BLUE BLOODS (CBS)

INSOMNIA

This story was my first fanfic that I'd written for this site. I started it during the Summer of my first year at University, eager to develop my craft at writing yet feeling terrified in diving headfirst into the pool of fanfiction, which is crawling with established writers. Blue Bloods had just premiered that winter and from the moment I watched it, I was instantly taken with the potential of brotherly development between Danny and Jamie. Both are my favourite characters and seeing them work together was gold. But I felt that their backstories needed to be explored more, so I had an idea of Jamie being put in a the most vulnerable situation a teenager can be exposed to, leaving his brother and family to help him and not rest a moment until they do. The villain of this story is an underlying phantom who menacingly appears at the end. I had a lot of fun and support writing this story and it will always remain one of my favourites.

A VERY REAGAN CHRISTMAS

That Christmas following my first Blue Bloods fic, I had an idea to explore the Reagan family some more through snippets of their childhood. The whole concept of the show is built upon the family dynamic and the theme of trust and the bond between parents, children and siblings. I started writing it around December, feeling very much in the Christmas spirit and eager to have some lighthearted fun with the Reagan family. Then I remembered of course that underneath all that familial bond is an underlying pain due to loss. So I started the story from Jamie's first Christmas, when they were all children, young and innocent. Then as the years thundered on, and they grew older, Christmas started to mean a lot more than just presents and fun. It's something that I experienced personally while growing up, the transition from childhood to adulthood and the element of Christmas in that. Since the show year I have begun to incorporate the storylines from the show and will continue to update every Christmas for as long as Blue Bloods is on air.

*DEATHLY VENGEANCE

After the long and rewarding success of Insomnia, I felt nervous about attempting another Blue Bloods story but as soon as I started writing, I couldn't stop! Again we deal with another (slightly younger) teenage Jamie. But the relationship between him and Danny is quite tense due to the events that happen in this story. I also wanted to explore the dangers of fighting fire with fire which is the main theme of this story. It takes place in my 'universe' of Blue Bloods, in the sense that the characters I introduced in Insomnia are playing major roles in this story. Whether or not they exist in the same 'universe' as Insomnia, that I have left entirely up to the reader. I stopped writing this story due to University priorities but I shall get back on track soon.

OUT OF THE WOODWORK

This is a one-shot I quickly wrote in order to take my mind off a long and tiring essay. This story is one of my funniest ones but the story is actually based on a true tale that involves my Mum and uncle! I had heard it for years but then one night, I thought how fitting it would be if I used Danny and Jamie in place of my mother and her little brother. I know they won't mind be borrowing their story so long as I give them some credit!

THE BREAK-IN

This storyline was requested by one of my readers, jessieklove. I enjoyed writing a more vulnerable side to Jamie and his internal struggle of whether he should be a cop or not.

DOWNTON ABBEY (itv)

*FALL OF THE HOUSE OF GRANTHAM

This is one of my favourite stories as it really helped shape my confidence and find my 'voice' as a writer. It is also my first (and only for now) Downton fic and I felt tremendously nervous taking a bite of this one! Downton Abbey is a worldwide phenomenon and the fanfiction is exploding with amazing stories. My idea was something that occurred after watching the second series. WW1 was the main theme of that series but while they were all celebrating the end of the first war, we know that the second war was lurking round the corner. So I decided to explore a story in which Matthew and Lady Mary Crawley are the Earl and Countess of Grantham, living in Downton Abbey with their children.

The stories surrounding fanfiction at the time were all taking place after the surprise of the 2011 Christmas special, so I wanted to throw our favourite couple twenty years into the future when WW2 is just about to break. The story opens with Chamberlain's infamous speech and then thunders through the tumults and trials of the Crawley family. This story is also my first proper attempt at a period piece. Just finding the right kind of tone and the amount of research undertaken to make this story as real as possible. As there is so much to write and so much story to tell, I decided to go on a small hiatus just until Uni is finished.

This is a story I want to explore more of but due to lack of time, I'm unable to at the moment. I'm a fan of both shows and I loved the idea of a Monroe/Emma dynamic in a brother/sister type of way. I'm aware that it is a hard story to write but I'm determined to make it work!
