Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters or maps of L4D1 and 2. I DO own Danny and the Witch (name shall be supplied in later chapters)!
A/N: Sup once more readers! I AM STILL ALIVE! After reading xmodius's L4D Movie Night and Double Feature, I got inspired to continue writing this story despite the low number of reviews (Signals Danny to begin loading 'Hades'...) so if you want someone to thank, talk to xmodius. Anyway, despite being in the middle of exams, here is the long awaited Chapter 2!
Chapter 2: Trapped with a Witch Danny couldn't believe his luck... First he had to run his ass off to escape from a goddamn horde of Infected and if that wasn't enough, he just had to go and barricade himself in a room with the worst Infected he could fuckin' think of! Now he was stuck facing said Witch as it just sat there, moaning away and nicely blocking his only way out of this hell hole...
Quickly calming himself down, Danny began to try to think of a way to somehow get past the Witch without disturbing her or (with the help of a miracle) make the Witch move without slicing him into swiss cheese. Facing the Witch, Danny sat with his back against one of the walls of the room so that the Witch would not jump him if it suddenly decided it was hungry... Holding 'Hades' in front of him, Danny once again racked his brain for any idea that could help him somehow get past the Witch, only to see them end with him getting torn to shreds... Shaking his head in frustration, he placed his hands on the floor, only to feel something warm and sticky meet them...
'This human surprises me...' thought whatever remained of the Witch's mind as she let her glowing red eyes drift to the human sitting away from her. 'Keeping it's distance... Good,' thought the Witch as she continued to wail...
In honesty, the Witch was surprised that the human had not yet attacked her or left, instead it just sat there with it's head in it's hands. Turning away, she began to lift her left arm, only to feel what could probably be described as the most agonizing spasm of pain shooting through her body, causing her to scream in agony...
Danny instantly jumped at the feel of the sticky substance under his hand. Not daring to turn on his flash light, he guessed that the sticky liquid was blood, the only question was who... or what did it belong to...
His question was answered a second later when an ear shattering scream echoed through the room. Looking for the source of the sound, he was shocked to see the Witch grasping it's left arm with it's hand... Not caring if it got scratched by it's claws as it's body twitched with pain. It was then that Danny noticed under the dim lighting the long gash that covered the Witches forearm, a slow trickle of blood dripping in a puddle beneath her. Looking down on his hands again, he quickly began to wipe them off on his jacket, disgusted at the thought of coming in contact with Witches blood...
Before Danny could do anything a sudden idea came to him... Looking back at the Witch, he saw that this new inspiration actually had a chance of him walking out of this in one piece... but was not without one helluva big risk... In short, it was the old, 'Screw up and your dead' gamble. But it was one he was willing to take...
Holstering 'Hades' and pulling out a first-aid kit he picked up a while back, he prepared himself for what could be the biggest and last mistake of his life... 'Please make this insane scheme work...' prayed Danny to whatever God was still out there as he took a deep breath and yelled...
The Witch was rudely shaken out of her agony as a sudden voice yelled, "HEY!" startling her. Whipping her head around, she started to growl at the human who dared disturb her, only to see the human from before, holding his hands high in the air, holding what looked like a bright red square in one of them...
Waiting for a few moments, the human took a deep breath before continuing to say, "I'm not gonna hurt you okay. I just want to bandage you up," making all sorts of funny hand gestures to try and convey the meaning... Waiting for another moment, the Witch stopped growling at the human but eyed him warily as it slowly started to come closer to her, arms still held up to show it was unarmed...
As it drew closer, the Witch had to repress her instinctive urge to lash out at the human approaching her... As it drew even more closer, she had to fight even more with herself to stop wanting to pounce the human... A small growl escaped her lips, causing the human to momentarily freeze and pale... Clamping her lips tightly shut, she watched as the human approached her to the point that it was now kneeling right next to her... Holding back as much as she could, the Witch watched as the human reached into the bright red packet, causing her to tense her claws in case the human had a weapon hidden inside...
Too her surprise, there was no weapon, instead it pulled out something circular with writing on it... Twisting the top, it split open to reveal some sort of blue sludge. Taking some in it's fingers, it lifted her arm with the other and began to rub the sludge into her wound...
'I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS ACTUALLY WORKED!' thought Danny as he rubbed the medical cream on it's pale arm. Seeing as this may be the only chance to see a Witch up close without it trying to make him mince meat, he quickly gave it a full body examination...
The Witch was dressed in what looked like the remains of a dress that only covered her chest as well as something that vaguely resembled underwear, both now pale or discolored... Her hair, unlike other Witches, was grown down to her waist. He also noticed a very faint black streak in her hair but thought nothing of it... Looking down at her body, he was surprised to see that this Witch did not look like any of the previous Witches he had seen. Instead of being gaunt or anorexic, she instead had a round soft face he could honestly say that if she wasn't a Witch, he'd have probably started flirting with her in the middle of fighting a horde of Infected. Then he noticed her eyes... While they still glowed red like all Witches, he could've sworn he saw a slight emerald tint hiding somewhere behind the ominous red... Shaking himself out of his reverie, he quickly set his mind back to him original job of patching a Witch... and surviving...
The feel of the humans fingers on her wound felt like a smooth pillow as it rubbed the blue sludge into her wound, calming the irritation and stopping the pain... Looking at the human again, she was surprised to see that it was a male with dark hair falling over his eyes.
Just looking at the human made all of the insistent nagging to kill him or just sit there and cry disappear as he slowly began to wrap some tape thing around her wound, his fingers tender and gentle as they danced over her arm... The Witch would call herself a liar if she said she was not interested in this human... Unlike others who just attacked and hurt her, this one actually wanted to help and heal her. Knowing he would leave soon, she quickly began to inhale, memorizing his scent to remember him...
Finishing the last knot on the bandage, he leaned back to admire his handiwork, only to remember that said handiwork was on the arm of a Witch... Shaking himself again, he assured the Witch that her arm would heal before stepping out onto the fire escape that awaited him outside...
The minute he felt the cool night air hit his face, he immediately broke out into an ear-to-ear grin, not quite believing that he did what normal people would say was impossible... Thanking whatever God had granted his this miracle as he turned back towards the Witch he patched up, only to see her stare back with equal curiosity in her red eyes. Unsure of what to do, he gave her a quick smile and waved goodbye before descending down the stairs of the fire escape, hoping to never have to go through that fiasco again...
Staring at the human as he stepped out of the window onto the fire escape, the Witch couldn't help but feel upset about this 'different' human leaving. Staring at his back, she was surprised to see him turn around and stare at her for a moment before giving her a smile and waving his hand before descending down the stairs, leaving her all alone once again...
As his footsteps got farther away, she could feel her normal instincts start to creep up on her again. Doing her best to control them, she quickly sniffed the air, only to smell the strong scent of the human that was with her a moment ago... Feeling her urge to hide in a corner and cry suddenly subside, the Witch then realized that the human that was with her seemed to repress her normal instincts, letting her feel more... free... Making a quick decision, she quickly got up, sniffing the air and walking out of the room...
