Liz fixed her dress again and checked her hair in the mirror, she was beyond nervous about this entire thing, not to mention how uncomfortable she was with the fancy lady-like look.

Bill chuckled as he came into the room and saw her fighting with the urge to have a drink. "It's going to be ok, I promise you that everything will work out just fine." he assured her.

Liz apprehensively looked at him with her bright blue eyes. "How can you be so calm about this? We are going to have 6 Originals inside of our home in just a few minutes."

"And we will make them feel welcome and happy for accepting our humble house as their residence while they are in town."

Liz clasped her hands. "I don't know why I'm so nervous about this, it's not the first time that we've had guests..."

Bill smiled and came closer to his long time wife and placed his hands on her arms soothing her. "I know that they are vampires and that Esther is a powerful witch but they are known to actually be very friendly, unless you try to kill one of them."

Liz rested her shaking hands on her husband's chest. "We have four daughters, I'm just worried about them."

"I know Liz but the Mikaelsons are a very ancient and powerful family and I couldn't really refuse Esther's request, besides it's tradition for the Mayor to harbour them whenever they are in town, which only happens once every century and they have never done anything unfriendly during their past visits. I'm sure that they won't start now."

Liz nodded, it was tradition after all, one that she was familiar with since she was as a little girl, her ancestors were part of the founders of this city and they always had their house open for the Mikaelsons, the first vampires to ever exist on this earth and who lived mostly apart from each other, only getting together as a true family for an entire year every century.

They had a home in London where they stayed together for most of that family year, only summer was spent in Mystic Falls which was their birth place and that summer was always spent in the house of whoever was Mayor that century, it had been a way that the first Mayor had found to please them, like a gift to sooth the Gods and it had remained a tradition until this very day, a spoken silent promise that the town meant no harm to them and in exchange the Originals cordially held their word that they would not harm anyone while they stayed for the summer.

There hadn't been any incidents thus far but this year Liz was particularly nervous, mostly because she had the biggest troublemakers in the Forbes genealogy as her daughters, the four of them were a hand full, being two of them as well the first vampires ever in the family.

A knock on the front door made her take a deep long breath and deviate from her inner monologue, she headed for the door accompanied by Bill and opened it with a smile.

On the other side of the threshold there was a blond tall woman sided by her two sons, Elijah and Finn.

"Esther." Bill greeted her with a small bow, there was a pleasant amiability between them, aside from preparing her stay Bill occasionally did a few errands for the matriarch and they often exchanged polite phone calls.

He also had met personally with the man on her right side, the only one who lived with Esther in London for the majority of the centuries, and it was with Finn that Bill shook hands first.

Liz wasn't as comfortable with the trio but she tried to steady her breathing before speaking. "Welcome to Mystic Falls." she said and stepped aside so that they could all come inside of the house where they had already been invited to.

It was just a formality but they seemed to like it, especially the rather handsome man who walked in after Finn. "Thank you Mrs Forbes for sheltering our family during the next few months." He took her hand and softly planted a kiss near her wrist.

Liz giggled with the old-fashioned manners of the man, for what she heard he had to be the oldest son, Elijah. "You have to teach my husband how to do that."

"What are you talking about? I have manners." Bill grumbled on his way to shake hands with the man. "Welcome to my house Elijah." He drifted his eyes to the arriving car.

As soon as the shiny black car stopped a beautiful, yet very annoyed, blond girl stepped outside, immediately followed by two young men in appearance.

Rebekah was the youngest of the Mikaelson family, she was just as beautiful as she was deadly, she was also inseparable from her two older brothers Klaus and Kol, they lived together and were known to have an explosive relationship, they were tight as a loving unit but their fights were equally legendary.

The first to follow Rebekah was Kol, the rebel in the family and prone to get into trouble because of his taste in women and chaos.

The last to make way to the front door was Klaus, and that one needed no introduction.

If Bill had to really fear someone it was Klaus, he was the family's most ruthless and mean member, easily capable of flirting with a pair of innocent dimples as he was to kill anyone who looked at him in a way that he didn't enjoy.

Liz was already a jittery mess as it was so it didn't really help that Bill suddenly was so tense.

On to the couple Esther smiled and moved her hand to the arriving group. "This is my daughter Rebekah and these are my two sons, Kol and Niklaus."

"Klaus." he corrected annoyed while checking his cellphone for messages.

"Please do come in." Liz stayed by the door as they started to fill her lobby and she closed the door looking at the six deadly and powerful vampires inside of her home, there was no turning back now. "Did you have a good journey on your way here?" she asked them pointing at the living room where they would be more comfortable.

"Yes, it was very pleasant." Esther said warmly and reached out to take Liz' shoulders, it would be an awkward stay if the woman kept looking at them like they were a hurricane about to happen. "It's always good to see Mystic Falls, it hasn't changed much over the years and that's always good."

"I always thought that that was bad." Esther squinted a bit more at ease now that she felt a soothing vibe coming from the other woman.

"Small towns have their precious little charm." Esther lowered her voice.

"I dare you to stick around for an entire year, then we'll see how charming you find it." Liz cocked an eyebrow.

It brought a small chuckle forward from Esther and a nice little connection was settled for now.

They all gathered in the huge room noticing the changes since they were last here, the Forbes had done a vast collection of improvements in the mansion and it was obvious that good taste was abundant around here.

"Can I get you anything? Coffee, water?" Liz paused. "Blood?"

Everyone smiled with the awkwardness in her voice.

Esther warmly padded her shoulder. "Liz, you don't have to worry about anything, we are here as a family, an ordinary family and none of us will harm you or a single person in this town. You can trust that and there is no reason to worry about our unique diet, we will eat and drink like normal humans while we are taking advantage of your gracious hospitality."

"It's perfectly ok, I have two teenage vampires in the house." Liz said with easiness for the first time since the Mikaelsons arrived.

Esther showed interest at once. "So I've heard from Bill, are we meeting them soon? I've only seen pictures of when they were babies and I'm most curious to see how they have grown to be part of our species."

Liz shook her head. "It's Saturday, they are still asleep."

"Or not…" Kol said with a smile while he glanced over to Rebekah.

They could hear the girls talking as they approached the front door.

"Come on Kat… you can't tell mom and dad." Elena said with a groggy voice.

Katherine opened the door upset. "Why did you have to start drinking? You can't handle any kind of drinking Elena and you know that."

"I so can." Elena said but rubbed her nose with a sleepy motion.

"You had two shots Elena." Katherine judged her weak resistance to alcohol.

Elena shoved her tongue out of her mouth. "I still can't feel my tongue."

Katherine rolled her eyes. "It was the last time that we took her with us." She addressed the other sister who was holding Elena's arm and balance.

Elena tilted her head to look up at the blonde. "I had fun."

Lexi ignored the chattering from the twins and kept on scrolling down the messages on her phone.

"What is this?" Liz confronted the girls flabbergasted, by the looks of it they had been out partying all night.

"Oops..." Katherine said stopping as soon as her eyes landed on her mother.

Elena bumped into her with a giggle. "Why are we stopping?"

Her twin sister looked at her and moved her eyebrows.

Elena slowly gazed over and smiled at her mother who seemed furious. "Morning…" she said trying to sound less drunk than she actually was.

"Who's going to explain this?" Liz came closer to her daughters.

Lexi was the first to react. "We kind of went to a party last night and it lasted a little bit more than it usually does." She released her hold on her sister and Elena lasted a second before tumbling to the side.

She giggled loudly as Katherine caught her.

"I'm going to take this one upstairs and give her a cold shower and then I'll put her in bed." Katherine said and dragged Elena all the way to the staircase.

She leaned back to have a better look at the attractive men in the room. "They are all so pretty..." Elena whispered before another giggle.

"Shut up Elena." Katherine murmured mad and moved up the stairs.

"They don't look like they have 1000 years… do you think that they still like sex after all this time?" she asked with a hiccup.

"Oh my God Elena, do you realize that they can hear you?" Katherine whispered.

Elena just laughed and slumped against the staircase once they reached the top. "Just use your vampire strength and carry me to my room."

"Or I just let you go and you fall down the stairs." Katherine smirked. "It would be the end of all my problems."

"The good-looking old vampires are all listening so you would have a lot of witnesses." Elena had another hiccup.

"Fine." Katherine pulled Elena's hand to make her walk.

"The ones in the leather jacket are really hot, they remind me of Damon." Elena sighed.

Downstairs Klaus and Kol looked at each other and started laughing.

Esther gave them a serious look at once but without much effect.

Liz raised her hands in a giving up manner. "I will deal with you girls later."

"Cool." Lexi said while checking on her new messages.

Liz turned around with a shake of her head. "I'm leaving this to you." She scolded her surprisingly silent husband.

His action only came after a frown. "Where is your sister?" he inquired Lexi.

"Which one?" Lexi asked him in return.

"Caroline." he answered upset that she was stalling.

"How should I know? She wasn't at the party." Lexi simply left to her room, vampire or not she wasn't in the mood to have another fight with her father.

Liz took Bill's arm to appease him. "Maybe she's upstairs."

Bill was going to ask her to check on it but someone just came in from the kitchen door and headed this way with an ongoing conversation on the phone.

"… relax Tyler, I checked before I left and you didn't get out. There were no weird sightings of werewolves last night in Mystic Falls and no deaths whatsoever. We have this under control…" Caroline froze on her carefree way to the staircase and slowly turned to the unexpected audience. "I'll call you right back Tyler." She gulped down and clutched the leather bag in her hand. "Mom… dad… bunch of strangers in my home… hey." she said with her best smile.

"You were with Tyler again?" Liz asked her aghast.

"Technically… I was outside while he was inside of a solid cellar… as a wolf." she kept her sweet smile.

"Will you excuse us for a minute?" Bill politely addressed the amused clan behind him.

"A word Caroline?" her mother demanded on her way to the kitchen.

Bill looked at her sternly and immediately Caroline slumped her shoulders with a loud sigh, she dropped her bag with clothes and food and followed her parents to the kitchen.

"What were you thinking?" Liz snapped first.

Bill followed with a lot of yelling and demanding explanations that Caroline wasn't allowed to give because neither of them would let her talk.

Katherine came back downstairs with Lexi. "Uh, someone is in trouble..." Katherine told Lexi as they skimmed their way down the staircase to return to the main floor.

"Try not to gloat so much." Lexi asked with a serious look.

Katherine scoffed at once. "Please… perfect Caroline was just caught while sneaking back to the house after helping the werewolf guy that our parents forbid her to socialize with. It's almost too good to be true." Katherine chuckled as she walked in that sexy way of hers inside of the room where the Original family was settling in.

She glanced over to the dashing brothers and lingered a little more on the tall dapper one in a suit, she raised an eyebrow at him, that one she needed to get acquainted with.

Lexi smiled at Esther. "Hi, I'm Lexi."

"It's nice to meet you Lexi." The woman smiled at the tall blond girl with really long hair that reached bellow her waist, it was such a contrast to the twins' deep dark hair and she enjoyed the diversity very much, being her family a perfect example of that as well.

Liz joined them with a deep sigh. "I'm sorry for my daughters..." she gave Lexi and Katherine a look. "It's been a rather busy morning but usually it isn't like this." she explained the other parent.

Esther simply smiled. "It must be hard handling four beautiful young and independent girls."

Lexi laughed. "I don't think that we are that bad."

"The two of you are the vampires?" Kol asked them bluntly as he approached Lexi and Katherine.

Katherine gave him a know-it-all look. "Yeah, we are. How about you, are you the really old Original who hits on everything that remotely resembles a woman?"

Kol laughed loudly. "Not everything that you hear about me is the truth."

"Yes it is." Rebekah stepped in with a cutting smile. "I'm Rebekah." she introduced herself to the other girls.

Lexi glanced over at Klaus who appeared a little lost in his attentive admiration of the various art paintings scattered around the room.

"Ignore him… he's being all artist." Rebekah said with a regal roll of her eyes.

Klaus smiled while listening to his sister's comment but exited the room, once in the hallway he walked further into the house marvelled upon their taste in art, some of these paintings were quite exquisite and rare in beauty.

Someone huffing made him move his eyes and look after the set of heels stomping upset against the floor, he was just around the corner so she couldn't really see him, the blond beauty picked up the bag from the floor and shook her head, obviously her parents had given her a hard time over her adventurous evening.

Klaus was intrigued, he heard something from his mother about the Forbes' girls being a group of rogues and firecrackers who often plunged themselves into trouble but he struggled with the notion of anyone finding trouble in such a minuscule town like Mystic Falls.

Caroline walked in his direction but she was a little lost in thought and only saw him when he appeared out of nowhere in front of her. "Jesus Christ!" she yelped with a small startle and placed her hand over her racing heart. "You scared me."

"My apologies." Klaus said calmly and with a smile.

Caroline still breathed hard. "Don't do that… I have a bad heart." she mumbled.

Klaus chuckled. "I was here minding my own business, you were the one who was distracted sweetheart."

Caroline fixated her eyes on him, she didn't have a chance before to actually look at any of them properly and it was mean that he was the first one she got to closely examine because he owned the most amazing deep-blue eyes, she found herself smiling with the intensity that she found in them and then there was the fact that he also had inviting lips and a perfectly cared stubble. "Guess that I have to get used to that, to have other people in the house besides the family." She lowered her eyes to the floor.

"It's only for a short while." he said smiling but allowing himself to wander his gaze over the girl's face, she was truly beautiful, in the most pure sense of the world.

It was a sight to meet someone with such flawless golden locks and sparkling big eyes, her eyelashes were long and black like adamant shields for those cutting blue eyes and when his eyes landed on her red full lips he had to smile, he had seen his share of beautiful women but this girl owed them nothing at all.

When she looked up he kept his eyes on her, visibly interested in what he was seeing and they smiled at each other before breaking the intensity between them, they looked away from one another and she shook her head, it was so weird that she was sharing a moment with a total stranger.

"I'm Caroline, I don't know if you knew that." she smiled again when he looked back at her.

"Nik." he said quickly and unexpectedly realized that it wasn't the name he was meant to give her. "Klaus!" he corrected himself as quickly.

She pulled her eyebrows together confused.

"Niklaus is… my name." he stumbled awkwardly on his words.

Caroline gave him a heart-stopping smile. "Well… Nik, Klaus, Niklaus I'll see you around." she went around him.

Klaus turned hastily. "Are you the human one?"

Caroline faced him. "Straight to the point, huh? Well yes, Elena and I are the normal ones. Katherine and Lexi are the real interesting jewels in the family."

Klaus had a confusing look. "That's not the reason I asked you."

Caroline crossed her arms still holding the bag in her hand and she looked at him with an adorable defiance in her eyes. "Why did you ask then?"

"You can't blame a fella for trying to get to know better a beautiful girl."

"You are an 1000 year old vampire and I'm an 18 year old human. It's not going to happen Klaus." she said with a big smile.

"I've seen greater impossible odds crumble." he teased her adding one of his smiles.

Caroline laughed. "Sorry to burst your bubble but I'm not your type Klaus."

He started to show her amazing dimples, she was putting a distance between them right off the bat. "And how would you know my type sweetheart?"

"I have a brain and I don't fall for the first guy who uses his charm on me."

"So you reckon that I'm charming?"

Caroline laughed louder and turned around towards her bedroom.

Klaus was smiling as well and shaking his head, well that was rather unexpected but entertaining.

"Have you already settled in?" Rebekah asked Finn.

He was rushing to the front door taking advantage that his mother was busy discussing flowers or whatnot, Elijah had already left with the Mayor and he was just sneaking out himself when Rebekah called him. "I have, I adore my bedroom and I'm going out now to admire the garden." Finn quickly dismissed her.

Rebekah smiled taunting him and pushed her heel to the ground. "Are you going to sneak out to meet a certain red-haired who has been in town for a week already?"

Finn shortened the space between them. "Mother doesn't need to know what will only upset her."

"How long do you think that you can keep this from her?" she asked amused.

"For as long as I can, before you run off to tell her that Sage is in town." he waited for her reaction.

She lifted her hands in the air. "It's all fine by me… needless to say that your secret is safe with me." she said pretending innocence in her ways.

Her older brother gave her a warning look before leaving.

She laughed knowing that Kol had listened to everything.

"How much should we bet that mother kills Sage in less than a week?" he stopped next to her.

Rebekah tilted her head while playing with her braid. "She's managed to survive for 900 years, I bet that she makes it for another week."

"It's on dear sister." Kol playfully said.

She easily launched him a wicked smile. "I saw a promising little pub on our way here."

"I have a few errands on my own." He left the house with his phone in his hand.

Resentfully she lost the smile once she was alone.

Caroline came inside of The Grill looking for Tyler and she smiled when she saw him at one of the tables. "Hey."

"Hey Care… did you get into trouble?" he asked her worried.

"No…" she answered with a smile.

Tyler gave her a look. "I know you better than anyone… you were caught weren't you?"

"It's been a weird morning so far." she rested her forearms on the table. "But my father wasn't too harsh about the entire thing, we had guests in the house so he was trying to keep a face… but enough about me, how are you?"

"You know, the usual… for someone who just broke every bone in his body but I survived another full moon so yay for me." With doom he looked down on his coffee.

Caroline took his hand gently. "You are not alone Tyler and we'll get you through this, together."

He smiled. "Thanks Care, that means a lot…"

She flashed that perfect smile of hers. "Nonsense, you are my best friend Tyler."

His smile faded a little, yeah, if only his feelings were that toned down.

A loud laughter nearby caught Caroline's attention and she moved her head surprised that it came from the two men at the bar. "I'll be right back." she numbly told Tyler leaving him at the table alone, she walked with suspicion as she saw Damon laughing with Klaus. "Don't tell me that the pair of you are actual friends?" she asked as she grew closer to them.

"Caroline!" Damon looked at Klaus. "Have you met the second most beautiful girl in the Forbes family?"

Klaus smiled. "Yes, apparently she's not my type."

Damon laughed. "Caroline isn't anyone's type, she's too good for any of us." Damon teased her.

Se rolled her eyes at Damon. "Well I wish that my sister was a bit more like me."

"Ah, the sweet Elena..." Damon's voice dropped.

Caroline punched his arm. "Stop drinking and wasting time with this one and go see her, she's miserable and she got wasted last night."

Damon was serious when he spoke. "She hates me…"

"Moron, she doesn't hate you, she was jealous and your flirting with Katherine didn't help." she snapped.

"I was joking…" Damon said while opening his arms.

Caroline half-closed her eyes. "Just go talk to her."

On that cue Damon stood from his stool and greeted Klaus with a head nod, then he left The Grill in a hurry.

"Impressive, I've known Damon for many years now and I have never seen him do what a woman told him to do." Klaus kept his eyes on Caroline before having a sip from his bourbon.

She crossed her arms. "He loves my sister Elena and she loves him back, God only knows why."

He motioned his glass. "Can I offer you a drink?"

"No thanks."

"It's just a drink Caroline, I'm not proposing here." he pursed his lips smiling.

She shook her head trying not to smile. "I'm not allowed to drink."

Klaus widened his eyes. "That's something that I was not expecting to hear from someone who spends her nights helping werewolves during the full moon." He chuckled. "But I'm certain that they have water."

Caroline seemed to think about it for a while before she took a deep breath and sat next to him, they easily started talking and when the conversation drifted to his journeys he spent the next hour speaking about all the wonderful cities where he had been to, and she had a million questions that he didn't seem too bothered to answer.

She was so enraptured by it that she didn't even notice when Tyler left upset.

Damon quietly closed the window of her bedroom and came closer to the bed, he smiled while moving her long straight hair away from her face, his fingers gently trailed her mesmerizing features.

Elena slowly opened her eyes, she smiled when she saw him there and reached her hand to catch his.

"Hello warrior princess." he gently said.

Elena huffed half-asleep still, she always found him silly for calling her this. "I'm still upset with you."

"I know." he sat down on her bed. "You got really upset at the party and you were mean to me, that's why I left."

"I don't like it when you and Kat get all flirty." she explained herself while Damon looked at her with all that love that she found sometimes too consuming and even hard to handle.

"You know how I am, I love a good flirt."

She looked down from his face, still so unsure if he was just fooling around or if there was a hint of truth about all that he told her when they were alone.

Damon cupped her chin and ran his thumb over it gently. "Stop it silly…" he pleaded her.

"It's all so Black Swan sometimes, she's the black swan seducing my boyfriend and sometimes I'm just afraid that she will win."

"That's it, no more Nassim Taleb for you." Damon said serious.

She chuckled softly and stroked his hand. "She's everything I'm not… she's sexy, smouldering and a vampire." she said slowly looking up to meet his baby-blue eyes.

Damon entwined his fingers with hers. "Exactly, she's everything that I don't want. I love you."

Elena smiled and moved her free hand, she traced his firm chest over his blue shirt and reached for his neck, gently she pulled him down to her and Damon offered no resistance whatsoever upon meeting her demanding sweet lips, she smiled into their kiss and stroked the back of his neck in love.

Damon hovered over her. "Is this a good idea? Won't Mayor William Forbes barge inside soon with a riffle and shoot my very dead cold heart?"

"Well Mr Salvatore, it's up to you to choose if it's worth it." she whispered slowly getting her fingers lost in his wonderful black hair.

Damon's smile was naughty. "Well that's one silly question Elena."

She pulled him into a deep kiss, she loved the way that he said her name and she loved the way that Damon kissed her so it was natural that she pouted when he stopped the kiss.

"What's this I hear about you wondering about sex and vampires?" he asked her with a hint of a smile but trying to come off serious.

Elena laughed. "I was drunk." she shut her eyes closed.

"No, I'm curious now, are your doubts about all vampires in general or just really old ones like Klaus?" Damon teased her with his words but his fingers were touching her bare shoulders.

She looked into his sinful eyes as she felt his hand come slowly down her skin. "Damon..."

"Elena..." he said playfully.

"I love you." she whispered.

Damon's smile was enough to break any cold heart, nothing made him as happy as when she said this to him, he bent down and kissed her deeply and longing.

Caroline laughed as they left The Grill. "You will not take me to Tokyo mister, I just met you five hours ago."

Klaus fixed his jacket and laughed. "It has taken me much less than that to conquer powerful women."

"Oh, so now I'm powerful!" she teased him while taking a step forward without looking.

A car was speeding down the road and Klaus pulled her back to him just in time, the man inside of the car ranted upon realizing that he almost ran over her.

"Careful there love." Klaus chuckled at her clumsy ways.

Caroline gulped down noticing that she was in his strong hold and slowly she looked up. "Thanks…" She was immediately caught up in his stare and felt her mouth dry, she was inches away from his lips and tried to avoid looking at them.

That same perfection twisted into a smile. "Is everything all right Caroline?" he asked in that deep accented voice of his.

"Sure..." she whispered and tried to move away from his gripping embrace.

But Klaus knew what he was doing and he held her even closer to him.

Caroline felt his smell around her, his hot breath upon her face and then she cursed herself. "Crap…" she mumbled and clutched her chest.

Klaus lost the smug attire. "Caroline?"

She was breathing in a harsh way and her hand went around his arm so that she could support herself.

Klaus was seriously concerned now, she seemed to stagger and he held her close just that not in a sexy way this time, instead he was protective of her which was a very odd thing for him to do.

She looked up and smiled weakly at him. "I wasn't joking when I said that I had a bad heart…"

Klaus tilted his head coming to terms with her words.

"My heart doesn't beat the right way and I can't get too… excited." she blushed realizing why she was having a crisis now.

Klaus softly chuckled. "Well that's a first, I had a lot of different effects on women sweetheart but I never made a woman's heart start failing over me."

Caroline smiled as she locked her eyes with his. "Liar... I've heard all there is to know about you."

Klaus lingered in her eyes, he felt something that he hadn't felt in a very long time, he felt trapped in them, intrigued about this beautiful girl in his arms with a weak human heart.
