This poem was inspired by the fanfic Azura. It's nowhere near the standard of that fanfic, but (hopefully) captures some of what it's about.

I'm really sorry if it's not up to Azura's standard! I can't write that well! Really, forgive me. I really shouldn't have tried this. So if you don't think it's nice, you can flame me all you want. I just wish that I could have made this poem better. I want to write as well as that, but I guess I can just keep dreaming for THE REST OF MY LIFE. I really can't stand the way I sometimes think I can do stuff that I can't.

Never Give In

It might be a wish, just a whisper of wanting

Or just an impulse to fly out through the door

A glimpse of the world through a wide-open window

Or an obligation to reach something more

-

Perhaps it's the lure of great strength or great power

A wound from the past that you'll someday defeat

An old blood-deep vengeance, a hatred like fire

The shadow of sadness, a lonely heartbeat

-

One step and you find it—eternity before you

A blank, open canvas awaiting your brush

A journey begins on the road, from your doorstep

Walk into the dawn, skies a rose-coloured blush

-

Each step of the way, as the sky's turning blacker

You face blood and terror for sake of your heart

And sometimes the light seems so dim, seems so beaten

The long distant hopes slowly, softly, depart

-

Remember the whisper, remember the window

Remember the door through which, once, you flew free

Remember your fire, your pain and your passion!

And never forget how your strength came to be.

-

Fight on then, stay ardent, and don't let it waver

Let true motivations guide you till the end

Don't turn to darkness, don't take any shortcuts

Emerge from the ashes; keep light in your hand

-

Someday, you will make it. Someday, past the darkness.

Someday, all the turmoil will give way to light

Recall the beginning, your dream, your desire

Someday in the future, you'll win, if you fight.

Now, I feel utterly ashamed that I wrote this. I really don't do Azura justice. I'm sorry, Randomness from Boredom! REALLY!! Forgive me for totally desecrating the perfectness of your fanfic.
