Hello my lovely Bats! Welcome to our change room. Quick itinerary, I'm going to introduce myself, then what expect as captain.

So hi! I'm Lily. This is my second year in Quidditch. Last year, I played as keeper. That was going to be my back up choice this year, but I saw it was already taken. It's a nice fun role. I'm in the MST mountain time, so most challenges start at 5 am here. I'm usually still asleep. Because the bats are "cursed" I wanted to try my hand at captain this year.

Last year was a mess from the very beginning. One of our members went completely AWOL. Several had real life get in the way, and had to quit. By the end of the season, only two of us had been there from round 1 and one, maybe 2 side a round or two later. This challenge is meant to be fun, and it totally can be. But it's definitely more fun when you at least win a few instead of constantly losing because of a lack of people.

My rules:

1) I take the commitment statement seriously. This is a team experience. By signing up, you are telling your teammates that you will be here until the end, and that if you can't be there, you will let us know with as much notice as possible. While I recognize life takes sudden turns, I know it is possible to get on for 5 minutes and send at least one teammate a message or post it.

2) this leads me to my second rule: Please check in one a day. Just catch up in here, maybe say something, or send a message to me saying you're still here. When rounds start, if you haven't said anything by the end of my day (probably by midnight MST), I'll send you a message. If I don't get a response by the end of the following day, I'll put out feelers for the possibility of a reserve. If by the end of the third day we still haven't heard from you, I'll get any reserve that has responded to my post. This week help alleviate the panic we had last year and put accountability on each person.

3) I really do want us to have FUN! I promise is can be lots of fun. I just think it will be more fun to win more than one round. So all these rules are in an attempt to fix problems from last year. The following rules are going to be role specific.

4) Try to upload stories about a week before due dates so we have the maximum time to edit. If you have other betas, use them too.

Seeker: Without a doubt, you have the most stressful role. I beg that you try to be online a good while before the round is posted so that you can get started the second it is. Do your best to write a story that fits all of the parameters in as short an amount of time as possible. Do your best on SPaG. This will help making sure we get the bonus points. If you miss it, then definitely take your time. You have first dibs on any and all prompts that require teams to choose. Your goal is to write as fast as possible and be the first to post and you need to be able to do so without waiting for others to decide. From there, prompts will be first come first serve. If there's a prompt that affects the whole team, like having to write a character, let's try to discuss as a team, but if no one is around, make a decision, hopefully taking into account what you've learned about your teammates.

Keeper: We need to do everything in our power to get you full points so the other team is knocked down. The best thing to do will be to find a beta, and have your teammates read it. That way more SPaG will be caught to create fewer point deductions.

Chasers: Prompts will have a rotating cycle for choice. Since I've seen that works for many teams. In other words, the prompt choice will be C1, C2, C3 in round 1 and then in round 2 C2, C3, C1 and so on and so forth. It will be up to you to message each other and then pick them in or send them to me to send in. I also think you should try to use all of the prompts allowed. So 3 each. If it makes it more fair, choose one prompt at a time and combine the rotation until you all have 3 prompts.

Beaters: The same Chaser rules apply to you. I think you need to do your best to use all five prompts between the two of you. We stand a better shot at blocking them this way.

Captain: I am going to say that, I will do my best to uphold these rules. As well as do everything in my power to help everyone where I can. I'm going to follow the same rules as keeper, since the higher my score, the higher the double. I'm also going to do my best to be up when rounds are posted, but I rarely sleep, so I might sleep through my alarm. But I'm going to try.

If you feel I've missed anything, or that one of my rules and unfair or too strict, feel free to say something here or over private message. I'll listen, and maybe something will change. As I've said, these are in an attempt to fix a lot of the problems from last year, so that maybe we can break the "curse" on the bats.

Hi there! I'm Teddie Jean, playing Keeper. I will always make sure to post stories within their allotted time frame, but I'm informing you now that I live in a place where I may possibly go a day or two without internet - not longer, because I'm taking classes online that I need to get to, so I won't go any longer than that. Just letting you know that if you don't see me for a day or two, I haven't gone AWOL.

Anyway, I'm in my early twenties, Eastern Standard Time (Boston) until next week and then Central European Time (Florence, Italy) for the rest of the year. Currently a dance instructor, theater groupie, and training to be a social worker. Harry Potter junkie (obviously).

A couple of questions - I'm presuming that the deadline dates for each round will be posted, correct? And where will the story prompts be?

Hello Teddie! Thank you for that heads up. I'll make sure we keep that in mind. I'm jealous of both your time zones! I LOVE Massachusetts and wish I could even go to Europe.

I'm also early twenties and I'm going to school to be an elementary school teacher. I think we're going to get along pretty well.

To answer your questions: 1) Yes. They will be after the round starts. But it's going to be two weeks after it starts, on the day said. So I think most rounds are posted Friday. So two weeks after round one starts, our will be due the next day on Saturday. 2) They will post them as a new topic in "round 1" "round 2" ect.
