Author has written 2 stories for Kim Possible. Hi, I'm Epicurus, also (and, I venture, better) known as Diogenes on the KPSH forums. Epicurus was a Greek philosopher who lived between the fourth and third centuries B.C. who taught that pleasure and pain were the measurements of human happiness, and that the good life was the one lived simply and in the company of many friends. He theorized that death was final and rejected the idea of an afterlife, therefore it was meaningless to fear it. He founded the Epicurean school of philosophy, and if you actually care about this, Wikipedia can tell you much more than I can. I use this name, basically, because it isn't taken and because he was a rough contemporary of Diogenes of Sinope, from whom I took my forum handle. I am a college student and a history major, and I sometimes write stories. I actually do a great deal more writing than ever shows up here, though I'm doing my best to change that at the moment. I'll warn you now, though, that I'm a glacially slow writer. If you are for some reason hanging desperately on to see what the next chapter of any of my two stories has in it, I can only guarantee disappointment. Because you will be waiting a long time. That aside, as of right now I write for the Kim Possible fandom, and I can't really tell you why. I'm not the sort of person that often gets involved in fandoms, so this one comes as a bit of a mystery to me. On the other hand, I've found a deep and abiding interest in some of the characters. One in particular, really, and if you notice any patterns in my writing, it's pretty obvious which one. Though my stories tend to follow one particular romantic pairing, they aren't so much about that. I prefer drama to pure romance anyway, but I sometimes weave romantic themes into dramatic stories as parts of character arcs. Which is all a very complicated way of saying that I don't really write fluff. I prefer realism, making my interest in Kim Possible a bit odd, since the show itself is essentially a deconstruction of superhero clichés rather than a realistic story in its own right. It helps that I don't so much watch the show, I suppose. Anyway, there's very little more that I can say about my stories. Check them out. You might enjoy them. As of mid-May, 2011 work is well underway for Chapter One of The Bagman's Gambit, but I've decided to take an indefinite break from that to work on another story, which has proven to be a lot more interesting, fun, and challenging to write, and which will eventually be posted here. |
