Oath to Always Loath

A/N: This is for the Title Challenge by Iowi. It had to be titled "Oath to Always Loath". Enjoy :D

Lily stood up from the table as gracefully as she could with the heavy white dress trying to pull her down. Her ornate hair-do was slowly falling out, and her green eyes still sparkled with tears of joy that had smudged her make-up. She flicked her wand and gained the attention of the small group of family and friends before her. She took a deep breath, and began.

"I know James and I never agreed on giving speeches, but I remembered something last night that I had to share. Besides, James and I never agree on anything." the crowd chuckled. "The first time I met James Potter, he insulted my best friend. He continued to harass us both for nearly seven years. Actually, he still harasses me! I remember, toward the end of first year, right after I had gotten thrown in the lake, I made an oath. I swore to myself that I would always loath James Potter. I said it, Marlene and Alice witnessed it, and I upheld it for six and a half years. I made an oath to loath the man I now call my husband." Lily smiled warmly at her laughing husband. "Now, you all know how stubborn I am. I wouldn't let up on that oath until the last possible moment. So, when I learned I was in love with this big-headed arrogant toe-rag, I was shocked."

"I'll say! You spent a week in your dorm eating all my chocolate!" Remus Lupin called from her right. Lily laughed.

"Shh! That was supposed to be a secret! Anyway, last night, I realized I broke that oath in the worst possible way. I was really torn up about it until Marlene comes up to me. You know what she says? 'Damn your stubbornness, Lily! Suck it up!'" Marlene cheered. "After that lovely outburst, Alice sits by me and she says, 'An oath to always loath is a big deal, but you're making a bigger oath tomorrow. Your making an oath to always love.'" Lily glanced at Alice's smug grin and added, "I like Marlene's advice much better," there was a shout from Marlene, and a groan from Alice. "But I did make an oath to always love, James. And I promise not to break it. I swear I will love you forever." Lily smiled and kissed James lightly before sitting down.

"I promise too, Lily. I promise to always love you. I'd do anything for you Lily Potter." James whispered.

"Stop it mate!" Sirius called. "That kind of talk isn't manly!" James and Lily laughed, but they both knew that it was true. They had made the most serious oath they could. And oath bigger than the unbreakable vow, or even an oath to always loath.
