Epilogue:
40 years later, Castle Hill, Maine
(EPOV)
I looked around the cafeteria trying to ignore all the noise of all our fellow students. I had gotten use to reading a bunch of minds at once and was able to ignore most of it without the help of my wife.
However, I could still do without the minds that had dirty thoughts about my wife. I narrowed in on a junior that was currently undressing my wife with his mind. Suddenly his mind was gone from me. I narrowed my eyes then glanced out of the corner of my eyes at my wife.
"You were growling," she gave me a pointed look. I sighed and wrapped my arm around her shoulders then kissed her cheek.
"Sorry," I apologized to her. She smiled and shook her head before going back to her book. She still sat with an apple in her hand that she would occasionally bring up to her lips but never bite.
Alice was watching a tense Jasper. He still struggled with his thirst from time to time. Alice was always looking out for his future to make sure he didn't slip.
Is he okay? Alice directed her thoughts to me. I answered her as subtly as I could, using my eyes to look up then down. As subtle as I was it still didn't go unnoticed by Jasper.
"I'm fine, Alice. You don't need to have Edward check on me." He sighed.
"I'm sorry." Alice smiled apologetically.
"You know what your problem is, Jasper." Emmett spoke up. I got wind of his mind and couldn't help but start to laugh.
"Oh this is going to be good." I snickered. Bella looked up from her book at me. I shook my head. I was going to leave this all for Emmett.
"What?" Jasper was mildly curious but also slightly annoyed. He didn't want to be told what his problem was.
"PMS," Emmett announced. I snickered and shook my head. Bella and Alice looked slightly amused, but Rose was giving him an incredulous look.
"What?" she hissed at him.
"Jasper here suffers from constant PMS." Emmett said again. "Think about it. There are five hundred and thirty students at the school, at least half is female. Average in four weeks per month and you get roughly at least sixty-six females suffering PMS at once. Since Jasper here is Emo, he suffers from it too and more so since he's taking on all of it. It explains why he's so crabby at school. P…M…S." Emmett finished his explanation. By this time I was shaking I was laughing so hard. Bella was shaking with her own laughter. My sister was desperately trying to hold it in. Rose shook her head and then smacked him in the back of the head.
"What was that for?" He complained.
"That has to be the stupidest explanation ever. PMS? Really?" Rose glared at him.
"Emmett, when we get home, you might want to run. Heck, you might want to start running now." I chuckled.
Jasper was calculating in his mind a way to get him back.
"What? I was just trying to be helpful. Isn't PMS the explanation that Alice gave you when Bella first ignored you?" Emmett asked me, but was watching Jasper warily.
"My explanation made more sense. She's a girl, I didn't know she was a vampire. Well actually I did. But what was I supposed to say to him? 'Hey, Edward, that girl you just met, well she's a vampire. And she doesn't hate you, she wants to drink your blood. But don't worry, she normally drinks from animals. So she's going to keep her distance from you so she doesn't slip. But at the same time she's going to try to get used to your scent by hiding out in your room while you're at school. She will even come at night while you're sleeping to test herself. But don't worry, Emmett will be with her to keep her from attacking you in your sleep. You might want to be careful with your sleep talking because it might give Emmett some teasing materials. However, if she knows that you like her too it might make this easier. Because see, she's your soulmate. You're going to be together. And when I mean together, I mean for a very long time, like eternity, since you will become a vampire too.' Please if I had told Edward all that in the beginning I may now be in some sort of asylum and he would have high tailed it out of Forks and would be miserable at our Dad's old firm. Where he would die alone in our family house of influenza." Alice rambled out.
Bella looked amused until Alice mentioned that I would've left, her face fell and she looked so sad. I reached under the table and squeezed her hand gently. She leaned into me with a smile.
"You saw all that then?" Rose eyebrows were all most into her hairline.
"Um, maybe?" Alice gave a hesitant smile before grabbing her tray and skipped away from the table. Jasper shook his head. He stood up, pointed to his eyes with two fingers then at Emmett with one. He turned and followed to the doors. Alice glanced back at me. Sorry, I didn't mean to go off like that. You may have some damage control. She gave me a sheepish smile before walking off.
"Ed, man, help a brother out. What is he planning?" Emmett whispered.
"Not sure, he keeps changing his mind." I shrugged when he groaned. I had grown close to both of the over the years. I enjoyed talking with Jasper on an intellectual level. He was really intelligent and he enjoyed going to school. He shared different views of history with me that wasn't often found in books. Emmett became someone that I could just let go and goof around with. He had taught me not to be so serious all the time.
In fact, I have gotten close with most of the family. Rose and I will probably never be real close, but we do get along now. We did have one time when I accidently saw what happened to her in her human past with her ex-fiancé, Royce King. She didn't know Bella had her uncovered and she was upset with both of us for awhile. Not that I blamed her too much, I understood that it was something she didn't want anyone else to ever know. I think she had even censored Emmett from some of it and I saw all of it by mistake. Bella had felt horrible even though it wasn't her fault. Rose eventually calmed down and we pretended it never happened. I did my best to block her from then out.
"Want to skip the rest of the day," I whispered to my wife. She looked up at me and nodded with a smile, but it didn't reach her eyes.

I pulled her outside and to my car. "Maybe we can take my Vanquish out this weekend. It has been awhile since it has been out." She nodded. She had given me a new Vanquish for Christmas. I was now on my tenth vanquish each one had been a gift from Bella. The first was a wedding present.
"If you want to." Bella answered unemotionally. I sighed as I pulled down our driveway. I parked and sped to her side to hold her door. Instead of going to the house I pulled her towards the woods.
"Where are we going? We just hunted last night." Bella asked.
"Let's go to our meadow." I scooped her up and placed her on my back. I got a more genuine smile on her face. I zipped through the woods and we got to our meadow in no time. We had found a similar quiet place each new place we lived in.
I stopped and pulled us into the grass with her sitting on my lap. I brushed her hair over her shoulder and gave her neck a small kiss.
"Alright, beautiful, tell me what is bothering you." I nuzzled her neck.
"Nothing, I'm fine." She lied.
"Love, that is not true and you know it." I tugged on a strand of her hair.
"I'm being foolish, don't mind me." She shook her head.
"Isabella, I can't fix it if you don't let me." I tried again.
Have you ever wished you never met me?
"You're right, that is foolish. Never once." I shook my head. "Why would you even think that?"
I don't know. Alice got me thinking. What if she did tell you the truth at the beginning? Would you have really just left?
I sighed heavily before kissing her cheek. "I was a different person before I met you, love. If you could even call me a person. I think robot would almost be better. If right off the bat Alice had told me something like that I probably would've thought she was crazy and needed help. You know how long it took me to believe that vampires existed. It wouldn't have personal though, my decision would have been made premature without all the facts." My answer made her frown. "But I'm glad I never made that decision to leave. If I had left I would've been alone and miserable. I would've died alone without anyone there. So I'm happy she waited. Though if I remember correctly, I still handled it poorly. I wish I did handle it better." I kissed her lips lightly. "You've made me a better person…vampire, don't ever doubt it. I have never been happier."
"As I said, I was being foolish." She gave me a small smile.
"We all can be at times. Emmett most of the time." I snickered. She started to laugh.
"Do you think it's true, that Jasper suffers from constant PMS that is why he has such a hard time at school?" She giggled. Her bad mood was gone.
"I don't know, but I do know not to mention it again." I laughed.
"What is he going to do to Emmett?" she begged.
"He's going to paint his jeep bubble gum pink and even change the tires and steering wheel to pink. Alice is going to make pink seat covers. Plus, if Emmett hits his horn 'I'm woman hear me roar' will blast out." I told her. Her eyes widened and she shook with laughter.
"He's going to flip." She laughed so hard she almost slipped off my lap.
"I plan on installing a camera in the garage just to capture the moment he sees it." I laughed with her.
I leaned in to kiss her at the same time I tugged at her shirt. Don't rip it. She told me in her head as she started to kiss me back. I had a bad habit of ripping her shirts when we started anything. She only hated it when we were away from home and she had to wear my shirt back. But I had a hard time controlling myself when she lowered her shield and talked to me in her mind.
She straddled me and then pushed me backwards on the grass. Just before we could continue my phone went off. She sighed and started to slide off. I held on to her though stopping her. It could be important.
I sighed and pulled the phone out with a brief glance I answered the phone.
"Hey Jacob, what's up," I sat up and Bella stayed straddled on my lap. She decided to distract me by nibbling on my ear.
"Hey, Edward, I'm sorry to bother you. How are you and Bella?" he asked politely but I could tell something was off with his voice. Bella pulled back realizing the same thing.
"We are good. What's going on with you?" I asked curious if he need another loan for the garage I helped him open years back.
"I'm doing well and so is the family. But I have some unfortunate news. Charlie passed away in his sleep last night." He informed me softly.
"Was is it of natural causes?" I questioned, Bella rubbed my arm softly.
"From what we can tell. Sue didn't request an autopsy. Should she?" Jacob sounded concerned. Charlie had married Sue Clearwater about thirty-five years ago.
"No, I'm sure it isn't necessary." I shook my head.
"So um…are you guys planning on coming in for the funeral?" Jacob's voice sounded hesitant and I knew why. They suspect having vampires near triggered them turning into wolves. The pack that was there when we were had stopped phasing which means a new line would start if they were right. One, if not two, might be Jacob's grandsons and they were still fairly young. So of course he would be protective. I glanced at Bella for her thoughts. It's up to you.
"I think we will just send flowers or something. I know you have suspicions that we trigger the wolf gene. I think it's best if we keep our distance from that area to play it safe." I explained.
I could hear Jacob's sigh of relief. "No hard feelings." He sounded apologetic.
"Of course not. Let us know if there is anything we can do," we said our good-byes and hung up. We were silent for a moment.
"Are you okay?" Bella asked. She shifted in my lap slightly so she was no longer straddling me.
"Yeah. I knew it would probably happen someday." I shrugged. We kept in touch over the years with Charlie. I hated that we could never visit him in person. There was some relief that he was never alone though. He gained two step kids when he married Sue and they had children so he was a grandfather. He had been very happy and content with his life.
We sat there for a few minutes and I was just content holding her. Our moment had past for now. I decided to tell her something that I have been thinking about.
"So I was think that when we move next of not going to school, but working at a clinic. I think I can handle the minor cases. I don't think I'm ready for traumas yet, but I think I should be able to handle cases of the flu or minor issues like bloody noses. What do you think?" I have been to medical school twice over the years.
"I think you make a great doctor. Kids will love you. So will their mothers, so maybe you need me as a helpful nurse." She grinned at me.
"Are you saying you will be jealous?" I grinned crookedly at me.
"No more jealous than you would be if I decided to be a waitress at a bar that required uniforms to be daisy dukes and a halter top." She smirked back at me.
"That's never going to happen." I growled playfully. She laughed and tousled my hair playfully.
"Seriously though, if you want to try to be a doctor, I know you will succeed." She kissed me lightly on the lips.
"Thank you, love." I kissed her once lightly and then stood with her in my arms.
"We should probably go make sure Alice knows about Charlie." I placed her on her feet.
"I'll race you back." I challenged and she rolled her eyes. She had yet to beat me in a race since I had become a vampire. I was faster than everyone that I had come across.
"You're on," Bella accepted the challenge. She had a mischievous look in her eyes. She had closed off her mind so I had no idea what she was up to.
"On your mark, get set, GO!" No sooner than 'go' was out of my mouth and I was assaulted with images of our past.
Starting off with images from Forks' prom. Then from our wedding. She walking towards me on Carlisle's arm in a meadow with only our family and the Denalis in attendance.
Next I saw our honeymoon on a tropical island that apparently Esme owned. I had wanted to buy Bella her own island one day but she had refused.
Suddenly we were back on top of Mt. Everest where we hiked up ten years ago and then made love on the top of it.
The images cleared and I was standing in the meadow alone. She had distracted me to get a head start. I scowled as I started to run. I had to hand it to her it was sneaky but a very smart move.
I nearly caught up to her just in time for her to enter the yard first. She turned and threw her arms up over her head in victory. "I won" she cheered.
"That was cheating," I shook my head trying not smile.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." She put her arms down smiling.
"She definitely crossed first," Alice spoke up. She was smiling, but her eyes looked slightly sad. I know about Charlie. I already sent a donation to Forks Police in the Masen name. I didn't see until after you and Bella left. Sorry I couldn't warn you.
"How did she manage that? Are you losing your touch, Einstein" Emmett snickered. How about we see how you do at wrestling?
"She didn't win fair and square, she purposely let down her shield and showed me images to distract me." I gave her a pointed look. Like this. Emmett then proceed to show a disturbing image of him stripping for Rose. "I didn't need to see that." I gave him a disgusted look and he smirked. I decided then I was helping Jasper with his little project.
"Did you have rules about not using your abilities?" Esme spoke up trying to be the peace keeper.
"No, we didn't and it isn't like he has never used his ability to his advantage, have you?" Bella gave me a triumphant look as my smile dropped slightly.
"Then I say she won fair and square. You were just out smarted." Carlisle chuckled.
"That makes two rare events today." Alice laughed.
"Ha ha. Fine. Congratulations, love," I kissed her softly on the lips.
"Thank you." She smiled sweetly.
The other couples wandered off leaving us to ourselves in the yard. I pulled her close and kissed her harder this time. "How about we go relive some of those memories. Like the one on top of Mt. Everest. There are some mountains not too far from here." I kissed along her neck, she purred in my arms. She pulled away and jumped on my back.
"Love to," she kissed my cheek and held on tight as I ran off again.
A/N: The End.
Charlie lived a good life try and not to be too sad for him. He would be mid to late eighties. Jacob would be close to sixty so it's possible for him to have grandchildren at this point.
So what did you think about Emmett theory of PMS affecting Jasper? Was Bella distracting Edward fair play?
Thank you Jules Bells for inspiring the idea for this story.
I do have some ideas for future stories. I'm currently working on a story for the Ruggeddom contest its being edited as we speak. After that I'm between extending my one shot One Fall Day or another story involving vampward.
Thank you everyone for all your reviews and for reading my story.
