Leave out all the rest.

His mother smiled wickedly "Oh, how cute you don't know."

Sword met sword though blood seeped from his arms.

"What do you speak of!" He barked at her,

"Oh don't you feel it, she's coming for you."

He was going to kill Inuyasha.

His mother was right; the Miko was getting closer. His brother's sword swiped his leg leaving an open cut there to.

"Distracted I see." His mother taunted,

Sesshomaru could see Kagome now running, hear her calling his name.

His brother knocked him to the ground, and Sesshomaru caught himself on all fours, sword still in hand. His mother crouched down "Just like your father" She whispered,

"He came to save his pregnant mate and instead died."

Sesshomaru's eyes started to blur,

"You come to save yours, and like him, you will die, as I said, three birds with one stone."

Sesshomaru shook his head, and he could tell his eyes were bleeding.

"Don't you know yet my son, can't you feel it, smell it, even from here I can tell."

A slash came to his back, and he roared,

"She's carrying your pup, and when I am done with you, I will kill them."

His brother's sword came down for the kill and Sesshomaru's mind could only focus on one thing.

Her.

Her dark hair waving behind her as she came running to save him. Her voice as she screamed at him to get up. His mark on her neck, his smell on her skin.

His seed growing in her womb.

Nothing. Nothing else mattered — no his life, not his death only the child that now grew in her.

He wasn't like his father, she was. She was coming to protect him, and their baby and fear crept up into his spine because he knew if he died here, she would too.
Just like his father and their baby was nowhere near being born. Inuyasha could bring her back, but the baby would never be revived, and that would be far worse than death to her.

He could not allow that; he could not give her something so special and then take it away.

Nothing else mattered now — not his land, not his title, not himself.

He didn't need to die for her; he needed to live for her.

His movement was quick, his back met with the ground, and his fang grew and went straight into his brother's heart. He twisted the sword and thrust his power.

"You will die." Die he did, and the wind took the ash of his brother away.

Then Sesshomaru looked at his mother.

"Stay back Kagome." He left no room for argument as he stood over his mother "You made one fatal mistake woman."

His mother back up,

"You like all others underestimate my mate," He slung his sword removing the blood from it.

"You thought I would die for this human and half breed child she carries?"

Kagome gasped, and he felt the hurt in the bond. But he was done hurting her.

"You will die."

He swung his sword "I won't die for them, I will live for them."

He took her head clean off, and the sword left his hand a clanked to the ground.

He moved so fast; he caught Kagome before she fell to the ground.

"Kagome,"

"You, I, you almost-

"Enough," He purred "It doesn't matter I am here, you are here." Sesshomaru placed and hand on her belly "He is here, leave out all the rest and let us have this moment."

She smiled, and he leaned down and sealed her mouth with his "Do you forgive your mate, Miko?"

"I may make you sleep in the dog house for a few nights."

He growled playfully,

"I forgive you."

And just like that nothing else in the world mattered, only them. Only her, only their baby. He could not wait to meet their baby.

So, if you're asking me, I want you to know

"You do not resent me?"

Her eyes met his "Sesshomaru, do you love me?"

Sesshomaru rubbed her growing belly "I will protect you both."

Kagome bit her lip, even if it was only once she wanted to hear him say it, for him to tell her.

"I know actions speak louder than words," She fiddled "But sometimes humans need words."

Sesshomaru moved his hand and kissed her belly, one kiss here, another there " You should never have to ask Miko, but since you are I will tell you." He kissed her belly again "I have a secret little one, listen well,"

Kagome smiled, and his eyes met hers "I love you both, more than anyone before me, or after me."

He leaned up, and their lips met, and Kagome smiled into it. Sesshomaru loved just as he lived, with perfection and strength.

Now he had something to protect and while he would have many to leave behind when it was all said in done, but he would never leave, he would live happily ever after, forever.

The End,
