Raven woke up in a cold sweat. She had had another nightmare. She'd been having them for a few weeks, but could never remember what they were about. She would get glances of Trigon, Malcor, her friends, and Terra so she thought they were just dreams of her life. Whatever they were though she always woke up frightened. Tonight though she was more scared than any other and her room wasn't helping.
She walked down the hallway until she came to the room she wanted. Gently she knocked on the door, knowing he would hear it because of his animal hearing. Sure enough a few minutes later a sleepy Beast Boy stood in the door way only wearing a pair of pj pants.
"Raven?" She didn't say anything, just nodded her head yes.
"What are you doing here?"
"I had a nightmare." Beast Boy knew how bad his could be sometimes, knowing hers were more likely to be worse, pulled her into a gentle hug that she did not fight off.
"Can I sleep here tonight? My room didn't really help with the whole sleeping thing."
Having cleaned his room a while ago so it no longer looked like a bomb sight and she sounded like a child during a thunder storm he had no reason to say no. He just pulled her into his room and sat on the bed with her in his lap. He rocked her back and forth, humming a song he didn't know he knew. What felt like hours later but was really only 20 minutes he heard the deep breathing that meant she had fallen asleep once more. He laid down pulling her close to himself as he to fell back into dreamland.
The next morning Raven woke up with her head on a chest. It wasn't a normal chest though, this one happen to be green. As the night before came back to her she just snuggled closer to him.
"Morning"
"I thought you were asleep"
"I was but about an hour ago you moved and I could smell your hair"
"I'm sorry for waking you so early"
"Don't worry about it. How did you sleep though, any more night time frights?"
"No, actually that was the most peaceful night of sleep I've had for almost a month."
"Hmmm, maybe I should get you a teddy bear."
"It wouldn't even come close to the real thing."
"You know I'm going to get you one anyway, but you are always welcome if you get the night frights again."
"Why do you say night frights and not nightmares?"
"So people will ask me that and I grew up saying it, to me it's normal."
"Oh. Okay."
The next week when Raven walked into her room and there on her bed was a green teddy bear just the perfect size to hug. It had a note on it that said:
TOLD YOU I WOULD GET YOU ONE. HE LOVES HUGS AND LIKES TO SCARE AWAY THE NIGHT TIME FRIGHTS. SWEET DREAMS
BB
When she held it close it smelled just like him. It brought a small smile to her face. From then on if she ever had a dream that the teddy (that funny enough she named BB but she would never tell him that) couldn't make go away she went to Beast Boy's room and slept while he rocked and sang to her.
