Harry Potter and the Goblin Kings Heir
Authors Notes
Here's the next one a bit sooner than I thought. Hope everyone likes it, new and old. If things keep going well I can have a genuine new chapter out before Christmas. Just one more to go before I'm finished editing. As always I do not own Harry Potter or Labyrinth, otherwise, I'd be rich.
Chapter 1: It begins
Far away in the Goblin City
Jareth, King of the Goblins, was bored. Hardly anyone knew the tale of the Goblin King anymore, and wishes were rare. When his father ruled, the tale of the Goblin King was treated as the wizarding world's version of the boogeyman and he could remember many times when a jealous sibling would wish their brothers or sisters away. Most of the time they were able to retrieve their sibling and were taught a valuable lesson, other times, well, let's just say the goblins were not too kind to those who would callously abandon a child. He fondly remembered some of the encounters over the years and how they changed so much, but, alas. The fact was that people were forgetting the old ways and he was becoming but a myth. Jareth sighs before rubbing his temple, wondering why he agreed to be King in the first place. There were more important things he could be doing with his time however, the duties of a King never ended, so here he was. His thinking was interrupted by the doors banging open and a diminutive little goblin rushing into the throne room.
"What do you want?", sighed Jareth wearily. The Goblin bowed quickly before straightening up.
" Sire, sorry for disturbing you, but there is a problem. We have just received word that a child has been wished away, but when we tried to retrieve him there was some type of barrier blocking us.", squeaked the Goblin. Jareth sat up straighter with an interested look upon his face.
"Really", he mused.
"Yes Sire, also", here the Goblin started shuffling his feet and wringing his hands together, "also our sorcerers have detected a strange energy signature.", the Goblin tensed his shoulders and bowed his head, trembling slightly.
"Energy signature? Well, what of it? Spit it out!", barked Jareth.
"They, they think it's an abomination Sire!", the tiny Goblin squeaked in terror.
"An abomination?", Jareth roared, leaping from his throne and bearing down on the terrified Goblin.
"Yes Sire!", by now the Goblin was swaying side to side and had gone a light grey colour, staring at his King with wide eyes.
"I thought those fools had learnt their lesson when my grandfather enacted justice over that idiot Herpo, may he rot forever in the oubliette.", Jareth sneered.
"Here is the address Sire", continued the Goblin. He quickly handed his King a slip of paper and scuttled back when Jareth snatched it from him. He read the address and dismissed the Goblin with a wave of his hand. The Goblin bowed before fleeing the throne room. Jareth sighed again before turning into an owl and disappearing in a swirl of silver glitter.
Godrics Hollow
A brown and white barn owl with mismatched eyes landed on a nearby oak tree and took in the scene currently taking place before him. His eyes zeroed in on the nursery.
A couple of minutes before in Harry's Nursery
The door burst open and in the doorway was Voldemort. Lily screamed and Voldemort's shrill laugh filled the air. His red eyes looked around the room to where Harry was sitting in his crib and started walking towards him. Lily upon seeing where he was looking, stood more protectively in front of him.
"Not Harry, not Harry, please not Harry!", she pleaded.
" Stand aside, you silly girl", he hissed, stepping closer and closer, " stand aside, now."
He stopped three feet in front of her. Lily shook her head back and forth, with tears trailing down her cheeks.
" Not Harry, please no, take me, kill me instead! Please, I'll do anything!", she begged. Voldemort laughed cruelly at the desperate mother and raised his wand towards the baby. Lily broke down, sobbing in front of her husbands' murderer and spread her arms out behind her to cover her baby, praying in her mind for someone to come protect him, unaware of the owl that had just landed outside the window.
" Not Harry! Please….have mercy….have mercy…", she pleaded again. Having enough with Lily he turned his wand to her and hissed "So be it," before shouting "Avada Kedavra". Lily screamed, whilst Voldemort laughed with wicked glee as she was bathed in green light.
The owl outside watched on with horror.
Back with Jareth
Jareth was horrified as well as furious. He recognised the abomination as the supposed dark lord those wizards were having problems with. Normally he would leave it to the wizards to deal with, but this Voldemorts despicable followers made it personal by attacking what was his. Seething with resentment and suppressed anger, he transformed back and prepared an orb. Seeing the dark wizard raising his wand to the baby, Jareth gathered his powers and combined them with the ancient blood magic he detected as soon as the mother perished. Quickly, he unleashed the energy and encased the child in an invisible dome of protection, undetected to all but him. Not a second later the dark wizard cast the killing curse. An eerie green light erupted from the wand and sailed through the air as it collided with the dome, before reflecting back to the caster. The abomination screamed an ear-piercing cry of devastating pain as his soul was torn from his body as it imploded, taking out part of the house with it.
A dark wraith tried to flee the scene before it was captured in a glowing orb. Jareth, smirking evilly whilst showing his pointed teeth, walked to the ball and picked it up.
"Well, well, well, where do you think you are going abomination?", he sneered at the orb before smiling and throwing the ball up and down, whilst stepping into the destroyed house to check on the child, thankfully he was unharmed bar a small cut on his forehead. Grinning at the orb he peered inside at the writhing mass, brought it to his lips and whispered,
"Off to the oubliette for you, I think, but don't worry, we'll have our fun soon."
Staring at the orb darkly he grinned.
"After all, you and I have some unfinished business.", he crooned before laughing darkly and leaning in close.
"And", he hissed, "If you thought you were being clever with your disgusting soul pieces, then I. Will. Take. Great, pleasure in having my subjects find every. Last. One. Then I will personally rip them apart, piece by piece, right in front of your pathetic eyes. Now then, off you go abomination, your punishment awaits.", With a flick of the wrist, the orb vanished.
Walking to the baby, he smiled softly and soothed the crying babe, gently picking him up from the wreckage. Swaying side to side, he shushed him and dried his tears.
"Now, now little one. No need for that. Let's take you to your new home.", before vanishing once more in a swirl of glitter.
Authors Notes
Hope everyone likes this, to those who remember the previous version, Jareth's character is more in the know this time of the wizarding world and his character is a bit darker. This will be explained in the next couple of chapter's, it was something I forgot to add in the original that would of made any further chapters I wrote make zero sense. I have recently learnt about cause and effect in writing and realised that I needed Jareth to act differently at the start. Hope everyone likes it, two chapters in a week yay.
