'Praetors work closely together. It's common for them to become romantically involved.' -Reyna, The Son of Neptune

Apologies

"Reyna?" His voice was hesitant, and with good reason. The green-eyed son of Nep- excuse her, Poseidon, was supposed to have reported exactly four hours thirty five minutes and six seconds ago. Reyna hated tardiness.

She let him squirm in the tense silence for a few more moments, privately enjoying how uncomfortable he looked. "Percy." She finally acknowledged, not looking up from the report she was currently reviewing. Or at least, trying to review. She should impose a law on having legible handwriting, she mused absentmindedly. "I see you have finally deigned to grace me with your presence."

She saw him wince out of the corner of her eye at the pure ice in her tone. "Reyna, I don't know what to say-"

"What is there to say, Percy?" Reyna cut him off, dumping the parchment on the steadily growing pile of reports that would have to be redone. She finally looked up at him, black eyes burning with icy fire, "You knew that today's report reviewing day, and yet you still went to the party at the forum last night, managed to get yourself drunk out of your mind, hungover, and had the gall to turn up here four hours thirty seven minutes and three seconds late. You might as well hand in your resignation now."

With every biting word that left her mouth, Percy's sea green eyes grew sadder and rounder, until Reyna felt like she was attacking a defenceless baby seal, the type that the daughters of Venus would squeal about when they thought no one was looking. It was not cute, Reyna told herself firmly, but even so, she felt a (very) small part of herself coo as he looked up at her with those eyes, and in a small voice that held all the sincerity and genuine regret in the world, "I really am sorry Reyna."

Reyna opened her mouth, "I-"To her horror, she felt her cheeks burn with red as Percy looked on with an (adorable) confusion in his eyes.

She stood up abruptly, ignoring how much aureus it would take to repair the scuffing her chair had left on the marble flooring.

"I will forgive you if you finish sorting the rest of the reports," She said, trying to ignore how the sudden light in his eyes made her heart flutter in her chest, "Now, if you'd be so kind as to excuse me, I have- other matters to attend to." Like making her heart calm down.

"Of course, Reyna," Percy mock-bowed, smile so bright it was practically blinding.

Reyna pressed her lips into a thin line, turning her back to him so he wouldn't see her burning face. Pausing by the door, she added, "Don't let it happen again, Percy."

A/N: I apologise for the abrupt ending, but I really wanted to get this up, and I'm in a rush to go and meet my classmates for a project. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it. Tell me what you think about my new style in a review :)
