Anger

Derek Morgan was always a protector. He was like Hotch that way. He would take the brunt of anything and stand in total silence. Most of the BAU team was like that. So when Reid was kidnapped by Tobias Hankle, everyone was in their own little bubble of guilt and fear. Reid was like a younger brother to Morgan. They were close, and often teased each other. This made what happened to Reid later, much more than 'personal' for Morgan.

The logical part of Morgan knew that there was nothing he could have done to help Reid or J.J. But the not so rational part of him was thinking that there must have been something he could do, that this was all his fault. The what ifs and if onlys circled his head as he stared in the mirror. Running a chocolate skinned hand over his dark face, he gave a sigh. Muttering a quick prayer to a god he wasn't sure he believed in, Morgan returned to the tech room where Garcia was monitoring everything with hopes of finding Reid.

"Oh my God." Garcia was sitting with Gideon, staring at her screen with terror. Following her eyes, Morgan felt a pang in his chest.

Reid was tied to a chair, his shoulder length chestnut hair was plastered to his face with blood and sweat. His labored breath bled through the computer speakers as his captor kept recording.

"He's been beaten." Gideon's voice was dark, and his eyes shone with rage.

Morgan felt a flash of fury, pain, and fear streak through his body. He banged his fist against the side of the doorway and swore roundly.

"I want this guy's head on a pike!"

Unable to let himself watch the rest of the video, Morgan stomped outside to get some air. They would find this son of a bitch. And when they did, Morgan would make certain that the man never saw the light of day ever again.
