REVIEW OVER.

THE CHAPTER STARTS OFF WITH KATE, BUT THE CHAPTER ISN'T ABOUT HER. THIS CHAPTER IS PARALLEL TO THE NEXT ONE. JUST AS A NOTE, AFTER THE FIRST BREAKER LINE IS AT THE SAME TIME AS THE ENDING OF THE LAST CHAPTER.

HERE'S THE NEW LOOK OF KLAWS AND CONNIE: KLAWS IS NOW A WHITE ALPHA WITH BLUE EYES, AND CONNIE IS NOW A GREY ALPHA WITH LAVENDER EYES. I CHANGED IT TO THIS TO MATCH BOTH HUMPHREY AND LILY. SO NOW, HUMPHREY GETS HIS FUR FROM HIS MOTHER, AND HIS EYES FROM HIS FATHER. LILY NOW GETS HER FUR FROM HER FATHER, AND HER EYES FROM HER MOTHER.

The sun rose over Kate's spot for the stormy night. She woke up, but Humphrey wasn't there.

'Humphrey?' She called.

No reply. She stepped out, looking around. No one was there. She heard a bush rustle. She walked to it, thinking he was there. No, she was wrong.

The sun suddenly turned dark, making the world seem black. Kate saw red eyes staring at her through the bush.

She ran. She wished that she was an alpha, someone who could run faster or fight easier. She didn't dare turn around. She could hear footsteps getting louder.

'Humphrey!' She screamed.

He didn't come. The footsteps were louder. She ran faster, her paws hitting the ground.

The beast had grabbed her. She could hear its scary call.

'HEROBR-'

It was the same stormy night in Jasper Park. All the wolves sheltered in their dens, but Lily, Lucy, Tom and Garth were too far, and had to shelter under some roots.

Lucy and Garth cuddled together, like what would be expected from close siblings. Lily and Tom slept on their own. Then, Garth switched to dreamland.

Garth was in the middle of a large battlefield. His sister fought beside him. The sight of battles and blood almost made him faint.

He saw a strong alpha wolf, aiming it him. It ran towards him, and his sister jumped at it. Both wolves were shedding blood fast.

The other wolf bit Lucy's neck, hard. She let out a pained yelp. She got back by biting the other wolf's neck, and saw held on until the body went limp.

Garth ran over to her, but she suddenly fainted, not breathing.

Kate saw that the beast was a wolf with the figure of a human. Its fur was as black as a night sky filled with coal. It scratched her shoulder with a knife-like claw, leaving a deep, crimson scar.

Garth suddenly woke up, breathing heavily. He looked around quickly, recognising the land around him. He turned to see Lucy, still asleep, and breathing, with one paw moving.

'Lucy…' He called.

He stopped himself before getting further. He was loyal, enough not to wake his sister up. He slowly walked away from her, stepping backwards. He narrowly dodged Tom, missing him by a mere claw. He stopped when Lucy rolled over, facing away from him. He curled up so he could almost bite his tail.

Lily was awakened by a tail tickling her back paw. She turned to see the red omega curled up beside her, laying between her front and back legs. He was shaking, Lily knew in fear. She could tell he couldn't sleep.

'Garth…'

He turned his head to her, whimpering almost silently. He was younger and smaller than her, and his eyes made him look like a overgrown pup.

'Why aren't you with your sister?'

Garth looked at his sister, then back at Lily. His eyes turned from the normal, happy green to a scared and upset shade, that had a slight blueish hue. He whimpered as he imagined his sister covered in blood.

'I had a nightmare…' He whispered.

Lily heard his whispers, and pressed her ears against her head. She remembered a nightmare she had as a pup. Humphrey comforted her, and she was slowly regretting what she had done. Lily knew she had to ask about the nightmare to help the young omega.

'Can you tell me what the dream was about?'

Garth didn't seem to care. He was thinking back to the dream, thinking, thinking of how to describe it.

'Well, Kate and Humphrey weren't found in time, and it was bad.'

Lily whimpered silently. She didn't want her brother to be too late. She would be too late.

'All the packs were fighting to the end.'

Lily was suddenly thinking about the war. She would of been forced to fight the eastern alphas, and lead the western omegas to safety at the same time. The omega wolves were never trained to fight, and would of been killed.

'I was sighted by an eastern alpha. It jumped at me, and I was about to get killed. My sister jumped to it, and began to attack it.'

Lily could see herself as an omega, with her alpha brother defending her.

'She was bitten on the neck hard, and she was quickly losing blood.'

Lily felt the sharp, teethed pain on her neck. It made her whimper in her throat.

'She bit the wolf back, for longer. It died quickly, but my sister had lost too much blood.'

They both felt cold, sharp, painful shivers shake their spines. Garth started to whimper again, and dig his head into his front legs.

Lily felt a strange feeling, the feeling of both pity, and guilt. Never in her life, had she felt sorry for an omega. She saw almost every one of them as a true low ranker. But Garth, he was different, and she didn't know why. She rubbed his face with her own, and he stopped whimpering.

'It's okay Garth. Your sister is fine, and I just know my brother will make it in time. He is the greatest alpha ever…' She paused for a second. 'Even better than me.'

She wondered how she could say it, but it was all true. Her brother was a better alpha than her. She didn't know if her brother could make it. She realised her mistake, again and again.

'But what if Humphrey doesn't make it?! Most of our pack are omegas! And there would be no replacement!'

Lily thought she would growl at his last statement, but then she knew he was right.

'Garth, look, I'm sure you can help this, in some way…'

'But I'm just an omega! A worthless, unneeded omega! A wolf alphas don't care about!'

His outburst made her cringe, but he was right, right about her. She knew that omegas were there for a good reason, but rarely cared for them. The alphas in his pack were likely no different, if not worse. She was about to find out.

'My parents never cared for me! They treated me like mud! They only cared for Lucy! So I started acting loyal to her, but they still don't care, and never will!'

He suddenly hid his face under his front paws and tail, reminding himself of his family.

'No. They wouldn't. Your parents really love…'

'No they don't! They never did, and probably never will! It was all about Lucy. Always about Lucy! Never about me! I'm just an omega!'

His yells became loud enough to wake Tom and Lucy. Tom paid little attention to anyone, just thinking about the probabilities of his sister making it.

Lucy, though, was shocked that her brother could say such things. She had no idea that her parents, that loved her, could of never loved Garth. She was walking up to him, and he was surprised to see her awake.

'Brother, is all that, true?'

He breathed in and out, calming himself down. He talked directly to her.

'Well, a little. Our parents mostly cared for you, but they sorta cared for me. I'm really okay. I'm just too tired.'

Lucy just nodded, and got back to sleep in the same place. Garth looked at Lily, with a face that told her what he wanted.

'Yes Garth, you can sleep next to me tonight.'

He was happy, and his tail perked up.

'But Garth, are you sure you're just tired?'

He just nodded. Lily lay down, and Garth curled up next to her. He quickly fell asleep, sleeping calmly.

Lily never felt so happy to feel a young omega curled up against her. He seemed happy, with a different feeling of comfort than from his sister.

Lucy was just drifting to sleep, and was whispering to Lily.

'He's just mad because of what happened to our mother.'

Lily had her tail across his body, and she lowered her head next to his before falling asleep to the calm sound of rain.

Kate managed to get free from the monster that was chasing her. She ran in the first direction she was facing. She was slowly realising the monster's claw was venomous.

Lily was first to wake up to the bright day. The others were still asleep, even Garth who was curled up at her body the rest of the night. He was happy.

Lily stepped out of her shelter, and into the sun. It was almost as warm was Garth. The ground was moist underneath her paws. The air was fresh as she breathed in.

Lucy woke up quickly to see Lily awake. She slowly creeped through the sleeping omegas, stopping to look at her relaxed brother. She stood right next to Lily, who noticed her.

'Hey Lucy. When we were going to sleep, you told me that Garth was acting strange because of what happened to your mother. What does that mean?'

Lucy looked shocked, but she relaxed and told her story.

'Well, we were very young. I hadn't gone to alpha school yet. Our parents were hunting in the valley, but things got bad. There was a stampede. Everyone escaped the caribou, except our mother.'

Lily didn't know what to say. Her eyes were wide at the thought of anyone being caught in a caribou stampede. Knowing that your mother would be the only victim to something so deadly would be crushing. Lucy snapped her out of her thoughts.

'But thankfully our father Axan managed to get to the safe areas. Of course, this was before all our caribou were either hunted down or fled to your side of Jasper.'

Lily had suddenly remembered the reason to why the war was starting, and why Lucy and Humphrey needed to marry.

'Oh yeah, because that's the reason why this war is starting and everything. It's so stupid and small you kind of forget about it after a while. It's all about the caribou.'

Lucy was about to respond when the two omega boys woke up. Tom was walking out slowly, but Garth was sprinting out, despite having just woken up. Lucy was ready to be pounced on, but was shocked to see him instead pinning Lily down.

'Lily!' He yelled happily.

Lily was laughing loudly while Lucy stared at them, not wondering how to feel. She was shocked at first to see her brother pouncing on someone other her but soon was happy that Garth had developed another friend so quickly.

'Garth!' Lily called back.

Garth soon got off her, and she stood up. He had clearly recovered from his moment the night before. His eyes were the bright shade of green of happiness they usually were.

Tom was busy thinking about likely it was for his sister and Humphrey to make it back before the war. The hardest part was guessing where their were. The war was going to start that night.

Lily had an idea. They had an entire day until the war started. She thought that they should explore the other parts of the western territory, as they only covered the valley the day before. There was still plenty to show.

'Hey guys, I've got an idea.'

They all looked at her, Garth being the most eager, who was panting in excitement.

'We've still got tons of places left in Jasper Park to explore. I mean, we really should of explored Log Mountain, and we can do that today.'

Lucy cringed when Lily said 'should of' without realising her mistake.

'So let's go!' Garth howled.

Lily sprinted at a speed that Garth and Tom could keep up to. Lucy had to mutter something before catching up.

'Should of, could of and would of aren't real. It's should have, could have, and would have.'

The poison was sinking into Kate's body. She was getting weaker and weaker. The human-wolf creature was still chasing her, and she still had to run.

The entire walk to the top of the mountain was surprisingly quiet and calm. Except for Garth and Lucy racing, which ended in a tie, the action was lacking. Tom and Lily knew this was going to change.

The mountain was the smallest mountain in the western territory, but it was still like a very steep hill. It had grass and trees on its hightest point.

Tom had gone into the mountain's forest. Garth was watching the wonderful view of the valley while Lily and Lucy were talking to each other.

'How's it like to have a brother that's a lower rank than you? It's not exactly fun being below your brother.' Lily asked.

'It's fine. It can be annoying to get all the attention while your brother gets none of it, but it's otherwise great.'

Lily was about to reply when Tom placed a hollow log on the edge of the cliff, before it came steep, right next to Garth. Garth hopped into the front, and Tom sat behind while Lily sat behind him. Lucy just looked in confusion.

'Get on!' Tom cried.

Lucy reluctantly sat at the back. She was nervous about what was to come.

'There's a reason this place is called Log Mountain, even though I see it as a steep, tall hill. This is where my sister took me and her friends log sledding once. We ended up having to stay in our dens for days, but I'm more prepared now!' Tom explained.

Tom started to push it slowly, when Lily spoke.

'I've never done this before, but I know it'll be fun and dangerous!'

'Dangerous?!' Lucy yelled.

'Yeah, it's great!'

Though it seemed like Lily didn't listen, Lucy knew she meant that the game being dangerous was great.

'Come on guys! Push it!' Tom ordered as he tried to push the log without enough strength.

Garth and Lily eagerly pushed the log forward with their front paw, while Lucy did it slowly. Lucy's end of the log jerked upwards, and Garth's end went down. Before Lucy knew it, the log was racing down the mountain at speeds she couldn't run at.

This was great to Garth. He was enjoying the ride he was in. His parents would have never let him do this.

'Lean right!' Tom yelled.

Everyone leaned to the right, and the log turned right. Lucy quickly got back into her position, and the others did

the same. The log slid back into racing forward as it passed a tree.

'Lean left!'

Lucy refused to lean over, but it didn't make a difference. The log turned left anyway. She held on tighter.

'Cliff ahead!'

Lucy's heart raced. They were about to go over a cliff, and Tom did nothing about it.

The ground Lucy could feel underneath her paws was gone. She looked around to see that the log was in the air. It just got worse. It spun around. She tightened her grip.

The others were having fun, especially Garth. He was finally able to so something he wasn't allowed to do. He finally had freedom.

The log landed, and Lucy could feel her body bouncing up and landing on the log a few times.

'This is great! I'd never get to do this at home!' Garth cried happily.

Tom ruined the mood.

'There's just one problem: we have no brakes.'

Just as he said that, Lucy could see a long, wide line of rocks just ahead. There was no time to jump. They had to stop.

'Rocks!' She screamed.

She turned the log so it was facing sideways but still going forward. It didn't do anything. The mountain was too steep for the log to slow down even a bit.

'Let go!' Tom shouted.

Lucy thought this was the stupidest idea possible.

'Why the heck would we let go?! We'll be thrown from the log!'

'Exactly!'

Lucy let go of the log. She felt like the speed the log was going at was pressing against her.

Garth was terrified, but still he let go. The rocks were hard and sharp and could seriously hurt him if he wasn't tossed somewhere else.

After what seemed like terrifying minutes of what were just seconds, the sideways log hit the rocks with incredible force. Everyone was thrown from the log in different directions, all flying just a few metres above the smooth, tree-filled terrain. They were falling apart.

Lily was not prepared to land. Her paws were pointing to the sky, and her back was facing the ground. She felt the earth and grass on her back as she landed. She kept moving down, until she stopped and was on her side. She stood up and looked around.

Tom had balanced himself perfectly to land. He used his knowledge of gravity to land on his paws flawlessly. He ran after he landed to balance out his momentum so he wouldn't fall over.

Lucy was flipping forward without trying. She had no control, and couldn't see anything. All she could see was the sky then the ground over and over again. She saw a tree, and her back hit it. She fell and landed on her paws.

Garth had his front legs pointed to the ground, but his back legs with everything next to them were pointing the sky. He reached out front leg, but at soon as it touched the ground, he felt a sharp pain. He yelped in pain, and tumbled forward.

Lily saw the whole thing. He rolled far beyond the place that he landed in. He was holding his paw in the air like it was hurting.

'Garth!'

Lucy heard Lily yell her brother's name. Her heart was beating at a fast, panicky rhythm. She followed the sound with her sharpened senses.

Tom heard it too, but he couldn't find it; omegas weren't trained to track sound. However, he did see Lucy running in a direction with great speed, and he figured she knew where Garth was.

Lily was looking at Garth's paw up close. There was no exterior damage, but she knew that the interior damage was worse.

'Put weight on it.'

Garth stood up and put his hurt paw down. As soon as he put weight on it, he whimpered in pain and lifted his paw.

'Okay Garth, I've been trained as a healer in alpha school, and I know this: your leg is broken.'

'Broken?!' Lily turned around to see Lucy, Tom running after her, staring with a face that was both shocked and angry. Her mouth was wide open but her eyes beamed with anger.

Lily panicked. She jumped back but misplaced her paw. Then, she felt her side slam against the ground.

Lucy rolled her over into her back, and pressed her paws hard on Lily's neck. At first, she could easily breath, but it soon became nearly impossible.

Garth stared; his own sister, trying to kill his friend. He didn't know what to do, but his instinct kicked in.

He opened his mouth and made his teeth easily to see. He ran at his sister, and dug his teeth into her back leg as far as he could, but only for a second.

Lucy yelped in pain, and he backed away, shocked at what he did. She jumped back, whimpering to hold back the pain.

Garth ran over to Lily and looked at her face. It looked as though she was dead and breathing at the same time.

'Garth...' Even her voice sounded dead.

He didn't know what to do, so he gently licked her face. Tom was filled with rage.

'ARE YOU AWARE OF THE FACT THAT YOU JUST NEARLY KILLED THE SISTER OF KLAWS'S SON?!' He screamed.

Lucy could only nod.

Lily had regained her breath, and could now stand up with ease. She looked at Garth's hurt paw, and pulled out some tall grass nearby.

She made a long, thick, strong rope from the blades she picked. She put one part over his neck, and placed his paw on another part. She tied it up.

'There. All better. Just make sure it doesn't move too much, and the bone should heal in a few nights. But remember, sometimes a full recover isn't possible, but that's only a problem if you're an alpha.'

He looked much happier. His tail was in the air, wagging.

She turned to Tom and Lucy, who had both calmed down.

'How about tonight, we go to the howling rock and howl together?' She suggested.

They both looked shocked.

'Are you insane?! That's against pack law!' Lucy yelled.

'Yeah, I know. But this is just for fun. Not as a whole, you know, soul mate thing.'

Tom and Lucy looked at each other, then back at Lily. They both nodded in agreement.

Lily smiled. Even though her previous plan was failing, at least this plan worked.
