LULLABY

~if you're not lost, I guess that makes you found~

-Lullaby; Newton Faulkner-

Close your eyes. Breathe deeply. Go to sleep. Don't fret, don't worry your mind with unrealized nightmares. I'm here. Don't worry. I'm here and I'm not going to leave, so don't be afraid. Don't be afraid to go to sleep. Don't be afraid to dream. I'll watch over you. I'll stay awake and chase away unforgotten shadowy ghosts that try to sneak into your mind's nighttime meanderings. I'll fight away the monsters that threaten your rest. I'll smooth your hair back from your untroubled brow. I'm not going anywhere as long as you need me- you only ever had to ask and I'd have been by your side in a heartbeat. But I'm here now. I'll sit by your bed as lights slowly switch out, until the night sky pales in the face of dawn. You don't have to be alone. You don't ever have to be alone. You don't need to hide, you don't need to disguise your tired eyes. You don't need to toss and turn and awake frightened in the middle of the night. I'll be here. I'm here right beside you and I'll never leave. I'll blow away any bad dreams, I'll catch any tremors that might cause you to awake. I'll softly sing you to sleep. Don't worry. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. Sleep easy. You're safe.

~i'll tuck you in, plant my lips where your necklaces close~

-Lullaby; The Spill Canvas-

A/N: As said in the summary, this really could be used for any pairing, any fandom under the sun. Pretty much. I put it in the NCIS section because I was vaguely thinking of Tony and Ziva when I wrote it. And then I didn't post it until about a week after I wrote it because I was dithering over what category to put it in.

Both songs are awesome songs; and I'd love to know what you thought of the story (if it can really be classified as such).
