Author's Note: Yeah okay, the "Till Death Do Us Part" killed me, and I couldn't leave my fictional pairing of Dom/Ariadne like that. So this was born. Moments after the first. Hey I had twins! Hahaha. O.o Anyway, enjoy!

If someone had asked Dom Cobb what had compelled him to kiss Ariadne, he wouldn't have a clue what to tell them. Perhaps it was his growing fear that if he didn't express how he felt about Ariadne before the inception he never would. The thought of losing her hurt him in ways that weren't unfamiliar to him – he was experienced in the art of heart break. As one might've guessed, he didn't adapt to it easily. He guessed it was because he didn't want history repeating itself.

Matters of the heart were difficult to define. Of course he loved Mal, he doubted that would ever change – but the way he felt for Ariadne was too powerful for him to ignore. It was the first time he'd felt alive since his wife was. Ariadne was beautiful, unique, and strangely articulate for someone her age – she intrigued him, after years of life something still managed to intrigue him and make him feel. That something came in the form of a young woman, the architect – his architect.

How else would Ariadne know how he felt about her unless he showed her? Telling her simply didn't feel like it was enough. Actions spoke louder than words, after all.

He caught Ariadne by the arm before they entered the hotel room to be sedated once more. He pulled her to the side – he found he really liked the way she looked when she was confused. It amused him. But he had to hurry; it wasn't like they had a lot of time. Quickly, his lips were on hers and he felt himself smirk at how taken aback she was; however, once it seemed to register to her what was going on she responded eagerly, lips meshing together and arms embracing each other like they would never let go again.

"Cobb, Ariadne, hurry! We don't have much time!" The twosome heard Arthur call out to them from inside the room. They broke apart; Ariadne was flustered and couldn't keep the giddy smile off her face. He quickly stroked her cheek, fighting his own silly smile – after all, this was hardly the time and place.

It was hard to let Ariadne be apart of the inception after that, his fear of losing her to limbo was more than he could bear… but he knew that once this was over, more kisses would follow their first. And these ones would be experienced in reality. The thought made Dom Cobb smile genuinely for the first time in a very long time.
