Epilogue
Captain Morrill sat looking out the window of the Intrepid. He didn't like the idea of abandoning ship, but the Intrepid was dead. Her engines were unrepairable without proper parts. The Yorktown was in much better shape and with what they took from the Intrepid they could rebuild the Yorktown. However, even the Yorktown was a hopeless cause because they were stuck deeply inside the Delta Quadrant and even if Yorktown's light speed engines were operational it would take a long time to get home. However, they weren't operational. They were going to have to work on them on the way, but at present the highest speed they could manage would be "Flank Speed" which is the top sub-light speed.
Captain Morrill left the Intrepid, boarded a Star Wolf, and headed to the Yorktown where he would take over as Executive Officer, since Yorktown's XO had been killed in the battle in the Omega Quadrant. Charges had been set on the Intrepid, and when the Yorktown was a safe distance, the charges were ignited which ignited the reactors. Captain Cullens softly said "She was a good ship, and went down fighting." Morrill stood there with tears in his eyes for Intrepid had been his home for 5 years now and he was heartsick that she had to be destroyed.
With that over, the Yorktown set out for Earth.
