Distrust

Summary: Never again will I ever trust you.

Okay, this is my first story to have it written in 2nd p.o.v. In the future, I might write in this style again...well, maybe not. Writing in third p.o.v is so much easier.

This is also the first story I have written to have a...not-so-happy ending.

My eyes were set onto the deep, never ending space. In the distance, the bright stars were scattered through out the space. I growl and slam my clenched fist on the window, my eyes never left the scenery. I always come to the Ark when I want to think about you.

..SI.

"Shadow!" You smiled, rubbed and tickled my ear. I smiled back at you, something that would be considered rare. But I couldn't help it, you were the only person to make me smile.

"Stop it!" I swatted your hand away, laughing lightly. I was extremely ticklish with my ear, and you knew that.

"I'm sorry, Shadow," You beamed at me and kneeled to the floor. Your blonde hair spilled in your face; with your hand, you gently place the golden lock behind your ear. I slowly kneel with you. Your face suddenly becomes serious.

"What's the matter?" I ask concerned about you.

"Shadow, I want you to be happy."

"But I am happy-" I protest; you look at me with a soft smile on your face.

"-Well, when I'm with you...that is," I mutter, inaudible for you. You pull me close to you, engaging me into a warm, tender hug.

"I'm so glad that you're happy, Shadow," you told me in an angelic voice. I look into your sky blue eyes and I see fresh tears forming into your eyes. I scrunch up my nose, as if someone had released a terrible stench in the air, in confusion. Your hands start to tremble.

"What's wrong? It looks as if you're about to...cry?" You smile and use the back of your hand to wipe away the tears.

"I'm sorry Shadow, I just got a little emotional there," You sniffle and smooth out your matching sky blue dress. "Can I ask you a question, Shadow?"

I nod my head.

"When I die, you'll still be happy, right Shadow?" My mouth opens, I glare at you in shock, thinking how you could ask such a thing.

"How could you ask such a thing?" I blurt out, my mouth was still opened in shock.

"Don't worry Shadow," You giggle, softly. I still glare at you for asking such a ludicrous question. "I won't die, I'll be alive for a very long time. I'm not going anywhere." You explain, grasping on my hand with yours.

"I promise, Shadow."

..SI

For awhile, I believed you. I considered your words and I trusted you. But on that day, when you died, I knew you were wrong. How wrong you were. You've broken your promise to me-and that's why I'm angry at you. But mostly, I'm more angry at the G.U.N soldier for shooting you.

Now, on this day, I wander around the Ark in misery, thinking about you. Again, I slam my clenched fist against the stainless glass window.

"Never again will I ever trust you, Maria-"

My eyes shot open, and strangely a smirk was tugging at my lips. A quiet, dark chuckle comes out of my mouth.

"-Well, if there will ever be an ever." Which I highly doubt there will be.

The End!
