My apologies for taking so long to get an update posted. I've had to bury three relatives this winter. Add to that, I was hospitalized due to the flu for several days. Since it is coming up on Valentine's Day, for this update I am giving our Tardis family a nice, peaceful holiday before I subject them to the events of series seven. Enjoy.
Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who.
Aboard the Tardis…
In the two years that have passed since the 'death of the Doctor', the family within the time ship have kept a pretty low profile. At first the Doctor was horrified and angry with his family for their interference on the fixed point in time. Yet, when he learned just how much planning his wife, their son, and Jenny put into enacting it, he eventually forgave them. Eventually. It took the Doctor nearly four months of heavy brooding before he finally conceded.
Now, the Doctor has a plan of his own to enact. One that, hopefully, will go off without a hitch. For you see, today is Valentine's Day back on Earth and the Doctor wants to do something special for Rose. Especially since she has been raising the two youngest members of the Tardis, Donna and Oliver.
Standing by the console of his ship, the Doctor begins to set in the coordinates for Earth.
"Dad." Comes the voice of their oldest son, Jack.
"Jack." The Doctor replies without looking at his son. His married son.
"What are you doing?"
The Doctor continues moving around the console as he answers his son's question.
"I'm taking your mother out to celebrate a certain human holiday. She does so much for us that it's time that we show her our appreciation. Or more specific, I'll be showing her my appreciation. You children are on your own."
Jack begins to lean against the rail that surrounds the console, watching his father closely.
"Well I've already got plans, dad."
"Do these plans include River Song?" The Doctor asks before looking up and over to where his son is. His eyes rake over the clothes that his son is currently wearing, and tries hard not to suppress a smirk at seeing Jack in a nice suit.
"You know they would. We are married after all." Jack replies before starting to fiddle with a cuff-link on his dark navy-blue suit jacket.
"Well you were the one who decided to marry her." The Doctor teases while also enjoying nervous twitch Jack shows when reminded of his marriage to River. "I do hope you asked Amy and Rory for permission to take her out. Still feels strange knowing that their daughter Melody married my boy Jack."
Jack's face starts to go red with embarrassment at his father's teasing. Ever since his wedding to River Song, Jack has only spent a total of 29 days with his wife. Most of those days were spread out over the last two years. He hasn't seen River since their last meet up over four months ago.
"If I hadn't married her, dad, then you'd have become a bigamist. Don't think mother would have been happy at having to share you with another woman."
The Doctor doesn't respond to Jack's comments, but moves away from the console so that he may stand in front of his son.
"My hearts belong to your mother, Jack. Yes, I've been married before, but it was never a love match like it is between myself and Rose." The Doctor says before raising a hand to brush some of Jack's blond wavy hair out of his eyes. "I never wanted my children to marry unless it was for love. Jack, I'm still not happy that you took my place on that beach. Or that you had to resort to marrying River Song to correct her mistake of not following the events of a fixed point in time. But you are an adult and it's your life to do with as you please. Rose and I just want to see you happy."
Jack looks into his father's eyes and can see the emotions that Jack can't feel through their familial mental bond.
"I can be happy with River, Dad." Jack tells the Doctor as he tries to put on a brave face.
"You sure?"
"I'm sure."
"Okay then." The Doctor says, taking a step back from his son. "I hope you and River have many happy years together."
A beeping sound comes from the console letting the Doctor know that the Tardis is approaching its destination. The Tardis mentally nudges the Doctor into retrieving Rose for his plans. She lets her lights turn to a warm pink color in the control room to help set the mood for the Doctor. This sends her thief and their oldest cub laughing.
"Looks like the Tardis is excited about helping with your plans, Dad."
"She's in on it. Been having to keep it a secret from Rose for nearly a week. It hasn't been easy for me and her to keep Rose from knowing about it." The Doctor gives his son a grin before setting out to find Rose.
"You two have fun." Jack calls out to the Doctor.
"You too. And don't do something I or your mum would do."
Jack lets out a chuckle before making his way over to console to begin the landing cycle. Once he lands the Tardis, Jack plans on heading out to meet up with River for their own plans.
The Doctor makes his way through the many corridors of his ship till he comes to the door that leads to his and Rose's bedroom. Slowly, he opens the door and he can't help the smile that appears on his face. As quietly as he can, the Doctor slowly walks over to their bed and takes in the sight of napping wife. She is lying upon his side of the bed on her side. Her blonde hair is fanned across his pillow with a small puddle of drool coming from her partially opened mouth. Then his eyes come to a stop at her left hand resting against her abdomen, and he lets out a soft sigh of defeat at not being able to give Rose another child. She is adamant at being able to give him a child from this regeneration, but the Doctor is starting to believe that it may not be possible.
Pulling himself away from falling into a brooding mood, the Doctor moves to sit on the edge of the bed. He leans down to place a kiss against Rose's cheek while mentally prodding her through their bond. He holds back a chuckle at Rose's mental response.
"Wuzz havin' a good dream." Rose mumbles out as she scrunches her face in annoyance of having to wake up.
"What good is a dream when you've got me?" The Doctor retorts suggestively and wiggles his eyebrows when he sees Rose's eyes open.
Rose lets out a groan as she stretches her body out on their bed. Then she yawns and tries to bury her face into the Doctor's pillow.
"Come on Rose, up you get. My pillow has already been blessed with your drool for the day. We need to get properly dressed before leaving the Tardis." The Doctor cheerfully tells her.
"Are we goin' somewhere?" Rose asks after lifting her face out of the Doctor's pillow.
"We are." The Doctor gets up from the bed and heads towards the door that leads to a large closet. "I have dinner reservations for us at this fancy new restaurant that Harkness was bragging about to me."
As the Doctor begins rummaging through clothes hanging in the closet, Rose sits up on their bed and lets out another yawn. Slowly, Rose places her feet on the floor and gets up from the bed.
"Who's goin' to be watching the kids while we are at dinner?" Rose asks, entering the closet to pick out a nice dress for dinner.
"Jenny promised to watch Oliver and Donna for us."
"And Jack?"
"Which one?"
"Our son."
"He has plans with River. Should have seen him, all dressed up in a navy-blue suit. Ten quid says he and River will run into trouble while they enjoy themselves tonight." The Doctor teases as he begins changing into a new ensemble. A light blue button-down with a charcoal blue waistcoat over it, black dress trousers, and a longer, purple frock coat.
Rose, as she pulls out a plum colored multi-style wrap dress, she turns to look at the Doctor. She lets out a gasp of surprise at his outfit, and is wondering if her eyes are playing tricks on her.
"No. Your eyes aren't playing tricks on you, love." The Doctor says as he finishes buttoning up the waistcoat. "Since I am supposed to be dead, I figured it was time for a change of clothes. Figured it was time to put away the tweed and try something a bit trendier."
"Okay." Rose says after having to swallow a lump that had grown in her throat.
He looks over at Rose and gives her a devilish smile. "Nice dress. I can't wait to see it on our floor tonight." He tells her, giving her a wink before leaving her alone in their closet.
"Heaven help me." Rose whispers out softly as she begins getting herself dressed.
Having left Rose back in their room, the Doctor is walking back towards the control room while adding a small pocket watch to finish off his outfit.
"Dad!"
The Doctor turns around to see Jenny hurrying after him. He gives her a smile as he stops to wait for her to catch up to him.
"Looking rather dashing, dad." Jenny says as her eyes roam over her father's clothing.
"That's what I was hoping for. Now, what can I do for you, Jenny?"
"I was just coming to let you know that I plan on ordering pizza. Oliver is whining that he doesn't get to have it often enough, so I plan on doing that for dinner. Then we'll probably find ourselves watching movies in the theater room." Jenny explains as she and her father begin walking to the control room.
"Sounds like a plan. Your mum and I will be out for a while tonight, so don't keep those two awake too late with the movies. And Harkness isn't allowed to come by for a visit or to join you." The Doctor tells his oldest daughter in a serious voice.
"Understood, Dad. Besides, he is too busy to come visit anyways." Jenny says with a soft voice.
"Good. It's bad enough your brother Jack got himself married without thinking it through. I'd at least like to meet a potential suitor and scare him half to death. Just like one of those dads on those teenage dramas Donna has started watching lately."
"I'll keep that in mind when I do decide to date someone, dad." Jenny says, giving the Doctor a forced smile.
"Good." The Doctor says as he rushes up to the console to check over the Tardis while he waits for Rose to join him.
"So where did Jack say he and River were going tonight?" Jenny asks as she leans against the console.
"No idea. What they do is there business. I just hope that he come back with a bunch of kids surrounding him. I don't think I could survive the onslaught any children he and River could create together."
The Doctor has a shiver run down his spine at the idea of just how much trouble those possible children would create for him.
"Come on, Dad. Any children Jack and River were to have together wouldn't be too awful bad. Both of them are smart and resourceful. I think their kids would be just fine."
"Whose kids?" Rose asks as she enters the room, having finished putting on a light amount of make-up and silver sandal high-heels.
"Jack and River's kids." Jenny says with a smirk.
"Future kids." The Doctor is quick to point out.
"Well, if they have them, they have them. It's not like we could stop them." Rose says with a seductive grin on her face.
The Doctor lets out a groan of frustration before speaking again. "Not you too, Rose. I really don't want to have to deal with the possibility of grandchildren till I'm old and gray."
Rose and Jenny laugh at the Doctor's comment as he fetches a pale silver wrap from over the rail. He gently places it over Rose's bare shoulders before nuzzling his nose into her neck.
"Save that for later, Doctor. You owe me a night out." Rose says, stepping away from the Doctor.
"Alright." The Doctor sighs out before looking over at Jenny. "Remember, no one is allowed in the Tardis while we are away."
"Understood, Dad." Jenny says as she watches her parents leave the Tardis.
With the doors closed behind her parents, a pair of arms suddenly reach out and wrap around her waist from behind. Jenny lets out a soft chuckle as a male voice whispers in her ear, "I thought they'd never leave."
A local Valentine's Day Carnival at night…
River Song is pulling on her young husband's hand, dragging him towards the line for the tilt-a-whirls. Even though they had just been on the ride only ten minutes ago, River can't help but enjoy the rushing feeling she gets from the ride.
"Come on, let's do this one again." River pleads to Jack as she tugs on his hand once more.
"River, we've already been on that ride, twice." Jack states, he isn't a huge fan of the ride. He doesn't like the dizzy feeling he gets from it.
"But it's my favorite." River says, stepping closer to Jack so that their chests are pressed against each other's.
"You'll be riding on it alone, without me." Jack huffs out in annoyance.
"Spoilsport." River says before giving Jack a quick kiss to his cheek. However, she gives up trying to get him to go on the ride again. "So which ride should we do now?"
Jack shrugs his shoulders and keeps walking, not caring if River is still holding his hand.
"How about the Ferris wheel? Or the Scrambler? Oh, I know. How about we do some of those toss games?" River suggests, hoping that her husband would perk up a bit on their date.
Yet, all Jack does is let out a sigh and keeps walking through the crowds. He really wasn't expecting to be at the carnival with River, nor was he expecting to be out past midnight either.
"That's it!" River shouts suddenly, finally getting Jack to turn to look at her. "We are doing the photo booth."
"What? Wait, River! No!" Jack says as he finds his wife dragging him across the park, towards a photo booth.
"We're doing this, Jack, whether you like it or not." River says with a smile.
Upon reaching the photo booth, River pulls back the black curtain and shoves Jack into the booth. Then she proceeds to sit down in his lap and wraps her arms around his neck. As the booth takes photos, River does many different faces, while Jack keeps the same, serious face. Eight little pictures come out and River quickly snatches them up to look at them.
"Well these are no good. You're not smiling." She says, shoving the pictures into Jack's face.
"I'm not smiling because I didn't want to do this." Jack grumbles out at River.
"Well, I'll have to fix that." River begins to unbutton her periwinkle blouse before giving the photo machine another round of coins.
Without waiting for Jack to notice what she's doing, River begins to snog the living daylights out of her husband. By the time the third photo is being taken, River can feel Jack's hand pulling her blouse off of her shoulders.
'Round one goes to me.' She thinks to herself before focusing her full attention on their photo booth make-out session.
Elsewhere in the local city, the Doctor and Rose are having their own little make-out session in a small alleyway between a local bookstore and a café shop. The Doctor is fervently leaving a trail of kisses along Rose's neck and shoulder while Rose is running her hands through his hair.
"Doctor." Rose whimpers out as he begins leaving a love bite on the side of her neck. Knowing that she isn't going to be able to speak properly, she nudges him through their bond.
The Doctor lets out a growl at the interruption, and refuses to stop till his task is complete.
"Doctor." Rose whispers out softly, now tugging on his hair to get his full attention.
He releases her skin from between his teeth and allows his face to be guided up. Then he leans in to kiss Rose's pale pink colored lips. Their kiss is broken too soon by Rose, again, tugging at his hair.
"Doctor. We should take this back to the Tardis." Rose says quickly.
"I don't think I can wait that long." The Doctor replies softly before trying to kiss Rose again. However, his endeavor is foiled by her placing a hand between her lips and his.
"We really should. Wouldn't want to be arrested for indecency, do we?" Rose says with a smile on her face.
This causes the Doctor to let out a groan of frustration and he bows his head in defeat. He can only give Rose a cheeky grin before nodding his head. He takes hold of Rose's hand and the two begin to make their way back to the Tardis.
Halfway to their ship, Rose and the Doctor hear the sound of sirens as police cars speed down the road, heading towards the carnival. Neither one thinks too much of it and keep walking. When they reach the Tardis, the Doctor holds the doors open for Rose so that she may enter first.
"Well this is odd." Rose says as she notices that the lights of the ship are dimmed low. "Is the Tardis alright?"
The Doctor closes the door behind himself and quickly begins wondering what his ship is doing with the lights dimmed.
"Well, I didn't plan this." The Doctor tells Rose before reaching out to the Tardis. Upon receiving a response to his ship, he speaks to Rose again. "She says the kids are asleep and that she decided to power down for her own little nap as well."
"So, no one will be able to disturb us then?" Rose asks, giving the Doctor a seductive look.
"Not a single person." The Doctor answers before lifting Rose into his arms and carries her off to their bedroom.
I'll admit, this chapter isn't my best work, but it is what it is. An Early Happy Valentine's Day to you all, and hopefully the next update will be in March.
