It dawn the sunset started coming down preparing for the moon to take its place. Footsteps dug into the snow as laughter filled the air. Two children ran up the hill chasing after one another.
"Dave wait up!" giggled the girl nonchalantly.
"Not a chance Jade!" yelled the boy.
The two made it to the top of the hill; they rested there for a while underneath a tree inhaling and exhaling fiercely. After their breaths caught up to a normal breathing level Dave stood up smirking at Jade.
" I bet ya you can't climb up to the top of the tree."
" I can too!"
"Race you."
"Humph! I'll show you."
Another sought began between the two and Dave was the first to make it to the top of the tree. Jade huffed as she took her seat on the branch on the other side of the tree. Jade was about to say something but got cut off by Dave.
"Look I got you a present." said Dave as he pulled out a jar necklace out of his pockets that contained 3 green stars inside.
Jades eyes sparkled at the gift.
"It's so pretty."
"See these stars, I'll grant you a wish with each one."
"So you're like my magic genie?"
"Maybe."
"Dave!"
Jade smiled brightly causing Dave to make his face a little hot.
"Come down the tree and I'll give it to you."
"So you'll make anything I want come true?"
"Yeah."
Dave slid down the tree, he looked up to see when Jade would come down the tree to join him.
"You getting off?" he asked.
"Soon I like the view from up here."
Silence filled the air as from the distance city lights started to become visible from afar after a few minutes. It was almost time for them to part.
"It's late you coming down yet?"
" I'm going."
Jade was about to come down until a sudden fierce snap was heard from the branch. Time stopped and became slower for Dave taking in everything, watching from behind his pointy shades his eyes widened in fear at the sight of her falling on her back hitting the ground with a loud thud. It all happened so fast, so sudden, not to mention unexpected. The last thing she saw and would ever feel were bloodshot red ruby eyes staring down at her as warm salty sprinkles of water rained on her cheeks. Darkness took over she closed her emerald eyes to sleep and fell into a deep slumber.
