A/N: Here it is, the long awaited epilogue and that is utterly my fault. Thank you to everyone who reviewed the last chapter, I truly appreciate all the support and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for coming on this journey with me. Hopefully this short, final chapter will give everyone the closure they were hoping for. It only seemed right to end it on this note.
For the final time, * * sniffles * * enjoy!

Worlds Apart: Chapter 49
150 years later…
Maya walked out onto the wooden docks, looking out as the sun's rays glittered against the surface of the water. Beside her the wooden ship slowly bobbed up and down with the small harbor current.
She'd always heard the Grey Havens were beautiful and sure enough, the sight before her did not disappoint. The elves of Middle-Earth had long since moved on and Lindon was a ghost town, its beauty seemingly preserved under a soft blanket of golden sunlight.
"Are you well, Nana?"
Maya turned towards her daughter, nodding slowly. Saying goodbye to Middle-Earth was going to be harder than she thought, more so because once her family crossed the sea to Valinor, her other life on Earth would slowly become nothing more than a faint memory. Her apartment in New York, her years at college and her job; Maya already felt as though she'd dreamed them all. What she missed most of all were her friends, outliving those she cared about was the hardest part about being immortal.
"I miss them, Ëarwen," she said, thinking of Jen's contagious smile and Justin's talent for making anyone laugh. They and their children had been gone for many, many decades now but the memory of having to say goodbye to them one by one still pained Maya.
Ëarwen took her mother's hand and gave it a small squeeze. "We all do."
Not only had they lost many loved ones to the ravages of time, but one by one their immortal friends had begun to sail to the west. Maya couldn't deny that she had greatly missed the antics of Elladan and Elrohir, and she longed to see Tauriel and Veryan again. Even King Thranduil had embarked on the journey west and Legolas was anxious to be reunited with his father.
"Are we all ready to go?" Maya asked, watching as Legolas approached the dock, holding his granddaughter Elenya. Not far behind were Eryn and his wife, making sure that they had all they needed for the long journey.
They were the last of their kind in Middle-Earth and Maya knew it was time for them to leave; time to rejoin the elves and time for her family to be reunited with other loved ones who'd sailed long before.
"I believe we have everything," Legolas said, looking satisfied as he gazed over the boat that he and Gimli had labored over for the last year. That was when he realized they may have forgotten one thing…
"Wait for me!" the sound of the dwarf growling could be heard all the way from the docks as he huffed and puffed his way over. "I swear if ye leave me here I will…hang ye…by yer ears…"
Gimli's face was as red as his beard when he finally reached the dock, looking less than enthused.
"Ye were going to forget me weren't ye," he grumbled, eliciting laughter from the elves as they loaded their worldly possessions on the boat.
"You slept in," Legolas replied impishly.
"Ye should have woken me!" Gimli said as he continued to pout.
Maya snickered and patted him on the back. If the dwarf hadn't indulged in so much ale the night before, he might have heard their multiple attempts to wake him. One thing was certain; he was definitely going to feel that hangover once they reached the open water.
Once everything was loaded up, they each said goodbye in their own way to the place they'd called home.
"Everything will be alright," Legolas said, snaking his arms around Maya. He lovingly kissed her lips and she sighed deeply, a small smile playing at the corner of her mouth. "You're right," she said, "Everything will be okay."
Legolas watched his family climb onto the boat one by one and lower the sails. He looked over at Gimli who was still trying having trouble breathing from his morning sprint.
"Would you like me to set up a ladder or will you be able to climb on your own?" he quipped. He half expected a grumble from the dwarf, but Gimli surprised him by erupting into a hearty laugh.
"Well played elf, well played." He said, patting Legolas on the arm and staring back at the town of Lindon. The sun was beginning to set, bathing the town in a veil of pink and orange hues. "I suppose this is it."
"I suppose it is," agreed Legolas, his heart feeling a little heavy. "We have come a long way. "
After a few moments, the elf and the dwarf rejoined the rest of their party and at long last, the boat set sail and the final voyage to the undying lands began.
Maya leaned against the side of the boat, watching as the shore shrunk in the distance. Her other life was now nothing more than a vivid dream, but she knew that the people who'd touched her heart would always be with her; as painful as it had been to let them go.
The sound of footsteps behind her pulled her from her reverie and she turned to see Legolas standing behind her. The sight of her husband brought an instant smile to her face and she snaked her arms around him, resting her head against his chest. If she had to do it over again, she would do it the same way every time.
"I love you," she whispered into his chest.
Legolas kissed the top of her head and held her tightly. "I love you too."
"Would ye look at that," Gimli said with amazement as he came up beside them to watch the last sunset they would ever see in Middle-Earth. "It's perfect."
As the swirls of oranges and pinks slowly gave way to dusk, Maya remembered the words of the Vala, Estë, on that cold night in Central Park so very long ago. She would have to sacrifice much for love, and she had, but what she got in return was worth so much more.
Gimli was right. It was perfect.
