Epilogue – Last Dream
It was just a moment, between the two. A glance, the eyes of lovers connect and that moment conveys all that I needs to.
The knife in his hands clatters to the ground. The deed done, the life taken, this was his choice. And hers, she gave up her choice long ago, but still she reached for his face and touched it softly.
It was here in this moment that they fell, for each other, for every little thing, for every hope and dream, and touched souls.
Instinct, a simple calling, a longing for something long lost. There are tears in my eyes, tears like falling stars.
Brilliant light blinding me, as I stand before your never changing visage, glamour has fallen across the world, bathing it in violet.
The blood stained flower sways in the wind, basking in the sun and remembering its long past. A gentle breeze sweeps across the rolling landscape, as we stare back at each other once again.
A smile, a simple thing, and my entire world fall to pieces at my feet once more. My heart in my chest feels like it's about to explode, this feeling can't be contained by a mortal heart.
Rushing forwards, reckless abandon, running on empty I fall into that familiar place. In your arms the world feels right again, because you're there to pick up the pieces. You're there to put me back together again when I have shattered like glass.
And she whispered the words that couldn't be said, the little words that mean so much. That spring from her broken heart and with them came every emotion she once held, spilling forth from their container.
Here they pledged with weeping hearts to meet again, and smiled at each other, knowing that the road will be long.
We turn our backs on each other, just one last glance, and then everything will be darkness.
And here I will wait, in the darkness, she thought. Here I will wait, for you, my only one.
So when we meet again, I will be able to say those words to you.
But until that moment, I will remain here.
Until you return to me, until you return home.
A thousand years later, a thousand lives spent. Millennia of experiences made, and still we walk to this place.
At the end of everything, there is nothing left to say…
…
…
…
Well except of course.
…
"Welcome back."
…
In the fading dawn's light he stood, and she rushed to his side, and they stood there locked in each other's embrace.
And at the doorway, she stood, sobbing and alone. And the two reached out to meet her, truly for the first time.
Here there is nothing but love.
I believe in dreams.
The daughter that never was, returned home, to a place she always belonged.
…
In the darkness, there was only this, and nothing more, a world in which we belong.
…
"My love, did you wait long…?"
