The Slime Monster
Eliot woke with a start when Parker stepped into his bedroom. "Parker! What the Hell are you doing here?"
"I need help…" she replied fearfully, "There was this…thing…and it was green and…slimy…and I think it's mad with me…"
Eliot sighed, getting up to walk over to Parker and lead her into the kitchen, where he sat her on a barstool. "Okay. Where was this thing?" Eliot asked, guessing that it was probably a demon, which explained her coming to him, but not how she had run into it.
"In the sewers," Parker replied, "Can I have some hot chocolate?"
Eliot sighed and started to make some. "What were you doing in the sewers?"
"Testing an escape route out of the bank. I don't think it's a good one…" Parker trailed off as Eliot set a mug in front of her, complete with tiny marshmellows.
The sewer explained the slimy demon, though Eliot still wasn't sure what exactly it could have been. "Parker, if I show you pictures of demons could you tell me which one it was?"
"It was a slime monster Eliot. And I can draw a picture," Parker corrected as she started sipping at her drink.
Eliot got some paper. He had forgotten that Parker could do that, but it would make his job easier. A few minutes later the cocoa was gone and Parker handed Eliot her sketch. It was bulky and a little ape-like. "I think I know what this is…" Eliot replied, going to get a book off his shelves. He flipped through until he found the page he was looking for with a similar sketch on it. "This it?"
Parker nodded, putting her empty mug in the sink like Eliot had told her to time and time again (this was the first time she had done so without a reminder, which meant that she was probably a little more shaken up than she was showing and proved his theory that she only didn't do it in order to annoy him).
Eliot looked back down at the passage in the book. "Kill it with fire," he read. Of course you're supposed to kill something slimy with fire. Eliot sighed and went to collect some things. "Come on, Parker, show me where you found this thing."
When Parker and Eliot tumbled into Nate's apartment the next morning, it was barely showered after trudging through the sewers all night. And they were late (but the demon was dead, so Eliot didn't really care).
"Where have you two been?" Nate asked, glaring at them as they sat down, "You're never late."
"Parker had me exterminate a demon," Eliot grumbled.
"It was a slime monster."
"It doesn't matter. We were in the sewers all night," Eliot replied, glaring at the thief.
Parker huffed, pouting like a small child.
"What kind of demon?" Sophie asked, leaning foreword.
"Slime monster!"
Eliot shook his head in Sophie's direction. He didn't want to talk about it. Sometimes he forgot that she had known about this before the rest of the team (a story he had yet to get out of her). "Doesn't matter. It's dead."
"Can we get to the briefing now?" Nate interrupted before Sophie could reply, "People are in need, you know! Specifically, the entire city under the rule of a corrupt mayor!"
Eliot smirked. It had only been a few days since Angel had left, but everything seemed to have been forgotten about or pushed to the back of everyone's mind. Things were back to normal. And while normal for them was quite abnormal, he wouldn't have it any other way.
A/N: I was working on my Angel fic and this popped into my head. I thought it was a cute post-Convergence wrap-up. What do y'all think?
