"Sugarbomb"
The intercom crackled, and Vacy smiled as a pinched echo of her voice filled the ship. Her ship. She never got tired of being the captain.
"Corso Riggs, please report to the bridge; Corso Riggs, report to the bridge." There was another crackle and a click before the com went silent again.
Vacy heard footsteps behind her and resisted the urge to spin around so she could watch him smile when he saw her. Somehow she never got tired of seeing his eyes light up and knowing she was the reason why.
"You wanted to see me, Captain?"
Wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of your fine… Vacy blushed. "Ah, yeah, actually." She turned around, a rifle on her lap. "I was picking up a few things from the Galactic Trade Market and I saw this was for sale. I checked out the specs and didn't think you had anything along those lines, so… figured it might be useful." She picked up the blaster and held it out to him.
His face absolutely lit up. "Wow – I – this is GREAT!" He turned it over gently, beaming at the weapon. "I had a buddy back in the Brigade who used a Merr-Sonn BC7 like this one, and he always said he wouldn't use anything else cuz it was effective in just about any situation." He ran a hand along it lovingly, then looked up at Vacy with a soft smile. "And… you even got me one that has the grenade launcher. Thanks, Captain. This… I just … thanks."
Vacy chuckled. "Well, good. I figure anything you can use will end up benefiting me as well," she said with what attempted to be a casual shrug.
Corso couldn't seem to keep his eyes – or his hands – off the rifle. Vacy frowned just a little, feeling kind of silly for being jealous of a gun. Still beaming at his present, he turned and headed off the bridge, but just outside the doorway, he paused, and looked back. "Captain? I've been on the Market myself a time or two, and… you know, don't you have to tell it what you're lookin' for? I don't know as I've ever just stumbled across somethin…"
She blinked. "Well…" Wait, there had to be a way to explain that without just saying Corso, I like you a lot and I wanted to give you a present. "It was… well, there was this…" She felt her face getting warm. "Oh, blast, I bet that idiot C2 unit is … is… well it's always getting into trouble!" she blustered, standing and pushing quickly past him.
Corso watched her leave, his brows pulled together in confusion. And then he thought a little. And he smiled quietly to himself, cradling the blaster carbine close as he headed back to his quarters. "I'm gonna call you Sugarbomb," he murmured.
