Disclaimer:: I don't own anything except this story. Ouran High School Host Club rightfully belongs to Bisco Hatori. (-:
Note:: Hi! This is actually my first time writing for this fandom, so please forgive me for the OOCness of the characters. I may also start writing romance-based stories about TamaHaru and KyoHaru. But for now, this is the only thing I can publish.
What is broken cannot be repaired. The same applies to a person; one's heart that is shattered to pieces cannot be stuck back together. A deep wound slashed through their soul can scar them for life.
And what is lost can no longer be found.
Kyoya Ootori knows this; sure he does. He is not an oblivious idiot who does not pay attention to his surroundings. Heck, among all the Host Club members —aside from Haruhi Fujioka— he is the most perspective. He takes in every single detail; from their customers' comments to profits, and from his companions' actions to their affection for a certain brunette.
Kyoya records the events taking place every day in his hardback copy. The others may think that the only things he writes down there are merits and anything business-related.
Well, they are partially wrong.
The young Ootori does not only keep record of money, but thoughts about his friends, too. It may sound ridiculous, but he cares for them deeply. Just as Haruhi had once stated: Kyoya is a nice person underneath that cool façade. And ever since then, he watches her carefully and pays a lot more attention than he all ready has.
But the outcome of observing her for a long time is regret.
No, it's not like he regrets watching her. He regrets not being able to confess his feelings towards her. He regrets that he is not fast enough to act.
. . . . And he regrets letting his guard down.
Kyoya loves Haruhi deeply; he knows of this fact, too. He is fascinated by her unique nature the first time they've met. He is intrigued with her ways of thinking. He likes . . . No; admires her courageous attitude and intelligence. Although there are times he gets annoyed by how oblivious the girl is, he likes that side of her, also.
But thinking all about his love for her only brings him pain. Pain because in truth, he can never have her. Even if he fights for it, he knows he had all ready lose since the beginning.
Because Haruhi reciprocates Tamaki's feelings.
On one night, the night of their graduation, Tamaki Suoh confesses his love for her under the beautiful starry sky. The blond-haired male finally realises his longing for Haruhi— the reasons for his delusions of him and her.
And the brunette returns it with three magical words that even Kyoya Ootori wants to hear: I love you.
There and then his heart skips a beat. The world and time freezes, and the evening breeze feels colder than usual.
His heart —which he now know exists— bleeds continuously, and they shatter into millions of pieces like broken glass.
Broken; what a befitting word. The one word that describes his one-sided love. The one word that describes his current state.
. . . . And the one word that describes his dreams of having a future with her.
