Kissing:

After the initial shock of nerves connecting with his automail leg, Ed began to move his foot around. There could be no doubt, Winry was still the best mechanic around. The drag was gone, the movement fluid and painless. Just having her there to bicker with and that scary wrench made him feel at home again. With elation he began to move around the room, the relief spreading through him.

"Seriously though Win, just hit me so I can kiss you already." He said slightly out of breath and grinning cheekily.

Time seemed to freeze as she processed what he had said, her expression one of shock. Yeah, he felt that too as he slowly tasted the aftermath of his own words. It wasn't like they weren't true, but he had never taken this step and it felt foreign.

"That's not funny Ed."

His elation began to ebb, "I wasn't' being funny."

He must have shocked her because she had gone silent; a silent Winry was worrisome.

Edward leaned forward because if he didn't try and kiss Winry Rockbell in that moment he might never find the courage.

Winry had a hand stretched out, palm against his chest. "Don't do this."

How did she not feel it? It was pulsating through the room, the beat so loud in his eardrums he could barely think.

"Don't do what?"

Winry blinked rapidly, her hand lingering in place before slowing falling to her side allowing him to take a step closer.

"Edward Elric, if you're going to kiss me after all this time, you better mean it."

"So bossy." He murmured, all their fears were so irrelevant in the wake of a promised day and the dead returning to walk the earth.

When he kissed his best friend, he thoroughly believed that things wouldn't change. In fact it was just something he had wanted to do, it wasn't supposed to be a catalyst.

He was so wrong. It wasn't the earth-shattering fireworks that he had heard about, instead it was a feeling of completeness and ease. A simple warmth and touch that he hadn't known he had been missing out on until this moment.

Winry leaned into him, the pressure of her lips on his deepening the kiss until he swore, he could feel it all over. And just like that he was ruined because the second she stepped back he was left wanting more.

"That was…" He grinned.

Winry had a pretty blush on her cheeks and when she grinned back at him, he took a second to soak it up. They had things to talk about, issues to sort out, a history of missed opportunities, but for now he would bask in this feeling and if he was lucky, she'd let him kiss her again.
