Summary: He stood there, stunned, unable to comprehend what he had just heard. The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. He swallowed a lump in his throat the size of a small egg and asked, "What?"

T.A.R.N.S.: Deranged, for the record, doesn't begin to describe this. Anyway, this is a challenge from The World of Mermaid Melody forum. This is a massively warped crack fic for Laney-chan.

"So, Lucia-chan, you and Kaito are engaged now?" Seira, princess of the Indian sea, asked her friend.

The two of them were in the ballroom of the Pearl Piari, setting up decorations for later, for a party to celebrate Lucia and Kaito's engagement.

"Yep!" Lucia said cheerfully. "We have to wait another year before we can get married, but Nikora says I have to get married and return to the North Pacific ocean to rule it. I can hardly wait!" Lucia squealed. "I wonder what we'll name our first child…"

Lucia sighed dreamily and wandered off to finish setting up for her engagement party, leaving Seira alone with her thoughts.

Wow, Lucia's so lucky, she gets her true love, gets to get married and have a family, and everything! I wish I could be her.

The party that afternoon was a success. Among the guest were all eight Mermaid Princesses, both Princes of the Panthalassa clan, the Black Beauty Sisters, the Dark Lovers, Michal, Lanhua, Rihito, Lady Bat, Fuku, Alala, Michel, Nikora, Madame Taki, Meru, Nagisa, Hamasaki, Subaru, and Hippo.

Now that everyone was no longer each other's enemy, everyone got along well. They all congratulated the future queen and king of the North Atlantic Sea on their engagement, then stood around talking and laughing. Everyone except Seira, Hippo, Alala, Nagisa, and Yuri toasted the couple, and all generally had a good time.

And was shortly after the toast that Seira went to seek Michel out. He was talking to Gaito, both of them still holding their wineglasses.

She stood there and waited for them to finish talking. Both of them finished up what they were talking about, laughed at their joke, and turned to her.

"Seira-Sama." Gaito began.

"Did you need something?" Michel asked.

"Um…" Seira paused and put a finger to her chin, then decide to blurt it out. "Michel-kun… I want to have your baby!"

There was immediate silence in the room. Michel stood there, an absolutely stunned look on his face. A moment later his wineglass slipped from his hand and shattered on the floor, leaving a red stain on the hem of his robe. Fuku stopped flapping his wings and immediately fell to the floor. Sara, the former Orange Pearl Princess, looked like someone had stabbed her and left her to bleed.

The entire room was stupefied. But no one had as rough time of it as Michel did. He stood there, stunned, unable to comprehend what he had just heard. The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. He swallowed a lump in his throat the size of a small egg and asked, "What?"

Suddenly, Seira realized what she had just said. "Umm, never mind." She said, then turned and hurried away.

Now everyone turned to look at Michel. He took a step back. "Look, I have no idea what caused her to say that." But I really wish the floor would open up and swallow me right about now…
