goes to hell.

On the bad nights, they sit in silence, meticulously avoiding the thoughts that really bring them here, after all this time. Thoughts of pain and suffering and not being able to do enough for those who'd entrusted their lives to them the most. It isn't easy. ll Maggie struggles sometimes, but she isn't alone.

Secured to a pipe in a room with no windows, no furniture, no nothing except for a steel, locked door. Things go from bad to worse in a botched rescue attempt.

The digital clock on the bedside table glows a blurry quarter past four. Who the hell is calling at- Her phone buzzes again. "This had better be good." ... A unusual phone call sends everyone into a frenzy.
