Darra's entire body shook as she held Steve's corpse, her emotions so numerous and so strong she couldn't gain the strength to stand up or even speak. Steve is dead and it was all her fault, she knew it. She helped create the monster that killed him and in the end she was no better than GLaDOS. All in a need to maintain a fixed point in time, she created a monster, killed countless people, and sealed her only daughter's fate.

"You're a horrible person, you know that?" GLaDOS' voice came to Darra's mind.

The tears slid down her cheeks like a flood, drenching Steve's shirt as they fell. She should have tried harder to push him away. Her depressed mind kept nagging her, convincing her that if she had pushed him away, he might still be alive. Suddenly everything went still as a hand gently touched her shoulder, she froze in place for a moment before turning, her eyes following the hand and up the arm towards the Doctor's face.

"I'm sorry, Darra," the Doctor stared at her, his entire demeanor was mournful and heartbroken, "let's get out of here."

"N-no," Darra's voice shook as she finally gained the strength to speak, "I need to find Chell."

"You know as well as I do what's going to happen, she'll be fine."

"Please, I don't want that life for her."

"I'm sorry," the Doctor sighed as he grabbed the collar of Darra's shirt, dragging her into the TARDIS, "but you must leave her."

"Chell!" Darra screamed as the Doctor let go of her collar and quickly closed and locked the TARDIS door. She scrambled onto her feet and stumbled in a mad rush towards the door, after a few failed attempts at opening it, she began to smack the door, "Chell! Chell! No!"

Unable to bring himself to watch the sorrowful situation, the Doctor walked towards the console and began pulling levers and pushing buttons. The TARDIS began to wheeze as it dematerialized. Once she knew there was no hope of saving her daughter, Darra collapsed by the door and sobbed.

The woman's icy blue eyes groggily looked around the familiar and small room. Her arms and legs stretched out as she sat up, placing her bare feet on the cold tile floor below. As she stood up, a glass appeared over the bed, sealing it off. A tiny radio on a box in the corner played the same elevator music as it always did, on a constant loop.

"Hello" a robotic voice spoke over the speakers, "and, again, welcome to the Aperture Science Data Enrichment Center. We hope your brief detention in the Relaxation Vault has been a pleasant one. Your specimen has been processed, and we are now ready to begin the test proper."

"Hey, uh, Darra," Steve's voice echoed in Darra's mind as she stared at his final resting place, "I was wondering… uh… Would you, uh, like to um… have dinner with me sometime?"

"Sure," Darra remembered herself smiling. What was the harm in having one meal with someone?

"Really? Oh good. I was worried you'd say 'no.' That's good then… How does tonight sound?"

"Sounds good to me."

"Alright. I'll pick you up at six…. Er… If that's alright."

"That's perfect."

"I should've refused," Darra sighed as her eyes vacantly peered at the freshly moved dirt, "this is all my fault."

The Doctor turned to look at the forlorn Time Lady beside him. He felt so helpless as he listened to her, he wanted so badly to comfort her, to make it better, but no words came to mind that could possibly help. There was only one thing he could do and there was no way of knowing if she actually wanted it right now, especially from him, beforehand. The Time Lord hesitantly wrapped his arms around Darra and hugged her. To his surprise, Darra's arms were around him, holding onto him tightly as she sobbed into his chest. She could hear his hearts beating in his chest, the warmth of his embrace, and the drenching affect her tears had on his shirt.

"I'm sorry," Darra's voice shook, "I'm making your shirt dirty."

"It's alright," the Doctor gently replied, "it'll wash out."

Chell quietly sighed as she sat on her couch in an apartment. A day off from work at a nearby office complex, no friends to think of, no chores to do. Nothing to do, but sit and stare at the wall across from her. Three months since GLaDOS finally let her go, but Aperture still found a way to creep into her everyday life. It seemed like nothing in the world could refuse the opportunity of reminding her of that dreadful place.

"Chell," a familiar voice pulled Chell out of her thoughts as the owner of the voice knocked on the apartment door, "please open the door."

"Mom?" Chell stared in shock at the door as she stood up, "is that you?" She inched her way towards the door, unsure whether she should open it or not. After finally reaching the doorknob, she decided to open the door. It wasn't long before Darra's arms were around Chell and holding her in a loving embrace.

"Oh Chell," Darra shook as she held her grown daughter, "it's been so long. I've missed you."

"Mom," Chell returned her mother's hug, "I missed you too."

At the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, a small girl skipped through an underwater city. The skirt of her dress swaying with each skip and her right hand clasping onto the handle of a syringe made from needles, tubes, and a baby bottle, all designed to look somewhat like a gun. She giggled as her glowing eyes looked around her, this was paradise. Her little feet stopped in a puddle of red as she excitedly pointed at the corpse at her feet.

"This Angel's got ADAM," she squealed as she kneeled down beside the corpse and stabbed it with the needle. A large brute in a diving suit stood nearby, standing guard over the young girl with its trusty drill.
