Just because I found out that PSOH falls in the category of shojo. This erased the .0001 % chance that Leon and D weren't supposed to be a couple I wanted to write a little something for one of my fav pairings. Revised 11/5/13
"3 2 1" the count murmured quietly.
"D I'm here," Leon said as he walked into the shop and flopped down on the couch in a highly undignified way. As usual T-chan was there to take a bite out of him and in response he uttered a string of cuss words that would make a sailor stop and stare.
Naturally, D ignored the two of them and just went into the kitchen to make tea. Today he had brewed red Goya berry tea in the hope that the Detective would enjoy the scent and relax for once.
As D sat Leon handed him a package and he opened startled to find a rare sweet that he had never had before it looked absolutely delicious.
Looking up from the gift, he was surprised to see that the blond man's eyes were downcast and he was quietly sipping his tea. That in itself was astonishing seeing as he would usually take a tentative sip first to make sure that he hadn't put a drug in it.
"Detective is something the matter?"
"Huh," Leon responded startled out of his thoughts by the question.
"I asked if everything was alright you seem a little... distracted."
"Oh I'm fine," he said in a way that clearly told D that he was not 'fine' in the denotative meaning of the word.
Leon looked at his watch it was time for him to go back to work. "Well I gotta go. See ya later D." Leon said as he rose and headed for the door. T-chan saw this as a great opportunity to get in one more bite on his favorite chew toy an bit him on the leg. Leon fell to his knees panting as the man-eater hurriedly let go of him.
"T-chan! What did you do?" the count gasped in surprise as he ran over to the fallen Detective the totetsu had never actually hurt Leon before.
"I- I don't know I only nipped him I swear."
When D got to Leon he could hear that his breath was more labored than before and he had a suspicion that it was not the bite that had finally downed him. Slowly he made the detective rise and walked him back to the couch. Once seated the count took one well-manicured hand and felt the blond's forehead. He could instantly tell the Detective was running a very high fever.
Suddenly Leon began to shiver in harsh jerks.
"S-s-orry," the blond managed to say as the count covered him with a blanket and helped him drink a bit of herbal tea.
"For what?"
"You shouldn't have… to take care… of me. Should have… gone… home." Leon wasn't even trying to hide the fact that he was sick now he didn't have the strength to pretend anymore.
D was astonished; he knew that Leon would be all alone at home. That meant that the man would rather suffer alone than depend on another. Why did he feel that he was not allowed to ask for help when he needed it?
Ignoring that thought, for the time being, he just looked at the man that was now sleeping on the couch. He looked so much younger and so very vulnerable. For an indeterminable amount of time the count watched him rest and at some point in the night Leon became plagued by a nightmare. He began to thrash wildly and the count feared that he would hurt himself if he didn't wake up.
When the count was about to wake him he was startled by T-chan coming out of nowhere and climbing onto Leon and snuggling down. D was surprised to see that not only did Leon's struggle cease he actually grabbed the man-eater and snuggled into his fur as a child would snuggle into a teddy bear. This made the count smile and he sat back down to watch over his guest for the rest of the night.
When morning came Leon awoke to find that he was holding onto a sleeping T-chan. He would never admit it but he liked the wooly little devil. Then he looked over at the chair and spotted D asleep in the underlayer of his dress thing. He still felt horrible but it felt nice to know that there was someone who cared enough to take care of an annoying person like him.
Gently removing himself from beneath the goat sheep thing, he got up and walked over to the door. He was alright now and he didn't want to bother D anymore. He would just call in sick and go home to recuperate. Then if he felt well enough tonight he would order a special treat that would hopefully put him in a good position to ask the count something important.
He had been waiting a long time to ask the guy out and now that he had a reason to think that he might not be rejected he finally had the nerve to try.
When D woke up he was surprised to see that the detective was already gone. For a moment the Kami wondered if he should go get the man and drag him back here. After all Leon was ill and if he wasn't taken care of it was likely that he would get sicker.
The count looked over at T-chan who was still on the sofa and despite the fact that the man-eater would never admit it he knew that he was also worried about Leon because if nothing else Leon was an excellent chew toy.
The count finally decided that if the detective didn't show up by the end of the day he would simply pay a visit to the man's apartment.
The day came and went and there was no sign of the detective. After closing up the shop the count left to go to Leon's apartment. T-chan tagged along not because he was worried but because the idiot detective made the count happy and the count would be sad if Leon wasn't able to come to the shop anymore. That was the only reason that he was tagging along.
As the count and the to5tetsu made their way to over to Leon's apartment D began to get more and more worried. Something was wrong he was sure of it. The sense of wrongness only got stronger the closer he got to the detective's apartment.
A/n I will add the other part to this soon. I was just revising it just to make it better and all of a sudden it wanted to be longer.
