disclaimer: Pokemon ain't mine.
pairings: Proton/Lyra. Brief mentions of Leaf/Proton. Lyra/Silver. Leaf/Green (Blue).
notes: there wasn't a lot that inspired me. and for the record, I firmly believe that Silver was Giovanni's bastard son. the entire plot makes more sense that way.
inspiration: the first quote inspired the whole thing.

historical musings and lyrical dying
(if history keeps repeating itself, he thinks he might just pull the trigger.)

.

"You hold her like you love her."

And Proton isn't sure, where he heard that phrase before— but, he thinks it was a long long time ago when he was a young boy who had just joined the Rockets and there was this beautiful girl with brown hair, and green leafy eyes who stared at him, helplessly, defiantly. Like a contradiction.

(but that girl is gone— somewhere far away to a man with dark green green eyes and messy brown hair. and sometimes, he pretends he doesn't remember when history repeats all over again.)

The girl before him, reminds him a lot of that girl yet, they were full of differences like how this girl has those brown warm warm eyes and she keeps staring at him like he isn't an awful person and stares at him as if he's only human.

It makes him feel weak.

.

So when the girl is brought to her knees, he carries her and presents his pray to the boss— whose cold, grim words and cruel smirks match the world. He didn't love the girl, he tells the boss (who tells him that he holds her with love), but the boss keeps shaking his head and his lazy cat pokémon keeps staring at him with those eyes and he just wants to forget about everything— but still he stays puts, until the boss says the word so he can leave with her in his arms.

She is a prisoner— and every single day, he watches her stare at him softly; her eyes empty and so cold, yet so warm. She is a contradiction, a paradox and he oh so desperately wishes that she could see the world like him, so maybe he could kiss those lips of hers and see if they taste like ice and fire. He licks his lips, thinking he'll enjoy it.

And he thinks of that girl with green leafy eyes, but shakes those thoughts out of his head and leaves the room.

.

He kisses her today, all rough and demanding and slow and understanding and she squirms and tries to fight it, but he too can see that she's caving. She's older now, more breakable, stronger, but she's still weak when she's trapped in a man's embrace.

.

Those eyes now stare at him with hate— he can't see traces of the old her in them, he can see revulsion, and disgust, and too many bad memories in her soul and wonders why she thinks that because she knows that her knight in shining armor is coming for her.

He can hear the shouts and the cries and the screams from the other Rockets, as the Boss's bastard son arrives to save her.

The knight comes.

She runs to him.

And Proton can only see darkness in that boy, and light in that girl. A contradiction, he thinks as he wonders what made her fall in love with the boy.

(because he thinks somehow, he might have fallen in love with her just like he did on that day. that night.)

.

Proton sees her today— after many long cruel years and grabs the girl closely and kisses her— just so he can forget and not care and just try to drink enough of her lips so that he can't care for her. Only to leave her in an alleyway lost.

She shouts, and tries to run after him.

He doesn't look back.

.

he's sick and tired of seeing history and songs repeat and repeat— so he stopped the tape and he'll never regret it.
