When James walked into the dormitory that morning, he knew that Sirius and Remus would be there. HE fully expected this, and expected both of them to either still be asleep or to be playing bored game. He even expected that Sirius may be begging Remus to do his homework for him.

What James did NOT expect when he entered the room, was to find Remus pushed against the wall, legs around Sirius' waist. He did NOT expect to find Sirius' tongue in Remus' mouth, or Sirius' hands all over Remus. Most certainly he did not expect to find Remus moaning loudly enough to wake the dead.

James could not even back slowly from the room, he was too transfixed on the scene. So he just watched all of the things he hadn't expected happen. Then he watched something he HAD expected happen. That expected thing was one of them noticing him.

Remus squealed out something that might have been a scream but was muffled by Sirius' mouth, and Sirius turned to look. Now James was the spectacle.

"Erm, I'll just… go, shall I?" James backed slowly from the room, and down the stairs.

He nearly screamed and stamped his foot at the sight of Peter and his girlfriend on the couch. Today was not James Potter's day.
