I began to write fan fiction in 2001 as a way to stay present in a world that was only receiving new installments every few years. That early work (ca. 2002-03) reflects my immaturity at the time - I was barely a teenager - but very little is embarrassing enough to warrant removal from the Internet.

In 2009, I re-read the Harry Potter series for the first time as an adult while on a lengthy stay in Italy. Having now experienced the sort of relationships my fiction often tried to explore, I turned to writing once again in order to pass the time and air out the stories that popped into my head. I rarely bother to write these days, but when I do, it is often because what is missing in a book or movie or tv show begs to be filled in and my mind has tried to do that filling on its own. Mostly, then, this is a form of catharsis, and I hope it serves that purpose for those of you reading as well.
