Epilogue
Balthezar sat up and looked out the window of the room that he was in. A smile ghosted across his face as he looked at the snow that lay on the ground. It had been a few months since he had arrived in the past. It had been summer when he had arrived in the past, much to his confusion. Yet, he was glad that it was winter once again. He touched the window with one hand and smiled as he watched the snow. He still loved looking at the snow that covered Hogwarts. A knock on his door drew his attention away from his thoughts.
Looking at the door, he turned around. ^Enter.^ The door opened and revealed Salazar. The man gave Balthezar one of his very small smiles. Balthezar returned the smile. -It's a pleasure to see you again, Salazar. I take it that you're here to grill me again?- He kept the smile on his face as he said those words. He knew that he wasn't a prisoner in the school, but they did ask him a lot of questions.
Salazar shook his head. -Your sense of humour is interesting, boy. I came to get you for the morning meal. I see you slept in your clothes again.- Balthezar shrugged and put his boots on. Salazar watched him. -You would think that I would have taught you not to do that. We have our nightclothes for a reason. We are not in a war and do not need to be wearing our clothes to bed.- Balthezar didn't say anything as he moved toward the door.
Balthezar stopped at the door. -I know that I told you the truth, Salazar. You asked me for that information. I have been as honest as you have taught me to be. I told you who I was. How you ended up raising me. I told you how my birth name allowed me to destroy the headmaster. I shared everything about how the school has changed in my original time. I told you about the man that was my biological father.- Balthezar stopped and sighed. -You know that I owe you for making sure that I could do what was needed. Yet, the only thing that I have no knowledge of is of the people that I lived with. I have no knowledge of what happened to Blaise. I know that he stayed to fight the battle. I know that Severus Snape killed the headmaster. However, I don't care. I am where I wish to be.- He then walked out of the room. Salazar followed him and closed the door.
Salazar stopped Balthezar with a touch. -I know that you miss those that you grew close to, Balthezar. It would have been inevitable. It doesn't matter what you think. You lived with them, but I will help you with becoming comfortable here again. You know that I will. Come, it is time for the morning meal.- He then walked off. Balthezar watched the man for a moment before following him. After all, he knew that the man was right about everything.
Gray Vale; Three Years Later
Balthezar walked into the pub that was on Gray Vale and looked around. He was searching for someone. His eyes stopped when they landed on someone in a back of the pub. He smiled and walked over to the man. -Good evening, Amadeus. I am glad that you were willing to come.- He sat across from the ancient vampire. The man didn't have anything to drink. That wasn't unusual, though Balthezar knew that they could drink.
Amadeus shook his head. -I came because you presented an intriguing proposal, young Slytherin. You wish to become like us. It is unusual that one would willingly to join my people. Most people wish to remain human.- Balthezar nodded in agreement. He knew that to be true. It didn't matter what time a person lived in, the majority of humans wanted to stay that way.
Balthezar set his hand on the table. -Yes, I know. However, I feel that I must be able to live for a long time. That will not happen without your help. There may be ways to lengthen my stay, but none as effective as yours. I'm willing to become a member of your clan and defer to you in all things. I have no issue with following your rule, Amadeus.- He looked the ancient vampire in the eyes. He knew that the man would want to look through his mind. It was important for protecting the clan. That was something Balthezar didn't mind allowing.
Amadeus looked at Balthezar for a moment and then nodded. -You do have a very interesting reason, Balthezar Slytherin. Yes, I will help you. I will admit that it seems odd to help someone to return to their…Birth time. Of course, you have to remember that you will be unable to interfere with anything until after your younger self returns here.- Balthezar nodded. He had spent three years thinking about what to do. After all, he had been missing the time that he had come from.
Balthezar nodded again. -Yes, I do understand that. I need to return there. I hadn't thought that I would miss my friends, but I have. I know that I won't be the same by then. I will have seen much more. I will have had years to live. Yet, it's what I need to do. Will you agree to my request? Will you make me an ancient vampire?- Balthezar waited to see what Amadeus would say. He had a feeling that the man would agree, but he wasn't going to assume that.
Amadeus nodded. -Yes, I will turn you. Now, let us leave. It's best to do this quickly.- Balthezar nodded and stood. Amadeus did a well. The two then walked out of the pub and disappeared into the mists that had spread across Grey Vale.
Hogsmeade; Current Day, Two years after the Battle
Balthezar stood outside of the Hogshead. His eyes looked up to the castle. His eyes appeared to glow more ethereal than ever as he stared at the ancient castle. He shook his head and walked into the pub to meet someone that he had waited a long time to see. However, he was shocked at the sight of two people waiting for him. Blaise and Pandora were waiting for him to arrive. Balthezar stared and walked over to them. Sitting in a seat, he nodded to them.
Blaise looked at Balthezar. "You look…Older." It seemed as if the man had no idea what to say. Balthezar nodded. Despite being an ancient vampire, he did have a chance to add three more years to his body before becoming one. Plus, his eyes showed the years that he had lived.
Pandora smiled. "It's a pleasure to see that you have been well these past years, Balthezar. Then again, you have lived since the Founders Era." Blaise blinked. It appeared as if Pandora hadn't told him the truth about his friend.
Balthezar shrugged. "Yes, it has been a long time for me, Blaise. I'm sorry that I disappeared so long ago. I hadn't realized that the battle between me and that man would take me to the past." He stopped speaking then. Blaise thought about his words.
Blaise then nodded. "Understandable. I will admit that it seems strange for you to become this." Balthezar shrugged. He didn't want to say that it was because he had come to care about them. He didn't want them to know that he had wondered how they were doing. Yet, he was glad that they had both lived. He could see that they weren't unmarked. Blaise had a scar across his face from the battle and Pandora had lost her mother. Those scars would always be there, but they had survived.
Pandora nodded. "Yes, we are safe. I still find it sad that my mother died, but you allowed us to be free. We thank you for that, Balthezar. Are you going to be rejoining society now? Will you be using your own name?" He knew that she was asking if he would still be Balthezar. Yet, he didn't want to use that name. He intended to give it up.
Balthezar shook his head. "Yes, I will be returning to society. I am still a part of Amadeus' group. However, I won't be Balthezar any longer. I will not be Harry Potter either. I have decided to become Silvan, Silvan Riddle. Riddle was my father's last name and Silvan was the name that Salazar nearly gave me. I think that it's time to take those names as my own." Both Blaise and Pandora nodded.
Blaise stretched. "Well, I'm glad that everything is fine. However, I need to be going. I hope to see you again Bal…Silvan." He then left. Balthezar watched him leave. He then turned towards Pandora. She was standing as well.
Pandora smiled. "It's good that you are going to use your true name, Silvan. I know that we'll meet again." She then left. Balthezar let out a sigh.
He then looked to the ceiling. 'My life has been on hold for so long. I almost forgot that I could live it at some point. That time is now. I can live my life by my rules.' He then gave a smile that hid his teeth. 'Yes, I can have my life. It's finally my time to have a life.' He then got up and left the pub. He walked out of that pub and left Balthezar Slytherin behind. He was now Silvan Riddle and would enjoy his life until it ended.
