Your raison d'être

He, of all people, had never been honest when it came to the issues of the heart, even if the said boy had always worn his heart bare on his sleeves (which, at some point, the pitiful heart falls off after plentiful flailing). It's somehow surprising that he would be subdued once the talk concerned reciprocating another's feelings of some sort.

And yes, Watanuki Kimihiro had lots of issues besides that, thank you very much. He had to deal with supernatural entities twenty four seven (accompanied by Doumeki, of course, since Watanuki is a boneless shrimp), had to work for a certain Dimensional witch and run errands for her (once again with the help of the same stoic archer), and had to keep himself from disappearing from his recent existence (which couldn't be done without Doumeki, expectedly). It's an awful handful, but for the likes of Watanuki Kimihiro, it's an everyday duty.

So when, one day, Doumeki had decided to take Watanuki out to an amusement park, the very foundation of the spirit seer's world shook (but reality was left unbothered, for it is hitsuzen and therefore meant to be), and he constantly found his face red and sweaty, and it isn't really a comfortable thing to be like when around...well, Doumeki Shizuka.

Because Doumeki rarely smiled. He didn't speak just for the fun of it- in fact, it was rare for him to speak at all. All the more when it came to expressing his feelings. Doumeki didn't do any of these things, though he was more physical and...frank about it.

And whenever he flailed or spazzed out or anything (that included noise and lots of movements), he would feel somewhat annoyed at how nonchalant and indifferent Doumeki was towards him. He wanted to probe any kind of emotion from the archer, ANYTHING, just so he wouldn't look any more of an idiot than he already did.

"Idiot," Doumeki told him later on, the two relaxing under a cool shade of a tree; "Idiot. Stop moving so much."

Watanuki, for once, felt tired. He leaned back, closing his eyes, and said; "I'm sorry, stupid."

Doumeki didn't reply, and though this was quite expected, the spirit seer was once again highly pissed, and turned to look at his companion. What greeted him, though, wasn't the usual blank look and dull golden eyes. Instead, there was a small, almost indiscernible smile upon the archer's face, and his there came a luminance in his amber orbs. Such a sight was too much, and it gave Watanuki a semi-heart attack; with a faint, "nyuu~", he tumbled back and leaned heavily on the trunk of the tree.

"You're really stupid," Watanuki whispered, as Doumeki's figure loomed over him- and he realized, with his lips curving into a smile upon Doumeki's own, that perhaps Doumeki was someone worth of his gratitude (considering all the things the said boy had done for him), and that perhaps Doumeki was his very own...raison d'être.

A/N: A little something I came up with sometime near 2 30 am. I decided to write something light since all the tension from The Alpha and the Omega was giving me started to get on my nerves. And the doujinshi I've been making for some time now…how I curse my sister to hell. Anyway, a little douwata drabble, GAH. Oh yeah, I think 'raison d'être' would mean something along the lines of 'reason', but you're never really sure. xD Reviews are always welcomed. Amen. X3
