Guys? I've decided to restart this fic. I've had a lot of fun with this, but I realized that I've messed up a lot. I've already started on the first chapter of the new fic.
First off, when determining Latvia's skillset, I only had a vague idea that he was ice-elemental (it's a little more complicated than that, but I haven't gotten to why yet). I gave him the ice sword, which turned into nothing when I decided to give him another skill that works better but I never implemented.
Next, giving Sealand Metalbending does make sense, since he's made of metal. Since earth is made of metal, having him being able to Earthbend a little also makes sense. But I think having him being able to bend pretty much any solid material pushes it a little. And giving him lots of guns for no reason is unreasonable, and he never uses them anyways.
Lithuania became a classic Mary Sue. He joins to 'redeem' Zuko, and says it outright. He becomes loved by the crew (although it does make sense for them to like him, since he's nice anyways), and is automatically trusted. He's inexplicably loyal to Zuko, doesn't even have a rank, and willingly allies himself with an invading nation for him. Then he dies heroically, but doesn't really die. Then he meets Jeong Jeong and would be trained by him if I continued (I didn't really figure out how he persuaded him to teach at that point.)
England's air pressure bending annoys me a bit, because Airbending does manipulate air pressure anyways. It'll be just plain Airbending this time. Also, him joining the pirates doesn't make any sense, either. He looks on his past sort-of fondly, but the pirates show him no respect at all. He doesn't like them, they don't like him. He ditches them the moment he finds Sealand.
I don't have any problems with Estonia. Prussia and Canada haven't been there long enough to matter.
The reason for why the characters were transported to the Avatar universe makes no sense at all. Prussia shows no religious inclination in the present day, and having him automatically declare something is evil because it's magical… doesn't seem completely out of character as much as completely out of nowhere. And how would England have time to throw something to Latvia when he could be figuring out how to disable the thing?
Plus, having multiple chapters to resolve one episode, and one being a complete cop-out (I think I used the wrong Japanese writing system for the Great Divide) annoys me as well.
And every Avatar character is OOC.
