"It's cute." Patsy blew smoke out the side of her mouth. "...What is it?"

"It's a puppy, Pats."

"Right. ...What's it doing here?"

"I got him for Saffy because she's cross with me."

"Good idea, Eds, good idea." Patsy nodded her approval. "Soften the bitch up with this... fluffy thing."

"Puppy, Pats."

"Right, yeah. Puppy." Reaching out with her free hand, Patsy easily lifted the small animal and brought it up to her eye level. "Why would anyone ever need one of these? Does it do anything?"

"It's supposed to be a pet, you know, to love you and be faithful and follow you round and things."

"Sounds like a man, only it actually does what it's supposed to." Patsy gave a little snort at her own joke.

"Well, I'm hoping—cross your fingers, Darling—hoping it'll smooth things over with Saffy."

"Oh Eddy, she's always got a bug up her arse about something. Even after all you've done for her! Always finds something to—It's attacking me!" she shrieked as the puppy began licking her face.

"Don't drop him, I need him for Saffy to make her love me again!" Edina shouted.

Patsy recovered her composure, pulling the puppy back to arm's length, away from her face. She eyed the puppy with suspicion. "I'm onto you. Don't you try anything like that again. I will kill you." After a few moments she glanced at Edina. "What's she on about this time?"

"Letting you stay in the house."

"God, again with that? I've lived here before, she ought to be used to it by now."

"I know, I know," Edina sighed, stepping closer and taking the puppy from Patsy, cradling him against her chest and scratching between his ears. "Apparently it's not so much the fact that I'm letting you stay in the house..." She looked up at Patsy coyly, a knowing glint in her eyes. "It's more that I'm letting you sleep in my bed."

Patsy grinned wickedly, grasping the belt loop of Edina's jeans and pulling her into a kiss. "That bitch," she muttered with a smirk.
