Hm...not bad. Slightly confusing here and there, but overall pretty good.

Interesting perspective on the Shadow/Maria relationship, I liked it. It does seem kind of awkward with the first-person narrative style.

That was a really nice story, and it made me emotional too...

'awhile' should be 'a while', but apart from that I think it was written well. ]

I think the 1st person was pulled off very well. ]
